Quick and easy fix, i like it! I bought my ‘99 F-350 a little over 2 years ago and the steering wheel was absolutely mint so i threw a ford cover on it to protect it just in case. Bought the truck with 142K on her, she’s sitting at 157K now.
@@JLCmike4014 very true, Everytime I take the trailer to a campground there's always one or two guys stopping and checking to see if I want to sell it, a truck this vintage is very hard to find, most are beat to death or completely rusted out, they use a lot of salt here
Came out looking nice, I agree with you on people and steering wheels 😂, never understood how they get like that. What few cars I’ve had the wheels/interior always looks new after miles and miles, only thing that might get worn after 10 years for me is the seat, but disabled myself as well, I’m sure I rub the seats getting in and out
Just wanted to say I got to watching your videos during the pandemic. I really appreciate them as Iona 2002 7.3 PSD crew cab. I did notice that your link in your description to the bug and tie remover and the eraser wheel arethe same link. You may want to change those or you may not want to but I happened to notice it.
Hi Joe, another helpful and informative video. I always appreciate it when the presentation includes tools required to complete the job. For instance were those Allen bolts holding on the airbag? You did mention the torx. Thank you.
Wondering if it would be possible to install a steering wheel from 2017+ truck. That would be a way to get heated steerinwheel and updated look. I get you would have to do some serious wiring. Just bought a 2000 Excursion with 7.3 and liking your channel, lots of info and inspiration.
Thanks for the tutorial & link to the puller man, I bought one online to remove the wheel of my Ranger and it didn’t even work. Gotta return it which is annoying, but I’m gonna buy the one you’ve got here.
@@LivingOnWheelsIt worked great for me! I just had to put a socket on the end of it since it wouldn’t thread in. Thanks again for the video & link, man. Love your content and keep up the good work, you’re a rockstar.
Enjoy your vids man! (Including the vids not related to 7.3) Helpful for my two superdutys i got! Side note: whats your plan for new headlights/taillights? Itching to see what your plan is, haha 😄
Hi Joe. Love your videos as always. Have owned a '01 7.3 since new. Time to renew or replace the steering wheel. Can you provide a link or info as to the plastic non-leather wheel that you used. Thanks...Paul
Thanks for watching! I actually just bought mine used on eBay. So I don’t have a link for you, but if you do a quick search is pretty easy to find some for sale.
Word of Caution here, my Excursion is an XLT. I bought a steering wheel from the same year model Eddie Bauer.... when you press the CC 'on' button, the horn honks. I had to pull the CC buttons out of the old XLT steering wheel and put them in the Eddie Bauer steering wheel.... now the CC works. Caveat: the Eddie Bauer CC harness will NOT lock into the connector, you will think you broke the Latch removing the XLT steering wheel. Nope: Ford reversed the Latch !@#$% when I put the XLT CC harness back in, the Latch locked up solid, and the CC works perfect again. >
Any idea how to add CC to an 02v that didn't come with it from factory? I cant find anything solid online about it. My steering wheel doesn't have the buttons.

Mine is a 97 F 350 7.3 five speed 4x4 just turned 200,000 no rust, never any body damage and I'm the original owner
@@ronspringer-ry3yz, any chance you’d eventually want to sell it? At some point i’d like to buy a ‘97, especially one with the stickshift.
@@JLCmike4014 probably not, my sun would have a cow if I even brought up the idea and too replace it would be incredibly expensive up here
@@ronspringer-ry3yz, i bet. Those trucks are coming up in value big time.

The socket is a good idea hopefully that helps someone. Nice vid Joe looks great.

Fairly straightforward fix, I like it Joe! 👍👍Awesome stuff brother!
I didnt figure it would be too hard but it was even easier than expected.

I believe they were 7mm bolts and a t-55

I would like to build a custom set of projector headlights again and I probably won’t touch the twilights till I flatbed it.
Thanks for the info
How about a complete replacement while keeping the cruise?
Can you tell me what brand that is, looking to replace mine as well, love your show
It’s a used OEM takeoff that I bought off eBay.
@@LivingOnWheels thank you
Tool list and torque specs would have been cool 👍🏻
Great information video! What was the torque setting for the steering wheel? Thanks!
I think I did about 30 with some blue loctite
Anyone know where to buy the rubber piece that covers the airbag? Mine is starting to split at the seam. TIA

hmmm. thankfully everything is working as it should.
Is there anyway i could get a link to the steering wheel you got?
Unfortunately not. I just got it off eBay. Pretty easy to find good condition used ones there.
Hey you know if I can replace my old (97 model) steering wheel for a new model wheel ? (2004 model), I’m worried about the airbag connections, thanks
I don’t know for sure but I don’t think it would wire in correctly.
What steering wheel puller you used.
I linked it in the description
What size torx bit did you use?
I believe it was a t55
What was the torque specs on the torx bolt?
I don’t remember. Just found it on a quick google search
Seems like a problem with the leather steering wheels, mine is the plastic-like one and it isn't torn up or anything.
Maybe that’s it.
Any idea how to add CC to an 02v that didn't come with it from factory? I cant find anything solid online about it. My steering wheel doesn't have the buttons.
Unfortunately I am not sure on that one
Where did you get that steering wheel.
Used off eBay
I need to do this next to my f250
Was an easier job than I expected.
@LivingOnWheels Yea that air bag thing makes me nervous 😁
What was torque specs?
Skip too 3:24 if you wanna skip all the yappin.
Don’t need new wheel just like watching how to fix stuff on super duty’s.!
Well I appreciate you watching!
Where did you get the steering wheel?
Just ordered one off eBay. Lots of options.
