Crop protector from birds, Wind turbine

In India, nearly 65% of the people are directly or indirectly dependent on agricultural sector for economic survival. The annual income of farmers is significantly influenced by the yield of the crops, which is continuously decreasing due to natural phenomena and poor technological advancement. However, the particular attention should be paid to the damage caused by birds.
In present study, the suffering of farmers because of birds is identified as a major problem to be solved. The current project is aimed to protect farmers from losing their agriculture yield from birds in an eco-friendly way.
The current project is focussed on building a Noise-generating device to get rid of the damage caused by the birds to the farmers. For the functioning of the Noise-generating device wind power is chosen as source of energy which will be eco-friendly and abundant in agricultural fields. A wind turbine is employed to convert the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical power. The mechanism used in this project for converting rotary motion into reciprocating motion is the reverse of automobile piston-crank mechanism.
When wind blows over the blades of the wind turbine, it starts rotating by converting the kinetic energy of the wind into rotational energy (or mechanical energy) of the shaft. A crank and lever is attached to the shaft to convert this rotational energy into reciprocating motion of the lever. A sliding arrangement is made between this lever and a wooden stick that will hit the plates to produce the noise. This continuous production of noise scares the birds so that they will stay away from the agricultural field.
This project is made by the students of KK Palyam Z.P.H School, Gudibanda mandalam, Anantapuram district, Andhrapradesh, India under the guidance of Jenne suryanarayana.
