A while back we bought the name brand organic spices that come in the little fancy glass bottles. Everyone at home was saying that the food tasted much better with them. Since then have I have just been buying the non organic Great Value brand and refilling the bottles nobody has even noticed.
For all the new parents out there: Huggies brand makes Costco’s Kirkland brand of diapers and they are significantly cheaper!
Love this thank you!
ALDI is also good!
But that membership fee though
“I put orange juice in my cereal”, just made me look at Jade all the way different. 😮
I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure you heard it wrong. I read this before I heard her say it so I've been waiting but I think she was saying that she'd rather have orange juice than oat milk
She said it. 4:25
A lot of generic brands are made on the same production line as the name brands , you just pay more for the marketing etc .
This. I am glad that they pointed this out in the video.
It’s a big diff in taste and quality unless it’s the store brand with certain items
This. AND, people think popular brands are more "reliable" or better than generic because it is popular, so psychologically, people think they popular brands "know what they are doing" more
I used to work in a grocery store. We were told that some of the store brands that they came from the same manufacturing companies like Kelloggs.
I put the same challenge to my brother. Where he saved over $100 as we used his same grocery list but we shopped at one of the discount stores. Don't be fool by the fancy packaging!
I been telling people this. Sane company slap with different labels.
It's insane how a bag of chips like Lays or Ruffles cost $5-6 a standard bag. These are snacks...snacks!
Yep, I was just telling my husband that the snack aisle items are becoming luxury items 🤣🤣
I drove a truck for 16 years.
I would pick up the same product in store brand and brand name at the same plant.
😂 That’s the funniest episode I’ve seen so far. I laughed my butt off about the toilet paper…no pun intended.
This is the most entertaining I’ve ever seen Ken. Didn’t realize he could be funny. Maybe Jade brings out the best in her cohosts:)
Ken's been working on being more entertaining but no one knows it since no one watches his show.
Well Jade is the worst, so anybody next to her instantly comes off better.
Ken and George is my favorite combo actually (when Dave’s not available)
Horrific news about putting orange juice on cereal 😮
My father used generic condoms. That's how I was born.
My Dad was so frugal that I am here because of generic Saran wrap.
😂
@@JustinCase780😂😭
Equate or Great Value?
😂😂😂
I’ll admit, there was a treat I used to buy but when that went up to over $5, I switched to the generic brand. Then the generic price rose to $5 so I stopped buying it altogether. I think this inflation is way to starve people to death.
Inflation is a demand and supply problem.
You may be right!!! See what Klaus Schwab has to say on the subject.
@@CastoBoyManiainflation is a government problem.
First world problems.
@@wheel-man5319 how?
When I was a kid I didn’t understand, now I do sorry mom & dad 🤣
Former coffee roaster here. To improve bad coffee add a few grains of salt. Works wonders
i fully agree with ken here. black coffee = gross, no oatmilk, and the softer the tp the better!
Man thinks he’s country drinking two percent milk😂😂😂 you need to start on some fresh out of the cow milk, that’s where it’s at!!! Natural form!!!
Straight from the udder, baybee!
In California, the sale price of chips is 4.50 each now. Non-sale prices goes up to 7.99 a bag.
The 2% milk will make him have to sample the toilet tissue 😂
We did this in high school and shocker! Store brand was better tasting for many of us!
I do like black coffee, but I get mine from a local vendor and it's fantastic and I'm truly spoiled on getting fresh roasted beans. I tried black Peets before and I'm really confused as to why people praise that one so much, it's like Ken said "shoe horn" 😂😂
Loved this segment. Very entertaining!
I like this show combo, Jade & Ken 😂
I'm also team Angel soft. The "nice" toilet papers have a dust to them.
I'm Kirkland all the way!
If you don't clean your bathroom, even the cheap TP will have a dust to it.
You guys were great! I had no idea Ken is so funny!
Lol if I'm trying to pay off debt, Publix is absolutely off the table. Aldi and Lidl! And fill in the gaps at Kroger
Kroger/Dillons version of honey bunches of oats and frosted shredded wheat are wonderful! $2 vs. $6 per box.
one note about the toilet part, Angel Soft is not actually a generic brand.
there actually a direct competitor to Charmin.
they just use slightly different materials to achieve the softness it gets, but Charmin has angel soft like toilet paper as well, but they started making some after Angel Soft made headlines.
still Charmin has more than one type of paper they use, some people aren't fans of it.
Same thing applies to CVS/Walgreens vs. named brands medicine 💊.
A ton of the store brand stuff is the same. Legitimately. I bought the store brand Claritin allergy meds which was $6 cheaper and had the EXACT same ingredients.
As a rule, I generally buy the store brand or generic brand items. It has helped us save quite a bit in the last decade! Even when we can afford name-brand items, we rarely buy them since the store brands are just as good or better.
I'm all about that Angel Soft life. Great Value makes really good corn chips and soy milk. The Dollar Tree version of Girl Scout Thin Mints is SO good. I really don't have any HAVE to have name brands. It's just not that deep for me.
This was great
I can attest that the tissue they use at Ramsey Solutions are LUXURIOUS! Dave ain't cheap!
I'm still eating generic beans and rice from aldi
I switched to most store brand items long ago to save money. Then covid and inflation happened and everyone around did the same now its so hard to find store brand in stock! And inflation hit store brands too, some have gone up $2-$3 here in Canada.
Quite a few years ago I didn't have cream for my coffee. Since then I always drink black coffee...........I love it! Dutch Bros and McDonald's coffee...............yeah!
hate to be that guy, but when it comes to chips, you cant really test off of just one. sometimes I'll buy the generic, a few chips will be good, but for some reason like the fifth or sixth chip will be disgusting, like it will be stale or have some god-awful texture inexplicably.
Many generic brand products are the same as name brand. They are from the same factory and just packaged with a different label. Walmart and even Trader Jos does this, for example.
I’m eating my dollar tree cheese puffs while watching this
Can't do off brand toothbrushes, the bristles break in my mouth and I almost chocked to death.
Oat milk is incredible. I love the taste. Especially in coffee. Some of us can’t and should not have dairy. It makes us very sick. It’s not only about being healthy. It about digestion. 😂
You buy the brand label because you fall for the marketing and fancy packaging.
Oreo's has entered the chat
So entertaining!
Having ALL girls, we use Scott tp. You get a lot more per roll than any other tp.
Not all store brands are the same and we don't have Publix so I can't speak to that. We have Walmart, Schnucks and Dierbergs (pretty local) and their store brands are really hit or miss, most of the times misses.
I stopped drinking coffee all together three years ago. Drink water instead.
I have found that the sugar content is much higher in generic foods, especially in kids food like cereal.
At least they didn’t get Scott TP. My husband used to get that and I really had to emphasize the need for dual ply in regards to feminine sanitary products. I won eventually.
Cafe Bustelo is great coffee. I love a good cafe cubano.
There are a lot of store brands I like better, there are a lot of brand names I like better, and some both are fine. It is very dependent on the product.
A cheap handheld bidet will save on toilet paper. Still use small amount of toilet paper to dry off and you don't have to get John Wayne TP.
lol great episode!
You can test the TP on your hand. It doesn't have to be on your tushy.
But the test will be more memorable for other shoppers if you actually do test it on your tush.
@@wtk6069 True
It is good to try the other brands just to see if it is worth it
We have small discount grocery stores throughout our area with bulk foods . Many great deals as well as fresh produce in season.
Not to mention this is from Publix, imagine if you went to a cheaper grocery store
Learn how to shop & buy what you use when it’s on sale. Tawra on Dining on a Dime will teach you how to shop so you aren’t limited to rice & beans.
I love store brands!
We use a lot of generics, but there are some things where we want the name brands because they are better.
Doesn't matter if TP cost less if you have to use more! Husband tried to 'save' money by buying 1 ply and it backfired big time! We ended going thru 3 times as much so we went back to what we were using. I will try store brands and if I like them, I will continue to purchase them. Another tip if you heavily winch at the cost of fresh produce is to buy frozen.
Cafe bustello is the worst coffie ive ever tasted in my life. I actually gaged and spit it out.
Often store brands taste good, just different. If you are them for a month, you'd get accustomed to the taste.
I am going to buy the serious gourmet shit, because i want to taste the coffee
Sometimes the generic brand tastes much better. The off brand shredded wheat is much tastier in my opinion.
Better than snl ❤😂🎉
Publix is the best!!! 💕🙌💕🙌
Ajax costs 1/5 of dawn. For example
Love my Great Value for cheese, paper plates, and bottles of water
I am all about buying cheaper and i like the segment but toilet paper i'm buying what's best. 2 things i don't skimp on toilet paper and peanut butter bc one is vital to hygiene and the other is God's gift to humanity
This is why i can't afford a house
I prefer store brand bread than name brands, it’s like a $2 difference
I get my toilet paper from walgreens😅. Store brand. Id say the quality is similar to cottonelle.
I do want the lower price but am concerned about it being organic. My doctors know I'm healthy. I'm 76 and work a job and hike a lot, so I feel organic may not be the worst way to go, as some say. I have not bought generic in a long time but might try in some things. But, the costs are getting to me for sure. Very interesting
I haven't found too many store brands that aren't good. I'm going with the store brands!!
I wish a "past" friend of mine was watching this. I was paying all her bills for about 5 months. If I brought her a generic product of anything - she'd throw it away and expected me to buy the name brand. Only Pillsbury flour for her, Yuban coffee, Charmin tp, lays potato chips, etc.
That wasn't a friend, that was a parasite
That's why they are "past" = no longer a friend.
@@gingergann3934 All parasites consume their host at some point.
Flour doesn't matter, but gotta have Charmin Ultra Soft. I went through the broke days with sandpaper toilet paper. Now I can afford the good stuff.
Shredded wheat is made by Post, not Kelloggs. C'mon Jade.
Great fun! I am a Nana please don't put zero nutrition item in your Children’s lunch. Yep no chips. 🥦 🥔 🥕 🥕 🥦 healthy plant based super powered Nana!! Jade well done love from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤❤❤
I havent brought cereal in 20 years
Sorry to bust yall bubble. Majority of generic brand is the same name brand company. Different label for different demographic and location.
We istalled a bidet hardley use any toilet papaer
Ken is hilarious
Don't diss cafe bustelo. It wasn't made right for him. He just doesnt like black coffee.
Kroger Brand chocolate sandwich cookies are not the same as Oreo’s. They taste different.
We are multimillionaires, and almost never buy "name brand" products.
I live near the Frito Lay plant. 😩 The smell in the air is disgusting.
I buy alot of generic items but I also compare the prices and unit price but I also coupon and use other coupon bases for extra savings lol
I bought an off-brand chip they were dark nasty tasting I'm willing to try other off Brands though
@jadewarsaw can you do that for those of us who stay away from processed foods?
This is a show for an average american so it should be obesity and health destruction friendly
Just don’t buy potato chips. Eat well and you are likely to save money on healthcare bills and live much better
Do more of these! In my experience, some off brand products are better than well-known products, not just on food, but also things like memory cards, sports equipment, etc. The reason a lot of these well-known products are expensive isn't because of quality, but because of marketing.
I roast my own coffee beans. So much better than crappy store bought coffee.
This guy is good on the radio 😂😂😂
Lays have been ridiculous lately
It took me too Long to try and then switch to store brand.
Funny, I thought I was "treating" myself to buy a name brand canned vegetable...and the taste, texture, and consistency was Exactly the same.
As for TP...that's a toughie. Was always a Charmin user. Have tried Scott 1000 and Angel Soft too. Angel soft usage wise is acceptable- soft and a decent thickness... but it leaves dingle berries 😂. So No.
Haha I knew this was about to be good 😅 Do this again!!
Lol. Y'all could actually go a way lot lower by getting the Walmart tissue and getting coffee and cereal at Aldi's. 💜💜
There are foods that I’ll eat the generic but ketchup has to be Heinz
Eww ketchup
Ken needs a pay cut. He is a generic dude Iike is.
HEB makes the best generic copies.i like their chips, and sodas
Angel Soft is amazing. Also real men and woman include baby wipes as well.
Lidl dishwashing liquid last forever. Cheap liquid is usually watery. The Lidl liquid is really good.
Aldi
In Canada there is a big difference between the name brand cereal and the generic brand in cereal. Sometimes the name brand is cheaper than the generic brand. Then again we have different name brands for cereal instead of just one. For cereal I buy the name brand cereal, whether it is the name brand “post”, “General Mills”, or “Kellogg’s”
