  • Convert your jet ski machine to premix using these simple steps. I'll be demonstrating how to do this simple change over on a 1996 Yamaha wave venture, almost all 2 stroke skis 1999 and older use this same procedure and block of kit in the process to covert to premix. Convert your machine to premix and have confidence your machine will always have oil lubrication. Have the confidance your oil injector pump won't fail and cause catastrophic engine failure, same process applies to almost any 2 stroke oil injected machine.     Block off kits are ONLY for carbureted applications. It is not possible to pre-mix a fuel injected ski, as the injectors will clog.

    A lot of bs in comments... on an older machine, bypassing the oil Injector is smart, safe, and gives you PEACE OF MIND. Like ANYTHING with oil injection, by the time the "dummy warning light" appears the damage has already been done to the engine. When i mix the fuel i know im always burning the proper ratio. Promoting longevity. I also mix a little heavy And carry spare plugs. You can't go wrong. We run our skis almost twice a week for the last 10 yrs. Hundreds upon hundreds of hours with minimal maintenance and no issues on our 96-97 wave ventures

      So my question is : is it ok to just directly empting the oil tank and go straight forward with the premix without bypassing

    A mechanic told me Yamaha oil injection pumps never fail ... the feeder lines get old and brittle which cause the problem.
    I replaced the oil injector lines on my ‘96 Waverunner 2 760.... so far so good.
    I have two daughters who often ride all day, miles from where they put in...they can’t be expected to mix their gasoline on the “road”.

      label1877. 💥 nice , thanks for watching, there isn’t much to fail there, a lot of guys like tuners and just looking for a little more power and reliability, this mod is definitely for them, it’s not for everyone! It’s good that you maintain your skis , know a guys who’s oil sending unit failed on his ski and he didn’t want to replace it, just said take out the weight and go premix! That worked for him!     We did a similar mod back in 2002 on our 1999 Seadoo XP limited and Yamaha GP1200. Just mix the oil and gas and NEVER have to worry about your engine seizing. The only downside is that the oil pumps do vary the oil/gas ratio based on RPM so at idle your jetski will be producing much more smoke if you do this mod.

    The water line that comes out of the front of the block where does it go I know it goes down toward the exhaust but does it have a T in it

    Doing this mod in a week or 2 on a '99 XL760. The nice thing is I have more room to work. Unfortunately that's because I'm doing a full engine replacement.

      podunkparte that's the best time to do the change over to premix, I know if you buy a replacement engine from SBT they recommend you going premix or voids the warranty on the engine, I believe this is accurate. hope this video helps you out on your fun project.

    Do all two stroke jet skis/ seadoos come with the oil pump system from the factory ? I haven’t owned a jet ski since i was a teen , went to dirt bikes but im now going back to the pwc hobby . I know how to premix two stroke oil . What is a good premix ratio for a 90s seadoo/jet ski .

      Jewish Cultist most mid age skis are oil injected. The older one are premix. Everything is going 4 stroke now. 40 to 1 is what I run you can lean it out from there for more power but safely 40 :1 is ideal. Now this is for my machine. Call up sbc and they can let you know for your machine.

      no jetting required for this mod, but I'm sure you would want to if you are racing and want to lean it out at WOT, but usually you can do that with a quick adjustment of the fuel oil ratio

    How often these injector brake. I have a 1994 waveraider 2 stroke I was thinking of doing This is it worth doing it or just buy a new injector

      obie figueroa it's a personal preference, I do this to all the older two stroke skis I have owned in the past, it is cheaper to go this route and once you are done you never have to go back. so there are a lot of gains from doing this installation that I mention in the discription box. one capability from stock you do loose Is not having to pre mix your fuel at the marina, you will have to mix fuel. but there are be nifty to mixing, just your preference. One thing to consider is if you were to buy a remanufactured engine from sbt.com they recommend you do not put back on the oil pump injector to void warrenty issues. so that alone says alot coming from a manufacture who builds nothing but these engines. if you do decide to do this make sure to call sbt to find out the fuel oil mixture for your machine. 250 hours on my ski, and still kicking every weekend. hope this helps

    What is the benefit to deleting the oil pump? Mixing fuel is a pain in the ass. Wouldn't an oil pump be easier? I'm super confused on this one.

      Texas Mickey yes oil pump is easier. Hence why ski manufacturers put them as well as many other reasons. The purpose to delete the pump Is in the case the pump fails you are not stranded with a blown engine on the water. Also You will have a “known” mixture.. This much oil per part of gasoline. You can richen or lean out the mixture of fuel/ oil. This is mainly done for racing. However the point here is reliability and controllability. Thanks for watching

      Yes just pinch the lines at the carburetor, I’d leave some oil in the pump if your leaving it on , that way it’s still self lubricating. But I don’t see a problem here. 🍻

    Theres a line going to the bottom of my Seadoo 587 thats about 1/2 inch in diameter that fees oil to the engine, any clue of what i would do with it?

      It comes from the reservoir under the engine and its connected to the reservoir tank, what do i do with this?

      Ricky The two oil ports on the block are for filling the RV shaft section of the block with oil. That needs to be hooked up directly to the oil tank as shown in the service manual. Leave the oil tank in place and the other lines connected so the rotary valve gear receives lubrication.You will need to either remove the oil pump gear, by pulling the intake manifold or preferably using a block-off plate, you will also need to put caps on the injector fittings like I did n the video on the pump and carburetors. hope this helps let me know if you have any question

      FYI 40:1 =
      1. 125 milliliters of 2 cycle oil to every 5 liters of gasoline
      2. 100 milliliters of 2 cycle oil to every 1 US Gallon of gasoline
      3. 3.2 Ounces of 2 cycle oil to every 1 US Gallon of gasoline

      40 gallons of gas to 1 gallon of oil

    A friend of mine had a failure on the oil pump of his kawasaki 750 and caused a engine damage. My kawasaki 650 is converted to premix. However here in Brazil our gasoline is mixed with 27% of ethanol because of a "environmental law", so it's a sh## of fuel for the ski.

      @@anesbounaceur just premix the gasoline with the oil and put on both tanks, and run it safely. Then take your jet to a mechanic to desativate the oil tank.

    Oil injection pumps never fail, but the lines do. This is a stupid mod, you'll use a LOT of two stroke oil after this "mod"

      Mr1ericcartman1 how long do you think these engines can run with out oil? I agree with you the tubing would more likely fail before the pump, but now with this "mod" you have the capability of controlling your fuel oil mix. and you have the confidence it's there.. no need to to convince you, either you do or you don't do it.. I choose this method especially on an older ski

      Mr1ericcartman1 All my skis are well maintained, This one in particular has 300.00 hours on it and still runs Strong for an old school two stroke. plugs are on the richer side but every once in awhile I'll lean out the mix for a race or two. I did want to mention if buy a remanufactured engine from SBT they recommend you do not put back on the oil pump and go premix as well to not compromise warrenty? they are the world's largest engine remanufactuter for water crafts like this.       how do you know if its time to replace the oil lines? i have a 97 gp1200 with about 100 hours on it and i dont want to kill it.

      TWLML420 just change them, it's an old ski
