It's pretty cute that you included the Sega Dreamcast. It was very ahead of the curve, but lost too much prior to them even developing it. Shame it basically died as the next generation was just about to start for the rest of the industry.
I remember getting my Shenmue copy on launch day, it was so unlike anything else, it's hard to describe what it was like living through that time. Also bought Metal Gear Solid 2 and GTA III on release, it was absolutely nuts.

DLC was at its worst during the 360/PS3 era, when companies would charge you for cosmetics that, in all bluntness, should've been in the base game - series like Borderlands and LittleBigPlanet were _especially_ guilty of this. Nowadays, I think most everyone realized that the right way to do DLC is to take a page out of Old PC Gaming's book and make expansions that are essentially Discounted Additional Games that wouldn't have made sense as a full release.
This video was VERY fun to watch, great job on this. I felt engaged the entire time and the gameplay/music added to the experience. Everything you said was very much agreeable. Keep up the good work man, I hope you grow big (and fast..).

I always wonder what makes my siblings want new games, but all it comes down to is marketing and dev support diminishing after a new game releases. I can safely say that it's the threat of throwing away support in favor of a new title, even if said title is released every year (i.e. Call of Duty). You can't make any revolutionary strides to a franchise in that time, and to say that AAA devs/publishers take no risks any more, look no further than TikTok dances appearing in item shops like Fortnite. Don't get me wrong, I have fun playing new video games, but never alone, and even if I do play games alone, there's still nothing memorable off the top of my head. Graphics have made such a remarkable stride in recent years, but who cares if there's no story? I guess all I'm saying is I tolerate new AAA games, but only because my friends and family want to play them.
Anything with friends is fun. Watching pain dry with friends would be fun. Perhaps that's why there's less and less larger single player games being made by bigger developers. When a game has to stand up on its own merit rather than being something to turn your brain off to with friends, the cracks start showing a lot faster.

Back then there were original IP's way more than sequels. Also there was quality over quantity. Nowadays we have nothing but remakes, remasters, sequels and DLC and season passes. Sadly, I'm pretty sure western culture as a whole absolutely peaked from the late 80s to mid 2000s. Gaming is a perfect example for this.
Even though Nintendo was lagging behind in some departments atleast they had alot of great games on Gamecube.
The Gamecube had a fantastic library, a lot of them being first party.
