this seems really fun and I'm liking it so far, but I think some things are lost in translation cause they're just confusing... drag queens and trans women are two entirely different things, but they seem to use the words like they mean the same thing here... also gender and sexual orientation are also two entirely different things
There are a LOT of issues in this show and trust me when I say it will NOT age well. A cis-woman shouldn’t be using the term ‘ladyb*y’, which is insulting and degrading. Certainly this should not be played for laughs.
@@leigy100 in Thailand, it's not considered as an insult and even ladyboys call themselves in that way but translation is an issue here. There's a word, "katoey" that also been used a lot in the series but it's always translated to something else and creates misunderstandings. Katoey is referred to effeminate guys, transwomen, ladyboys, drag queens etc.
Mostly it's translation.. Thai is a complicated language and certain words are very difficult to translate in English, that they end up losing their authentic meanings. I don't think they're purposefully trying to do anything problematic, different countries have different cultures terms and what not.

@@morbidgirl6808 I figured it was a translation issue paired with cultural differences, which is why I said things are "lost in translation".. it just makes things confusing for non Thai people I guess, cause I don't understand some of the conflicts that seem to drive the story! But anyway, hopefully trans people won't be the butt joke here or just the comedic relief, how they're usually treated by gmmtv shows
