I have Addison's disease but I had no idea my or any animal could have it. God bless those that do. My neurologist said as rare as it is I'd had to lived in far too much stress my whole life, and no he wasn't lying. He did say in most cases doctors can get the gland to go back to work but in my case it was completely gone. This breaks my heart for these fur babies, I definitely will be adding them to my prayers at the end of my day. God love these babies.

I had the same experience. My dog has Addison's and seemed to get it shortly after the rabies vaccine, which we didn't figure out until much later but yes, the prednisone almost did her in, up like 9 times in the night going potty, thirst, panting, it was terrible and I took her off it myself or I'm sure she would have died. Some of these vets are reckless!

My dog has been on prednisone for addisons for 7 years. She's now 16 and on her last leg. I plan to try and get her off this garbage or cut the dose down and put her on thyroid and progesterine instead.

Hi, I know you commented on this years ago. My 8 year old male lab mix was diagnosed with addison's just recently. I believe he has been vaccine damaged for years now and now this has happened cause he went into a shock from severe bloody diarrhea. They are already talking about putting him on life long medications. I do not like the thought of these life long medications. What would you have done to your dog now with what you know. Thanks.

I just came across your channel and wish I had seen it when you posted! My dog died 11-22-16 and he was 5 yrs old. The vet told me it was Addisons disease when he got very sick a week prior to his death, they gave him steroids and he got much better for a week only to suddenly pass away. He was a Sharpei pit bull mix. I still cry when seeing his pictures. He was a nervous dog from the start and had unfortunately been attacked by a neighbors dog a few times and it made him react very different around other dogs afterwards. 😭😢

My 8 year old female working ESS started having the occasional episodes of hypoglycaemia collapse after regular exercise two years ago - she has always been 100% healthy. She was spayed at 18 months as she is a really skittish gal, and I was seeing some behaviours in her that I really didn’t want to pass along. She’s done sports most of her life, dock diving, agility, disc, you name it. Yet every single blood panel we did - everything was normal EXCEPT her blood sugar was low. Electrolytes were fine. We had her heart checked. Fine. All levels were absolutely normal, except her blood sugar. This continued to happen off and on for the last two years. She’s never been on medication for anything.
Thee weeks ago she crashed. Hard. We are feeding her every three hours to keep her blood sugar up to even the low end (3.8mmol/L). Two days ago we brought her in to be on a dextrose drip for 8 hours to see if it might help...and it did, for about a day and a half. But during that time, she was really holding her sugars well and was brighter and happier than I’d seen her since this started. Our vet was at a loss, so she contacted a specialist in the city who immediately told her to do the ACTH stim test. Unfortunately we’re stuck waiting for it to come in sometime in this next week.
We feed her a very specialized raw diet that was developed for her by our veterinary nutritionist. She also gets a probiotic supplement. We are literally feeding her every 3.5 hours to try to keep her glucose up. It’s really frustrating to realize she is most likely in an addisons crisis, but having to wait for the test. So needless to say, I’m researching everything I can find, and I’m glad to have found this one. Appreciate the info and will see what our vet thinks as we go along.

My female standard poodle has Addison. I really believed I would lose her during her last attack. It was awful. I then did a massive amount of research, and this particular video was a big help!
It’s been 3 weeks with zero attacks, and she was having one once or sometimes twice every 1 to 2 weeks.
Im currently detoxing her with MMS. Freeing her from all vaccines from the AKC breeder I purchased her from. I’m also putting turmeric in her food, giving her liquid IV everyday, licorice, burdock root, and dandelion root with her liquid IV sports drink. Lastly, I’m giving her colloidal silver daily. I’m putting that in her eyes as well as orally.
I’ve always cooked her food, but I did add chicken and beef to the stew along with the turkey, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, squash, and one can of cream of chicken.
So far she is MUCH better! Much more energy and focus.
Thank you for your work and holistic advice!

Do you prefer DOCP injections over using Florinef? I have my dogs Fludrocortisone compounded so it's not so expensive but always wonder if DOCP is better as most vets recommended. Thank you if you get the chance to answer :)

Hi and Thanks. I preferred the Florinef in that in that you can always adjust the dose/respond to changes, and not have to wait 30 days. Other possibilities could be this..Percorten-V is not available in a generic formulation and is sold by Novartis only to veterinarians or veterinary pharmacies with a veterinarian on staff. Florinef is available from any human pharmacy and also from many online and mail order sources.

My poodle has Addison's and got it after the rabies vaccine so no more vaccines for her, never again. My past pets never got shots and they lived very long lives, same with my pets growing up and my mom never vaccinated any of them and they literally never got sick and lived really long. As for what I do, I cook their food, lots of organic veggies, like a stew. They eat much like we eat. I often mix organic veggie mix from Costco (frozen in the big bag), rice and just a bit of chicken or ground beef together or I make a stew or soup. They love the home cooking and are much healthier now. Also, I use a product for my dog with Addison's which is a mix of ashwaganda, kelp, raspberry and liquorice made by Riva's Remedies in Canada called Hormone Boost.Hope this helps.

Just really don’t know what wrong with him, we also tried giving him people food that would be healthy for him but he wouldn’t eat it, I really don’t know why, we think he’s mixed with coyote, I really don’t know how much coyotes eat or if that has to do with anything.

Although my Standard Poodle was not diagnosed with Common or A-Typical Addison's, my Holistic Vet put him on Black Licorice as well as a few Chinese Herbal remedies. She worked with my "Western" Medicine Vet (as she was a Vet for many years before deciding to go completely into Naturopathy, Acupuncture, Chinese and Alternative Medicine). Therefore she works in conjunction with "Straight" (if you will) Vets. Unfortunately she's retiring in December. ;(( Thank you Dr. Jones, for fighting the good fight. My 6 year old poodle mix was diagnosed with Addison's over a year ago and put on prednisolone and percorten v. (She gets1.25mg or the pred and 0.1 mg twice a day of fludrocortisone--due to shortage of percorten). Lately she has been drinking copious amounts of water and urinating frequently, plus having some tremors. Appetite is still good, no vomiting, diarrhea or lethargy. Could she be getting too much medicine? Her symptoms seem more like Cushings now from what I've read. Also, can some of the natural remedies be used in conjunction with above meds? There has to be better solution for our fur babies, until I saw this I had no idea animals could have Addison's disease too. I hope your baby stays healthy. My dog was diagnosed with Addison’s disease three years ago just a few weeks ago she started drinking lots of water and having to go to the bathroom a lot even in the middle of the night, took her to the vet he did blood work and I found out that she is diabetic now and has to take insulin two times a day I am having a really hard time getting her blood sugar regulated it been staying in the 300 to 400 hundreds ! I was told that the Prednisone can cause diabetes, I am beside myself she is so sick has lost so much weight, and I don’t know what to do I live on a fixed income which isn’t much so I can’t take her to a specialist! Prednisone is way over prescribed and I always found they may get better while on prednisone but as soon as you stop the prednisone the symptoms come right back. It's basically a bandaid to the problem. You have to figure out what's causing the issues and solve them.

Hi Addie, my dog got her Addison's after a vaccine and didn't do well on prednisone at all and is on Florinef only and that seems to work well for her without all the side effects. Also, I went to a holistic healer and also, my vet says it's fine to give both. I give her a product called Hormone Boost by Rivas Remedies. They have a website and you can order it online or call them and they will send it out. They are in BC, Canada. The product has ashwagandha, licorice, kelp and raspberry leaf in it. I just mix it with her food and my other dog gets it too. They are both about 10 lbs and get about a tsp each. She is a poodle mix (has had Addison's for 3 yrs now) and my yorkie eats it too and is very healthy for his age of 14, which is about as long as a yorkie lives and he looks like a puppy. I mix it with their food I make them. I think they seem to be healthier when they eat the home cooking, not the store bought food. I make min stews, soups or a mix of rice, organic veggies (frozen bag from Costco) and a bit of chicken or beef for flavour. They are happy dogs and doing well. Hope this helps. =)

We are a very active family, and he was under “stress” for 5 days in a row (he was very happy, camping, hiking) but we basically induced his crisis. He gets the proper treatment, and is doing well on it. I am always carefully watching him, I stay home so that helps. I watch his eating habits, and watch for runny poops. We are praying he has a long life, I can tell he is not a normal GSP, he gets tired easily, stressed out easily, and his appetite isn’t always up. We call him out lazy GSP ♥️🐶

Thanks for this! My baby is at my vet clinic out here in Canada at the moment. He's being tested for Addison's. He's an allergic dog who's been under a lot of stress due to us moving soon and add to that his yearly vaccinations last Friday and eating a treat he was allergic to while getting said shots. By the next day he started vomiting and had diarrhea. Yesterday not keeping anything at all down and not wanting anything either. By the time I got him to the clinic he had bloody diarrhea and he was dehydrated which was not my ideal situation but it was all I could do. I'm terribly worried but know he's in good care now. I just hope he'll be OK. I do wonder how to keep the stress levels down for him until we have moved and he has adjusted to our new home. And to help with the allergies. He's had a lot of tremors and tummy troubles for quite some time on and off even before now so we do think Addison is highly likely. Bloodwork results will tell us tomorrow. Thanks for all the helpful info here. What a find and gift!

I took my dog to VCA Catoosa CO Animal Clinic yesterday ( Friday the 29th of Sept ) for her monthly Percorten V injection & I was informed by the Vet that they were out & would not have any Percorten V until Monday the 2nd of Oct ) (Now they are closed Sunday & my dogs battery is getting low I can tell & she already has mild tremors & shaking ) And I was told just to watch her close.. Now to me it seems a little careless & heartless that they would risk an Addisonian crisis & her life to not try & get her into another VCA animal clinic.. I asked about this & was informed it was my responsibility to find another VCA clinic if I wanted to that & would be better off waiting until Monday... Now this does not seem right or ethical because my dog will not make until Monday & nobody seems to want to help me does anybody have some advice ( It is now Saturday morning 7:12 AM I have until Noon, that's when all the vet clinics around here close )

Dogs who are sterilized/castrated get it easer.
Even vacc ines can cause this and other meducation.
Diet can play a important role.
    We humans have it too.
Our total life is not to stay healthy.

      Hi,
Likely there has been some resistance developing, and the fleas are in the house. Do a thorough powdering of the house with Borax, repeat weekly, along with treating all your pets
