  • Corrections:
    1. The Core-Ten product is made from galvanised steel and will last a long time, much longer than I suggest in the video.
    2. The product I used is 1.6mm thick, not 1mm.
    With summer well behind us, I am starting to work on bigger jobs for next year. We plan to create an outdoor seating area in our back garden, and the first job is to put lawn edging down using a product by Everedge.
    Update 8 months from installing, the product is looking good and working well. It looks great, and I am very pleased to recommend this product.

    Hi John. Thanks for sharing this video. It is useful for our customers to see the edging being installed. I've got a few notes for your viewers on the back of your video.
    1. The edging is 1.6mm thick (that 0.6mm makes all the difference!).
    2. The CorTen steel, even at 1.6mm thick will last a couple of decades before rusting away. CorTen is a specialised steel that is designed to rust without breaking down.
    3. The sharp edges. Thank you for making us more aware of this. We have already updated our packaging to include a warning to wear gloves and I am going to write something for the website to make it as clear as possible.
    Stay well out there John and keep making instructive videos like this.
    Peter (EverEdge)

      Why not just run a sander/grinder quickly down each edge after manufacture to take off any sharp bits? Then it wouldn't injure your customers.

    Thanks for your video. I’m thinking of using these for an irregular but circular bed we have. My concern is that it’s very unlikely that a discrete number of pieces will fit so we’ll have to cut on length but then we will lose the fastening mechanism at the end.
    I’ve sent a message to the manufacturer for a solution but they haven’t replied.

    • @mygardeningjourney3554

      I can see the challenge, they are easy enough to shape but you’d have to either have to make the shape the right size to fit the number of pieces or find a way of securing the ends. I found the company to be helpful. I hope they are helpful for you too.

      @@mygardeningjourney3554 Thanks. Looks like an interesting product. I'd like to see how it weathers. I have an area which collects quite a bit of water courtesy of my neighbor's drainage. The water leaves the area quickly but I was wondering how the product would handle it. Look forward to seeing your video. Enjoy your day.

    Could this product be used to retain the edge on block paving on my patio? Is it strong enough?

    • @mygardeningjourney3554
      @mygardeningjourney3554  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s strong but flexible. I’ve not seen it used to retain the edge of a patio. The people who make it were helpful, may be worth emailing them.

    They are quite costly. You expect only two years wear?😱 Other people have also commented about this and I note that you said you would try to correct this on your video. Unfortunately it hasn't been corrected and if I had not done more research it would have put me off buying. A well presented video though.
    What I would ask is, what do you do when you have a large circular area when the two ends meet and there is no locking bit where you have to cut off, if you understand me. Also, how easy it the product to cut?

    • @mygardeningjourney3554
      @mygardeningjourney3554  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for the comment. I placed a correction in the descriptions but noticed it is not easy to see so moved it to the top. I have also pinned a comment from Everedge which gives some more information. I’ve been looking for a solution to replace the video without loosing views, etc. I may have found a workaround. I’ve only used them arranged in linear line and bent the ends to make them more stable. I’ve not used them in the way you describe. If you have the space it may be worth seeing if you can match the diameter of the area to the length of the edging so they meet up. If they have to be cut, is there a way to brace the ends together by putting bolts in both panels and connecting them with the off cut? It would be great to hear if you have managed to find a solution. Sorry for the delay in responding, Covid took me out of action for a while.

    I’d suggest wearing gloves - which he mentioned after he did the job?????

      I kept forgetting to put them back on between setting up the camera and trying to get on with the job:) it is definitely worth wearing gloves while fitting these.

    Surely that edge will last more than 2 years? It would be a waste of money and effort if it only lasted two years. Two years is not long.

      @mygardeningjourney3554  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, EverEdge have kindly added a correction regarding how long the product will last (should last a couple of decades). I'll see if I can add a correction into the video. Thanks for the comment.
