Always great seeing your videos of you and your mom. That large piece of metal with cap and 45 degree arm is made to fit on top of a fence post, and strands of barbwire would be attached to the arm. Hope you fix your detector.
You can eat the skin of the fish. On the grill or pan you want to crisp it up like a potato chip. You can put it on salad or by itself. Thanks for the videos 🌻
Due to ' technical difficulties ' our hunt will be cut short but not before subtracting one pull tab from our planet's waterways right on Nora. You have mad cooking skills, would like to see another Nora and Lena creating something in the kitchen. BTW have you ever used a smoker ? any food taste better when it's cooked low and slow ( with wood ) not gas or propane then you just have an outdoor stove. Mama Svet bringing that ' Lady Luck ' with the sunglasses fine....Aloha
Just from what I'm hearing with your machine I would suggest pulling the battery and flip the machine over and see if you can see any "Very" small water droplets in the control pod. The fact your headphones are having a issue with water / air gap under the piezo there is a possibility your having weeping of the water into the control pod, water will follow inside the cable into the pod.. Another possible is a faulty coil since you just had one put on, (And never this issue before) I've seen several bad coils act just like when saltwater gets into the cable or coil windings/wires. Once they dry out there fine till the next outing. Check the coil cable for any small cracks.. it is new so unlikely but always that chance. Saltwater is tough on beach machines, specially diving. Nothing worse than being on vacation and having a issues but Mikes suggest was a good one to help save the day. And I would call the Shop that put the coil on and inform them ..ASAP... Good luck!
Yessss you're right! The replaced coil was faulty so they replaced it again and also soldered something on the motherboard. Hopefully the issue is fixed 🤞 I'll do a few test dives with it 😃
I can’t believe those glasses weren’t scratched! Lucky Momma to have such a wonderful daughter, chef, and now mechanical engineer! 😎 Can’t wait to see what’s next.
I think you called it with the coil. That's exactly what my old Infinium sounded like when the seam around the bottom started opening up from surface scrubbing. Check the seams with a jeweler's loupe and/or if the coil has a sized cover check for sand between the two. A second longshot possibility could be the tiniest bit of corrosion at a battery terminal point, but those tend to stay a solid tone; no warbling.
Hey, Nora: with regards to the water-entry into your main metal detector --- maybe you could take apart the cabinet-halves of your metal detector, let everything dry out, spread a bead of 100%-silicone caulk around all the sealing-surfaces, and then put it back together. :D
You, your mom and that water are so tantalizing! My metal detector had the same problem so it needed the contacts cleaned on the knobs. Deoxit contact cleaner at auto stores. Thanks for the trip!
Be careful what contact cleaner you buy and that it's safe for plastics, I bought a can once to clean some video parts and it reacted with the plastics and it crumbled in my hands.
Have you considered sending some of your aluminum stockpile to a TH-cam metal smelter? Maybe one of these guys could form something interesting out of your little found rocks.
My Garrett AT Pro has the same problem. Sometimes it will work perfectly, and other times it just keeps giving me the constant signal such as your detector!
I was gonna ask if you dropped any shrimp, and well... got my answer, didn't I 😆 That's a nifty last-minute solution for detecting! Michael is super helpful, he has such a genuine enthusiasm for this hobby and helping others. Keen to see the results of the next hunt 😁
Hi, Nora (and hello, Nora's mom). Shame about your detector but lucky that Michael was able to give you some help. Your mom must have a lot of sunglasses by now. That's the 2nd pair she's claimed on this trip. Good luck with your treasure hunting. P.S. The shrimp that fell would have been ok bc of the '5 second rule'. Stay healthy and safe, you two 👍🏽 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Well done Nora! Stuff happens…. You do the best you can an carry on!! Just getting to leave the hell we are dealing with an go on an adventure with you is good enough!… Hi Nora’s mom!! l think she’s great Nora! I miss mine, but memories an things we did together are always treasures!! Enjoy the little things , enjoy your life!! Can’t wait for the next adventure!!
Headphone issue looks like a dry solder joint and I think your right, when the coil was replaced a seal may have been compromised letting in just enough water to cause trouble! Salt water is more conductive than fresh water so just a little will do it.
I just know when you're cooking and serving up the dinner to mom you really want to return to waiting tables, right? It looks like it's so much more fun that traveling to exotic beaches and working in the water all the time. Ha!
Good one Nora! Great spot! Bummer about your detector. Hopefully you get it figured out. Nice ingenuity with your little one! At least you have options. Keep em comin!
Hey Nora, sorry to see your having trouble again. As I said, be careful with those headphones, water can travel inside the unit through the wire if it gets stretched out. Ditto what Joe Beechnut said as well...check the main pod for water and dont let it sit if it does. Hopefully you can get it resolved soon. Good luck out there!
Just watched your video after I got off the lake near my house. I was using my Pulse Dive wand detector for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised how well it work. I'll also start carrying mine as a back up.
No good that the Excal is playing up on ya. Mr Oliver come up with a great idea for the other detector lets hope it works well. Sweet looking meal i would of ate the skin. ATB HH Brad
I remember reading a metal detecting story where a guy was having intermittent issues with his detector at certain times of the day. It turned out that he was right next to an airport and the radars and EMI were interfering with his detector. 🤷♂️ None the less I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
@@NoraSvet I don’t recall which detector he was using. I used to have a whites V3i and you could hold the pin point button and lift the coil in the air to detect the direction the EMI was coming from. I think electro magnetic interference plays a role in every detector.

Hi Nora, nice vid again! Too bad about your metal detector issue; I can tell you are a very clever and resourceful person but probably it is time to retire that scalibur and get a new one; it worked a lot around the world! LOL. Good luck on the next adventures and take care!
Although I've never had that fish before and don't really cook too much I had a strong feeling the skin would come off much easier after you cooked it.
I’d spend all day at that beach watching the planes takeoff. Always nice to see your smiling face Nora, no matter what you find! The toy boat was the cutest find ever!
What are you going to find? I suspect that you are mostly going to find bottle caps, random aluminum bits, coins and hopefully a nice gold chain or ring.
Soooo bad being on holiday and your detector fails, especially after being just repaired!! It happened to me on a remote Indonesian island and I was so mad! Anyway you had some pretty awesome mahi to cook, thunbs up Nora! 👍👍💯
Hopefully you got your metal detector fixed. Let us know what the problem was. Btw, the skin on mahi mahi is edible. Looking forward to you next video.
Holy cow NORA. I was gonna suggest calling Michael about your Excalibur metal detector. If you come to Australia ... you two HAVE to do a COLLABORATION video.
Professional chef who re-cooks pre-cooked shrimp? Lol Just kidding Cool Vid! Your coil cable coming of the head unit should not be pulling to the side. The cable is being permanently stressed and will eventually break. The problem with the Excal is there are too many points of failure. All the cables have multiple connections to the head and battery and headphones. Soak as long as you can in clean water after a salty hunt and use WD-40 Silicone Lubricant a few times a year to keep cables supple and soft including your control knobs. I have had head headphones literally crumble apart on my head due to heat and humidity exposure here in Thailand before I learned this. You should also use I high quality UV spray on the entire detector (check boating suppliers). You can also use hydrophilic nano spray on the whole machine which basically makes all of its surface not just waterproof but water repellent. Also use WD 40 Contact Cleaner spray on all your electrical contacts on the battery case to keep them free of corrosion. There is no harsher environment than salt sun and heat (except for the Arctic). Your detector and cables need protection just like you do. I know you cant travel with spray cans buy you can fill small bottles or soak wet wipes in the solutions and keep them in a plastic zip lock. Happy hunting Nora!
Hey Nora - enjoying your videos! I was snorkeling in the Caribbean and found a large mens ring. It started my interest in underwater metal detecting. My question is - you find quite a few iwatches and I wonder what you do with them? I found one also but everything I find is that you cannot do anything with them other than turn them in.
The 5 second rule applies to shrimp too. As for eating fish skin, I'm sure you can find an equal amount of yays and nays on the subject. I believe there is a lot of flavor in the skin and bones of many edible species. It's probably more of a mental/visual/textural issue than anything else. I know lots of folks who eat the fins and claim they are like eating fish potato chips. The decision is up to you. This destination has two of my favorite things...beautiful beaches and airplanes. I applaud your ingenuity. When you have not...improvise. Try turning the zip ties around so the tails extend upward. Thanks for sharing this adventure. I look forward to the next one to see how your improvised detector performs.
Also had similar issue with the Garrett AT Max. Turned out to be a faulty cord. Was told a wire was broken inside of the main wire casing coming from coil. Warranty technician sent out a new coil the next day.
Bobby! Btw: Some of my best jewelry finds came from the shallows. People exiting the water exhausted, and parents tending toddlers (what I chalk it up to). I hope your detector issues, and alternative goes well.

Pretty awesome video as usual! You’re the best you tuber ever! We love you and your mom and Lena… and your stories, and your cooking skills! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I have just order that small waterproof metal detector. Smart to extend it. It shall just be in another angle. I will design a fixing for this ! Thanks for the Idea.
oh that sucks. Constant sound while nothing is moving can be water inside coil or wires too. Nice job they did then :/ Once DRagged my newly bought used Excal in the car for 3 days to vacation spot and it stopped working after 10mins :/. And very hard to figure it out sometimes. Good thing about the new Deus you don't have cable problems but I didn't like it so I'm back to using a Sovereign GT which also had issues with cable and i couldn't figure it out so just have to make some contraption to stop the cable from moving. No warranty on that old one. THat small handdetector will find a lot of iron though.. I have the Nokta Makro version.
I love how you just casually mention "I called Michael Oliver" like that's something that we all do all the time. :-) I'm very happy to know that two of my favorite celebrity metal detectorists are friends. Good thinking on how to McGuyver a metal detector out of parts.
That big piece that has three slots on top and big hole is for the top of a steel post to put three strand of Bob wire for security !!! If no one mentioned it !!
Bonjour Nora je vois que tu passes du bon temps avec ta maman. Tu es une très bonne cuisinière cela donne envie de manger tes bons plats.le sauna detector est un bon détecteur. La bise à vous deux 👍👍👍🇨🇵
The metal object you showed with the question marks is the top of a chain link fence post where you run barbed wire.

Top info 👌 👍
Yup. You have pics in the opening of them as you are waving at the plane. Good luck with the detector!

4:45 Chain link Fence Topper, for barbed wire.
I like very much to do metal detecting underwater. I will try to bring more detecting videos on my YT channel as well
Chef Nora is one badass cook!!! I mean, CHEF not Cook. Badass Chef!
The metal piece that you had ??? is the top of a fence post and you connect barbed wire to it. Love your channel!!!
I was going to reply the same thing but decided to scan through the comments to see if someone else already had. Sure enough, you did.
Yessss 🙌

Nora, have you ever detected the beach, instead of going into the water?
Cool video Nora.
5 second rule on the shrimp drop. Lol
Hahaha 🍤
You and your Mom are the best couple on the beach for sure ; though what you may find is a huge Diamond ring or just some aluminum.
For best find of the day, I bet it was a close call between the sunglasses and the toy boat. :-)

Definitely not hard to tell where you got your good looks from! You and mom are both beautiful people!

Hey...Dinner looked great and Mom is lucky that you are such a good cook. Do you ever sell any of your finds?..Always good luck.
I love how you just casually mention "I called Michael Oliver" like that's something that we all do all the time. :-) I'm very happy to know that two of my favorite celebrity metal detectorists are friends. Good thinking on how to McGuyver a metal detector out of parts.
Haha yes thank you Marti!
You are going to find a time of your life like you been doing. Keep up the great work!
