The smart-looking C4 Picasso is a brilliant family car: it's big on the outside, feels bigger inside, and has plenty of stowage space. It's good looks on the outside are matched by an interior that's both well build and stylishly designed. Seats fold flat, and there is a huge boot. All versions, even basic VTR models, offer air conditioning and a host of airbags and safety aids. The two diesel engines are favourable over petrol, as they're more economical.
A massive 500-litre boot extending to 1,734 litres (with the rear seats folded) means the C4 Picasso is about equal to rivals like the Renault Scenic (437 - 1,837 litres) and the Peugeot 5008 (512 - 1,604 litres). Touches like deep door pockets, under-floor storage and seats that fold down individually with the simple tug of a lever make the Citroen a great family car. The C4 Picasso registered a top ten place for practicality in the 2010 Driver Power survey.

Thubs up if in 2023 believe MPVs like this one need to make a comeback! It was peak car practicality! So much space!
That thing with the back seats that eliminates the holes in the storage area is neat as hell.
The paddle shift is great when you're taking sharp turns, you can go down a gear, giving the car more torque and grip, hence you take the turn safely without any body roll. It's also great when you're towing a trailer. I have had my Picasso 2.0 HDi diesel for years and it's still great. Despite it not having all the gimmicks technology of 2018 like infotainment, etc, I'm still happy with it, I like things simple. One thing the car salesmen don't tell people is that these infotainments softwares could never be upgraded, that and in addition in years ahead when androids and apples upgrade, they will no longer be compatible or you'll get softwares glitches or freezes. So you will still have a perfectly running engine with crappy software technology. One of the reasons, I'm holding on to my Picasso, call me old fashion.
I have a grand Picasso and I love it. I think it handles pretty well for its size. The auto box does take some getting used to but is good fun. Well recommended from me
The best looking MPV ever.
Its a lovely car. Drive it all aound Europe with it carrying my family us, and our 3 childre. Mine is one of the firsts (nov 06) Fully loaded. Has now 260.000 km and only I had to fix the ECU (about €250) and replaced the EGR( about €400) I have made several 650km trips at 160 km/h cruise controlled, and its extremely comfortable.
What is the average mpg?
We've owned a CX25 GTI Turbo 2, 1.6 Petrol Xsara (hatch, not picasso), 2.0 HDI Xantia, 2.2 HDI 173 BHP C5 (it's over 200 BHP now according to rolling road), AX 1.0 monobloc, 2.0 HDI C4 Hatchback and yet this is the car that we both fallout over as we each always want to drive the bloody thing! Not the fastest thing on the road, but that relaxed and comfortable to drive that you just don't give a shit. The handling is fine, it is fun to drive and the EGS is fucking epic.
Mine is the 2L HDi it's the EGS. And I use the paddle shift all the time, usually upshifting since it holds lower gears too long imho.
Great car - very comfortable, and fast as it needs to be. I've got the 2008 1.6 Diesel Auto which drives lovely and handles/manoeuvres really well. It is what it is - a family orientated bus, full of great extras. The large front screen is a dream for people who like to have a clear vision, and the front pillars were well thought out to provide maximum visibility - something the old Xzara Picasso's did badly. All round top car, and second hand prices are brilliant for what was a prestigious MPV at the time. Well happy!

I have a 2013 automatic
There is two auto-gearbox. The one with the 1,6L engines is slow. It's a one clutch 6 speed electronic. But the one with the 2L HDi is a true 6 speed hydraulic, and she is really good. The flappy-paddle is for driving in manual (mountain, hill...).
I've had ,mine since 2011 and I love the car. Comfortable easy to drive, space, storage
really nice review, short but full of real info there so thanks :)
My dad used to have one of these when I was 7 and when it was brand new in 2007
Bought one used for £1350, and very comfortable and great to drive.
It's got plenty of room for Michele in the Boot to take all the stuff for her work.
Well worth the money and I'd by a newer one next time.
my 2009 auto 1.6 had 245 km and still worked . now i have a 2015 auto 1.6 and getting close to 165 km and totally happy with the versatility and comfort of it
Even my wife likes it because it does everything automatically
unlocking
windscreen wipers
lights
shifts
parking brake
Not sporty but nice 👍🏼
what mpg do you get on the motorway?
I've got the new C4 Picasso Exclusive. Gotta be the best car I ever owned! I love it! So many toys, it practically drives itself!
found this very useful!
I've just bought one of these to replace my 2002 Xsara Picasso and it is light years ahead. Most of them had the 6 speed semi auto (the EGS transmission) so it will take longer to find a manual or a full auto. The position of the selector on the steering column is the same as the LHD versions which is why it my seem a bit strange (it doesn't bother me). Mine has the 2.0 HDi engine and is in Exclusive trim. I avoided the 1.6 HDi as they can be troublesome if they haven't been serviced correctly so make sure you have full service history if you decide to get the 1.6 HDi. The turbos suffer from oil starvation due to a blocked oil feed pipe if oil changes have been missed. The injector seals can also leak. Something else to watch out for is the self levelling air suspension on the rear. This can be costly to fix so make sure it is working. It will also fail the MoT if it isn't working. A DIY repair with eBay sourced parts is the most cost effective fix or coil springs can be retrofitted in place of the suspension airbags.
EDIT: 4 years on and I still have this vehicle. It is truly a multi purpose vehicle vehicle. It carries stuff (good for tip runs or collecting large items), carries people (I've used all 7 seats a few times) and tows stuff. I've uploaded 44 videos documenting the repairs and maintenance I've had to do. The most popular video is the repair I had to do on the EGS actuator. The return hose for the EGS fluid gets chafed and will eventually leak. I also ended up doing the coil spring conversion after the compressor for the rear suspension failed. A new compressor is the thick end of a grand from the dealer but the parts to do the coil spring conversion cost less than £200. The Lexia/Diagbox software is required to disable the suspension module to stop any error messages appearing which would fail the UK MoT test.
Very useful comment, thx. Mine is pretty great too, only the suspension seems iffy due to a grinding noise at startup, but it didn't fail a recent MOT.
You've just got a new sub
Mulțumim mult pentru informații?!! 🎉
id still want the auto to get the handy fridge
lovely looking car them c4 picassos
”Who needs paddle-shifts on an MPV?”
Well, you are free to not use them…
Im 17 & have to drive this big box as my first car. Its actually pretty decent :)
You got 5 kids yet to put in it?
paddle shift is amazing :-)...i have the 2L 140hp vtr+ semi automatic 2006 71000 on the clock..very nice ..my wife also has one but its the 1.6 110hp vtr+ 59 plate she has had hers for 3 years with no problems..but infuriatingly my c4 is going back were i bought it to get the gearbox fixed due to noise bearing..its under warranty :-) apart from that love it..
I remember going in one of these but it was diesel. I used to seat in the back and always felt queasy and always puked one way or another. Im glad this car got rep, aced by a newer Honda Odyssey.
Love my C4 Grand Picasso 2.0 hdi heated leather electric seats, kids happy in the back watching dvd on the screens, comfortable cruiser
You forgoy to mension the little space in the floor in the back
the 2006-present Citroen C4 Picasso is assembled in
Vigo, Spain
i want to know why he thinks the gear lever is awkward where it is, looks like its in the perfect place to me, a lot of american cars use to have them there,
Yes I'm actually looking at these cars now due to the convenient gear lever. Easier on my bad wrist than a traditional auto stick which can often be damn stiff.... even in brand new cars.
He is reviewing the car based on his opinion I guess
i have no choice ,have to get egs (auto) as i can't drive manual . i pick it up next week, pre owned 59plate. must admit im a little nervous ,same engine size as my meriva but seems huge compared to it
Any good for towing a caravan?
Do the 2nd row of seats have isofix?
Ye
Decent turn ups bro
😆 well spotted
Very good people carrier and a good looking vehicle.
Wish we had these in America! :(
I have the 1.6hdi semi auto and it's a wicked little van, I've surprised many a boy racer with it at lights and it handles really well for a tall bus
are these reliable?
the engine on the 2006-present Citroen C4 Picasso
Engine
1.6 L DV6 HDi I4 (diesel)
1.8 L I4 (petrol)

I have a Ford S Max 2019 and Citroen c4 Grand Picasso 2011

I wish they sold them here in the US.
And you can’t legally import them 😬
his name is mat watson?
yes.....theyre VERY easy to fold yet he groans when pushing the seats down
1:21 this load area is not completely flat. You can clearly see that it goes up.
All are fine but for me:
1st Citroen C4 Picasso
2nd Peugeot 5008
3rd Renault Scenic
Any one know any thing about the spare wheel or how to get one no one talks about the spare wheel
washington luis did you find out? We bought an 8 yr old one yesterday but not sure it has one?
Emma Blakeley No spare wheel in ours - it came with Citroën's version of tyreweld and and electric pump. The tyreweld has a shelf life but the branded stuff is cheap (less than a tenner, unlike the Citroën stuff)
@@kramelbbiw
Spare tyre is hung underneath the rear of the car
Good for a small van
Now, you might be thinking this big dip is rather impractical, but fret not, because you can fold the backs down from the seats to create a completely flat load bay, turning your people carrier into a van! But it certainly doesn’t feel like a van upfront. For starters, it’s far too upmarket. -Mat Watson, 2010
Yooka: Anyone watching in 2021?
#respectVW #YookaLaylee

Yeah rohim i have tuned my Citroen to 792 ps I drive today nearly 400 km/h but the parts was nearly falling off 😂😂😂

Yooka: Who’s Lemmy?
#YookaLaylee!
@BadRoBi10 pa je še zmer rabljen. Novi so pa tam od 17k z vsemi popusti.
Beware! I bought one of these and just under two years the panel bent without being in the sun. And the Citroen does not want to blame because the warranty has expired.
@gradimir12 How original :I . I am just trying to show an opinion, which i think is rightful, being this is a car review video..
2009
I really hope motor journalists could concentrate on comfort for vehicles such as this
Who the fuck wants to corner at 0.87g in a van? who cares?
4X4 cars and vans just needs to be comfy not sporty.
Renault Scenic
This is not a Picasso. It's a Grand Picasso
Peugeot 5008
Peugeot 5008 is better I had the grand Picasso for 2 years and it did feel like a van and the 5008 looks better

This or volkswagen passat estate
@BadRoBi10 Ja rabljen.
stupid review... it's a people carrier, why you would care about the fast turns?
and you are talking about the Robotized Gears, that has a robot shifting gears, you dont like it: change to "M" and shift the gears yourself, there is still a full Automatic gearbox.
it's a superb vehicle for families with 2 or more kids plus dog, like myself :)
Some folk with them do drive quick especially if in it without brats
Well said, just bought my second C4 grand Exclusive and love it!
Paul Virgil Im about to do the same. We own one of the firsts (Dec 06) and its now 300k kms. It is the 2.0, 138cv with the BMP (piloted gearbox) and its still strong. In theses last 12 years, we only had a couple of faults: the CPU died but could be repaired for €200, one clutch for €400 (I dont know if this is a fault or something subject to wear and tear.) and and both air hoses and mass to air sensor......not bad at all. Im looking now for a 163cv, with CAS ( sequential full auto gearbox). Let me tell you one thing: It doesnt have to be a Ferrari to need levers linked to the gearbox. You can down shift to a help the braking when driving down a mountain, or whatever you want.
Hey guys is manual mode quite responsive unlike auto mode with down shifts thank
As soon as i found out it has the electronic parking break i switched off.
