A case falling behind a shirt causes a defensive reflex- the desire to get rid of the stinging object. Taking into account, the fact that at this moment a person is holding a loaded gun in his hand, often with his finger on the trigger, the situation becomes very dangerous...
Hot brass is no joke. Burnt the hell out of my neck because I couldn't get it out and I didn't want to flag anyone so I had to wait for the range coach to come and take it out lol

Instructor did a great job of making sure the gun was pointed down range because its common when unfamiliar w/ handling a weapon is to have your finger on the trigger after firing and forgetting its in your hand when something unplanned happens, like a hot casing hitting you.

@@AlexanderMena-t1fme siento identificado, no sé qué es y nadie lo pone en español
Only that the gun wasn't pointing "down" and the instructors didn't point it down as it would also be a firing range security violation, especially considering it's a solid floor. The instructors ensured the gun is always pointing at the target direction as the targets are always positioned before a contention wall, a specially designed stopping barrier for completely defusing flying rounds so they do not penetrate or bounce on impact.
@@spifet 😔😭

This one hell of a pervert shell.
And them bishes is hot 🔥
Ahhhh
Whenever that happens to me at the range i always just take my support hand and wiggle the shirt to get the casing out, keeping the gun pointed down range. I was taught this at a pretty young age so now it's just instinct when it happens, but this is why training is important. Many people will panic and move the gun right to the head to try to use both hands to get the casing out and will likely still have a finger on the trigger. These instructors did great at catching the mistakes
Good advice 👍
If panicking makes you do irrational shit like pointing a loaded gun towards yourself, you’re not supposed to use a gun or drive. I’ve seen too much “panicked” accidents. You can be panic but you must subconsciously stick with the rational decision to operate these dangerous stuff.
@@clusteringmiueveryone has panic reactions they have to be specifically targeted and trained against and to think every driver or gun owner will do that is naive unless it became mandatory

Good instructor. Nice to see people getting trained properly. Gun safety and licensing are very important.
Not in the USA. No licensing required
@daytonabeachUSA well, it depends on the state. Massachusetts, where I live, its required to get licensed. Licensing includes classroom and shooting range instruction. The instructor is not obligated to give the license if he feels the applicant isn't ready.

I had half a dozen shell casings land in my hood during a smalls arms session off the flight deck. Stowed my gear and thought nothing of it. Later in the week I cleared security at a domestic airport. I got the call to board and AT THAT EXACT MOMENT, all the shells fell out of my hood and onto the floor in front of staff. I scooped them up and handed them to the attendant and boarded the plane. Got seated, waited to taxi. More time passed and people were getting impatient. Then an armed cop boarded the plane and was provided my location. I was escorted off the plane but I managed to explain it away. The cop believed my story. He also confirmed that my ship was in port and that I was who I said I was. I was able to reboard, much to the apprehension of everyone else on board.
yeah one time i was in amsterdam airport and i forgot i had a bunch of weed on me so i ate the edibles and threw the grass in the bathroom right before i was going through TSA.

If you tuck your shirt into your pants, tighten / close up your collar area. That brass is SUPER hot for a good 20-30 seconds, enough to easily cause minor burns from brief contact and mild to occasionally somewhat severe burns if it gets lodged somewhere like between a vest and your chest or back or in a shoe or boot. It cools off relatively quick, enough to handle in about 1-2 minutes. but when it's fresh out of the chamber, it will easily cook your skin for a good 10-15 seconds or more.
Strongly disagree here. Few mounths ago i was at the range and i obviously left some space between my face and my glasses because an ejected casing hit the wall and landed between my glasses and my face, right under my eye. I felt a slight burn for a second and i just removed the casing with my support hand while still holding the glock towards the target and proceeded shooting afterwards. I had a barely noticeable bruise that was gone the next morning.
I own a firearm therefor i go in the range alone , without an instructor. If i had panicked something much worse could have happened. Make sure you do everything possible to prevent that from happening, place your glasses properly and dont wear clothing that may put you in such a situation. I also had casings go under my shirt and yea it burns a bit and its not pleasent, especially if you havent experienced it. However when that happens you need to stay focused on the safety of the firearm rather then the burn of the casing. Believe me, you'd rather take the burn then shooting ur self or someone else in the range.
I had 7.62mm brass from a 240B land on the back of my neck from my gunner. It stuck to my skin and I had a 7.62 brass burn spot for a week.

Respect to the instructor, correct position is alway more important. I know it stings like hell and can form blisters the cases once they are ejected hot, those are painful but not more than getting shot even by mistake. Always advisory to wear tight neck cloths while firing practices and drills. So that the case once ejected does not fall into the cloth of the wearer.
I had a casing get inbetween my glasses and my face. Tight clothing won't always save you.
An untucked, cotton, fitted long sleeve turtle neck, and jeans over leather boots is my standard - like a PE outfit or an apron. Lightweight cotton gives sunprotection outside without lotions and is not hot. Can always add layers over. Natural fibers resist fire more than synthetics, which melt with heat/ember sparks.
The instructors are very quick with their reflexes as there are rising cases of people going to shooting ranges with the intention of unaliving themselves. That's one of the reasons why most ranges won't allow single person admittance. They often try to engage you in a friendly small talk to gauge whether you're at risk/threat and may even refuse you your slot if they assess you've got funny thoughts.

Great instructors!!! No matter what is going on your first step is to control the firearm!! Yes hot brass hurts but hot lead is deadly!!!!
This is why I've always told people I teach to wear a tight collared shirt when at the range.
I actually had the privilege of speaking to the lead test engineer for the M16a2 about a decade ago.
He actually FAILED that rifle. Specifically because he found that hot brass had been KILLING recruits. Turns out that at the time with the way the training process worked. New recruits would frequently have a fully loaded magazine, no experience, and a sudden burning sensation on their backs. This was indeed a recipe for disaster which had already caused injuries and deaths. "Humpy" as he was known, failed the rifle on the grounds that it needs the ejection angle modified. Many years later he actually discovered that his superior had illegally altered his test reports, passed the rifle, and sent it up the chain of command.
For that reason, to this very day, every AR platform will land brass in your buddy's shirt. Instead of a minute change to the rifle there were instead changes to doctrine. However, injuries still occur to this day.
I tried googling but i cant find any incidents where shell casings killed somebody???

The failed state that changes currencies every 8 years is Zimbabwe. But the good old days it's called RHODESIA. It's two different countries.
This deserves all the love and recognition.

beginners trigger discipline is terrifying bruh, glad instructor was there to keep things up
In the military i got hot brass caught in the hollow of my throat. I never shouted hot brass so loud in my life. Range coach ran over to get it off me while i continued to fire. I got a pretty scar from it. I learned how to tuck my clothes on range after that.
You have to tuck your clothes?
Guy is literally risking his hand to protect everyone else. Respect
This is why i always make sure to have quality right side ejection ammo. The cheaper rear ejection ammo always causes these problems
What if left-handed?
@robertgift6762 Side ejection should still work for you. If youre worried try a helicopter ejector. The case will come spinning out of there and off to the moon!
@@robertgift6762Shoot gangsta style!
That’s why you don’t wear loose clothes on the range
To be fair to the first lady, u can see that she is definitely trying to hold the gun straight forward
Nice one Mr. Instructor 👍
She gone have a blister from that one. Good on the instructors reaction time and good on her for not flipping out, cause it does hurt.
I hope he is getting paid a good salary. That is one great and alert instructor!
Ok now imagine open v-neck with some dd cups.

Hot brass is the reason a smart soldier stays to the left of the fox hole.
Are you my friend?
Full kudos to the reactions of the instructors there, no hesitation in order to prevent the gun being pointed in a compromising direction

This happened to me once. I just stood there for like five seconds until I was like “oh no, it’s still hot” and casually shook out my shirt with my left hand while keeping the gun down range in my right.
One time I had a casing land between my glasses and my face right above my nose shii hurt

Gorąca łuska wpadła pod koszulkę, a instruktor zapobiega wywijaniu bronią
It happened to me IRL.
8 secondes of " HAAA!" "Oooooo!!!" and "Aaaaiiiii!" before the instructrice understood I was burning!!😂😂😂😂
I had a similar event, except with hot slag from an overhead weld burning through the tongue of my work boot 😅 Missed every bit of leather and burnt my sock onto my foot. I dropped my electrode/rod to the table, yanked off my boot and hood, and started hopping around the booth Looney Tunes style. Tried to get the rest of the slag off my foot and outta my boot. But a small part of the acrylic fabric melted and stuck to the burn 🥲 I looked up and saw my instructor just as confused as I was 😂 Just my luck on that occasion, I kept the shoes as evidence/a souvenir 😁
