Thanks johniz13! Yeah, that`s great to hear. I think the smooth jazz genre, like you say, is very open to everyone because it grooves, and you can still play those fun scales along with it. :) Cheers!
Hi rifiqi! Thanks, we appreciate that! yeah, the smooth jazz genre seems to be popular, and it can be so fun to jam to. Check out Band-In-A-Box, that`s where alll the nice smooth jazz RealTracks come from. :) Cheers!
Thanks for the smooth jazz in Ab! I'd like to request a smooth jazz in B major and B minor. B minor definitely needs more tracks all styles. I use your tracks all the time to work on scales and melodies. I am working on getting some nice recordings down and I could submit some when they're ready. The ones I have so far are rough takes on my iphone. xd
Hi Alex! Thanks for your request, we will make a note and see what we can do about it! :) Cool to hear that you find our tracks useful for daily practice, that is our goal! Send us some tracks when they`re ready then, and we`ll post them on our FB page and similar! :D
Love this track, it inspired me to start uploading vids again after a long time! It's just me messin' around this, but feel free to check it out, I hope you enjoy it!
Hi Ken! Thanks a lot! Yes, all instruments you hear are from BIAB, including the bass. :) Sorry, but I cannot recall which patch it was at the moment.. Will let you know if I find out. Cheers!
You can always use the major scale indicated on every single of EBT's smooth jazz, and most likely all of their tracks. That being said, you could definitely use a Db dorian scale. On half-diminished (major scale with b3, b5, b7) scales you can always use a locrian scale. Just use the key signature of the note a half-step above the scale. So D locrian uses the accidentals of the Eb Ionian(major) scale
I like to think in relation to the tonic chord. I think this chrod comes from modal interchange so at that time I'm playing Bb aeolian same notes as Eb dorian. If you play dorian #4 it sounds fine, but you are playing the major 6th of Bb missing that characteristic sound of the modal interchange. So I prefer to play Eb dorian (as it has all the same notes of Bb aeolian) You can get a lot in this kind of tunes just using major notes and natural minor notes of the tune tonic (Bb).
Thank you so much for making such wonderful tracks. The progressions are perfect, the mix is perfect. My instant new favorite jam tracks.
Hey Nick! Thank you for your encouraging words! :) We appreciate it!
Wow! Is a pleasure to play with it..
very nice track. Even for non jazz musicians you can get a nice jam session with the Ab major scale and some quarter bends+chromatic runs :)

Very cool! Which scale should I play on the Dbm9 (the IV minor)? Dorian #4? Any suggestion?
