I love that the charts are included. I always dreaded playing scales because I played saxophone in school and scales were used as punishment, so when I finally picked up guitar i never touched scales, I only ever solo'd over chord shapes. With this video im not only able to play scales and not dread it, i memorize the scales as i revisit each night and play the scale in a way i havent before.

Love using E Dorian here instead along w/major pent, finding cool ways to switch in between the jazzy & country styles smoothly.... and some really cool ideas there using the A mixo shape in ways I wouldnt have expected. Thanks for the track... from way back lol.

I played this backing using the bm pentatonic and it works perfectly , why is that ?
E minor scale: E, F♯, G, A, B, C, and D
Bminor pentatonic: B - D - E - F# - A
@@Dogpoop118 Also, the Bm box 1 is very similar in shape to the Em box 4. Basically what you're seeing at the 1min mark.
@@laredo1307 Not to seem rude here but box 1 will always look like box 4 just because box 1 and 4 are the same shape in every key
@@Dogpoop118 yes I understand that. the OP was playing the Bm pentatonic which I assumed he was playing box 1. I was making the point that it very similar in shape to the Em box 4 which is why in his words “works perfectly”.
@@laredo1307 okay I understand your point now. My bad. Furthermore if you take the 2 notes missing from the pentatonic and make a full scale then shape 4 fits *almost* perfectly inside shape 1 of the diatonic scale
