Great video!...I really appreciate that you highlight little real-world flying tips and background info...Please keep making these videos!..I like your calm and clear way of explaining and I can honestly say that I have learned more from you in only 1 video than I have learned from many of the tutorials out there...Great stuff!
+Martijn Kurver Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you guys like my teaching style! As time permits, I'm going to try to release as many videos as I can and impart as much real world knowledge as I can.
The level of detail you provide in your videos is incredible and very useful for beginners like me. Thanks for taking the time to make these, they are a great benefit to the flightsim community.
Hi from Australia SIM CFI! Just discovered your channel and it fills me with delight that these style of "study" flight sim videos are growing on TH-cam. Thank you very much for your work producing these :) I LOVE your calm and sincere way of speaking. After watching the first 5 minutes of one of your videos I quickly hit the subscribe button. Well done :)
+elmar001 Thanks so much for the feedback! I can remember before I was a real pilot, I would have loved to have videos like this for sim flying. I love making these videos.
I discovered your videos from a reddit link. Good job. I like your calm voice and you explain things really well, specially the sectionals. Thanks. Subscribed :)
I'm subscribing JUST because you said "Prepared Version 3" and NOT "Prepared 3d" at 0:20. PS. You are a great teacher too. I'll be here more often. Thank you!
hi. i just stumbled on to your channel and loved this video. I have to agree with many of the comments already here that you are a good teacher. guess i need to pay more attention to my compass and do some practicing! I knew about the compass' peculiar personalities but i have to admit, i rarely even look at it except for the occasional cross-check with my directional indicator. fyi..... i spent many years here in melbourne fl as an engineer at rockwell-collins. the hsi (not sure if i am calling it the right thing) doesn't have processional drift because it follows a 'flux' detector rather than being driven by a gyro, which is where the procession comes from. i guess i need to dust off the old cub and do some real flying. happy trails..... (and yes i am going to be subscribing to your channel :)
Hi, i'm a newbie flight simmers from Italy, and i've found this video very useful, I saw the scenery outside the cockpit in a new way. Thanks a lot !!!
I see a lot of VFR videos in the sim but it ends up being a zoomed in shot of the GTN 650 the entire time lol. The funny part is, that's what my old CFI would do. We get a new GPS in the plane and he's all heads down into it. He's trying to show me something on it and I'm like, "someone has to look outside"
couldn't not to add more comments to this video, I really learned very much of this video reading maps and understand my flight plan and setudation while I'm in altitudes , thank you again.
Greetings from Malaysia SIM CFI! I have just subscribed to your channel. This video is probably one of the best "instructional" video out there for VFR flying using VFR charts. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it and learned a lot about how to use the VFR charts more efficiently whilst flying VFR. I normally just press the GPS button and follow the route. It gets tiresome after a while. This has added a more "realistic" approach when flying VFR for me and has definitely piqued my interest again in flying my sim the way it should be flown and i have you to thank for that. Next vid - your video on VOR flying. Thanks again. Cheers and god bless :-)
Welcome to the channel! Yes, flying the magenta line on the GPS without knowing anything else can get boring very quickly. When you're navigating visually, it gives you something to do, gets your head out of the cockpit and enjoying the scenery, and it's a fun and satisfying skill to learn.
A very useful skill. I fly mostly in Canada where we have a lot of lakes. Comparing the shape and arrangement of lakes to the map can pinpoint your location down to the quarter mile. Yes, VFR can be more fun than IFR!
I noticed that the audio was a bit off from the video. Not sure how or why that happened... I've just been recording with ShadowPlay and processing the video in Movie Maker, 1080p 60fps. This is the first video I noticed the audio disconnect. If anyone has an idea how to make sure it doesn't happen in the future, please let me know :)
In other news, beautiful flare for the 182, she sure is nose heavy!!! Good to see that there are still CFIs out there who are part of the "hold off and full stall" crowd, too many students "flying it on" on things like a 182 or 172.
+Howard “Howardflyer” Lau I'm kind of between both crowds. I think most of the time I have a stall horn, sometimes I don't. Sometimes maybe I think I don't but I just can't remember. I don't necessarily stress flying it until stall, but I do stress doing the roundout (making sure you're at the right speed as well) and just holding it off.. holding it off.. and as long as you do that and you touch down on the mains, you'll be ok. If there's no stall horn then it was probably only a few extra knots over.
Thanks very much for your smart information, thanks again for letting me know abut nvidia screen recording, I had this videocard but wasn't aware abut recording, I setupe that on my pc and all work excellent, I've three monitor setup, I wish there was a way could record all three monitors show both left and right wings too. Thanks again for your help regards
+Lewis Bloomfield I always love that line haha. And yea, visual flying is a must-have skill, especially if you didn't charge the battery on your GPSMap 295 that comes with A2A planes ;) And thanks to you guys at A2A for getting that GA update pushed out so quick! I didn't even realize it was out until +Howard "Howardflyer" Lau pointed it out.
did you run the latest update from 30 March or 7 April? It only happened after that. Some people on the forums said they don't see it either while others do so it seems hit or miss. I reset my records twice before recording (so brand new plane) so it's not a mechanical failure.
What a great detailed tutorial nicely well done. Out of curiosity how did you config your controls to achieve smooth taxi, do you use fsuipc slope setting calibration or its just straight tweak from within the sim?

+SIM CFI...That's good news!...I'm looking forward to see and learn more!...
+SIM CFI...if I can make a suggestions?...I very interested in what kind of weather preparations/ considerations you make when preparing a flight.
I was thinking about that... I'll try to get that into the next video.
The level of detail you provide in your videos is incredible and very useful for beginners like me. Thanks for taking the time to make these, they are a great benefit to the flightsim community.
This was awesome ... one of the best I have listened to and watched.

Very good video, actually cleared up a lot of questions I had about stuff I see everytime I fly in FSX... very good video
This one is a good as a hearty three course meal. Very informative and a joy to follow.
+Ever Onward Thanks for that feedback. I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)

Thanks a lot !!!
Glad I was able to help change your perspective of looking out the window!
Really good stuff! Great to see someone teaching good ol fashioned VFR in the sim!

Wow. Another good one.
+Jim H. Thanks!
Really good video. Thanks for sharing. Just getting back into flight simming and this is very useful information.
Thanks! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Yep, a few instructors in our club are notorious to teach students flying it on, it sort of hurts seeing 172s doing 3 pointers...
+Howard “Howardflyer” Lau Oh geeze.. yea not good :(
Teach them that and let them land a little fast and.... th-cam.com/video/NMmHYWjEmkY/w-d-xo.html
My reaction:
Jesus motherf***ing christ!
Yea. Pretty much that.

I don't seem to have the vacuum issue but I run FSX.

+SIM CFI yep I did, no real issue here
+SIM CFI I stand corrected, I didn't but looking at the forums seems like they fixed it
I think they still have a GA update to release that will fix it a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=121&t=53033

Here it is
is that your pick up truck in the parking lot? lol what detail
A2A Cessna 182T | VFR Flight Bowerman (KHQM) to Olympia (KOLM, thank you very much for in formations;
What a great detailed tutorial nicely well done. Out of curiosity how did you config your controls to achieve smooth taxi, do you use fsuipc slope setting calibration or its just straight tweak from within the sim?
Really I would celebrate if mine was like that..lol I'll try it anyway full sensitivity and tiny null zone.
Awesome aircraft and video, is it working on version 11 ? please let me know what program you use for screen recording, thanks and regards
Brian Shaabani This is P3D so no addons in this video work with XP11.
great video..2 thumbs up
what camera add-on do you use?
Daniel Ralston Just the standard built in system and TrackIR 5
Nice job
Great thanks
Thanks very much
Tarrain is too far datailed then XP11, this is very good too VFR.
Awesome aircraft and video, is it working on version 11 ? please let me know what program you use for screen recording, thanks and regards
Brian Shaabani I use nvidia shadow play to record. They may have changed the name from shadow play to something else.
