I found Wes very recently after he rebuked Billy Carson. I’ve watched a few videos now and can’t believe I have never come across him before! He is so on point and very inspiring to Christians such as myself, especially after hearing him say “the Bible is for us all but not To us” 🎯I look forward to seeing more from him on dispensations. 💪🙏

John 6:44 says, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up on the last day". “Unless the Father who sent me draws them”. You were drawn to God by hearing Wes’s words. It’s amazing how we all have different experiences coming to God. For me, I was 8yo walking to town through a small field when God spoke to me, he gave me a promise, he said Philip you don’t have to worry I am going to take care of you. I was raised Catholic I didn’t know anything about being born of the water and of the spirit. It was 14 years later I was 19yo when someone came into my life and showed me in the Bible that we must be born again if we want to enter the kingdom of heaven. I believe God chose me too. The problem is that people want their ears tickled as Scripture says so they'll grap onto anything that seems to prove their particular viewpoint without investigating the "proof" further. With all of the information at our fingertips, it's so easy to disprove The DaVinci Code as well as Billy Carson's claims.

Great video otherwise, hope this gets more traction as this is an absolutely valuable video to address which no offense is a silly objection to Christianity. I remember when I first heard this conspiracy as a teen it kinda freaked me out, but after some mild diligent study realized that it was a lot of hooplah with no grounding at all.

@enslavedbytruth - the rock is Peter's faith, not Peter himself. The previous verse tells us that. Faith in Jesus Christ is the central tenant of Christianity, not a human being. There were no popes in the first century church. Bishops/Elders were responsible for leading their local church. Peter was the Bishop of Rome, not a pope. The Bible does not tach apostolic succession, praying to saints, elevating Mary, the 7 sacraments, etc. The Roman Catholic Church that we know today was started under Pope Gregory the Great in ~600 AD. He pushed for Rome to be the end all be all authority.

@@Xavier-ww9zybut that’s relevant because of “oral tradition” that the Bible speaks of. The Bible is the foundation but the church and the practices of the faith continued and developed naturally as you would expect. That’s why you see early church fathers talking about baptismal regeneration and real presence of christ in the Eucharist. Or better yet the trinity. Those aren’t explicit in the Bible itself yet the church for the first 1500 years were unified. Hence why all of the orthodox churches all believe the same doctrines as Catholicism unlike Protestant sects.

When Doreen asked about when the church established the “66 book canon”… the Biblical Canon has *73* books.
The canon of Scripture-the list of books recognized as inspired and authoritative-was gradually developed over the early centuries of Christianity. It was formally recognized by the *Catholic* Church in the 4th century, though the process of discernment began earlier.
The formal recognition of the canon took place at the Synod of Rome (382 A.D.). Under Pope Damasus I, the Church issued a canon listing the *46* books of the Old Testament (including the deuterocanonical books) and *27* books of the New Testament-matching the Catholic Bible today. *46+27=73*
There are *73* books in the official Biblical Canon. If you have 66 books in your Bible you have a Protestant translation that has removed 7 official canonical books.
Protestants removed 7 books from the Bible during the Protestant reformation in the 16th century.
    Get an RSV-CE translation.

The canon of scripture was formally recognized by the Catholic Church at the Synod of Rome in 382 A.D. under Pope Damasus I. The formal canon has 73 books that Catholic Bibles still have today (RSV-CE for example). The Protestant translations are missing 7 official canonical books (KJV for example) as the reformers removed these 7 books in the 16th century without the official authority to do so.

when he says things can always be traced back to an apostle why did he not give specific names like he normally does? It is a known fact that no one knows the who wrote the book of hebrews but he said that can be traced back to a witness... who is this witness and why should we trust him. I also found it interesting that he said that there were many discussions had on if there should be only 4 books in the new testament but does not explain why which specific books were accepted and why some were not. He then shifts his focus back to Constantine and ignores the fact that there are so many different types of bibles for a reason.

I think you mean 4 gospels.
As for why the other "gospels" were excluded, all you have to do is read them and see they were wacko Gnostic screeds and drug trips. Plus, unlike the 4, they actually WERE written much later, 2nd through 4th centuries.
So it really wasn't anything like a close call, likely one reason why Huff doesn't bother with it, though mainly because the focus of this conversation was what happened with Constantine and Nicea, which is to say it had nothing to do with picking the books.
It was overwhelmingly about whether Jesus had always existed in the eternal godhead or was a created being, and if I remember right, the final decision was the landslide of all landslides, Jesus being past-eternal getting 95% of the vote. It was the death of Arianism. (The first chapter of John should have made it 100%.)
So yet another myth about Christianity popular with internet skeptics circles the bowl...

Wes gives reasons in other videos as to why the books of the Bible were chosen. You can look it up too. There is no mystery whatsoever. Mostly, the writers couldn't be verified and most importantly, they did not fit in what the books of the Bible had already stated such as the Gospel of Thomas which states the Jesus basically says women have no value, which contradicts the Gospels and Jesus' message. Jesus elevated the status of women. He appeared to women first. He also had many women followers and women helped fund and establish the early church. Shows are limited by time set by the host so there is only so much that they can fit in.

Jesus and the disciples kept the Sabbath and did not explicitly teach that it would be abolished. It was only through church laws (such as the Council of Laodicea in 364 AD) that the keeping of the Sabbath was explicitly discouraged.

    Wes,
Was there not an internal war between Arius and Constantine where Arius was more or less banned from Rome over not agreeing with the full divinity of Christ concept and Constantines sister negotiated with Arius to finally accept it in order to be given back his place in socety?
That does not sound like the way you explain with Constantine saying "we all agree about these things anyway."
Asking respectfully. The council of Nicea and the entire concept of the trinity and divinity of Christ has always been a major obstacle for me accepting the idea of Christianity.

I have a father, which makes me a son, I am a father to my children, and I have a soul. Though I'm one person, I have distinct roles. Similarly, God is one essence in three distinct, coequal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each fully and equally God, existing in perfect unity as the Trinity.

I think the biggest thing to come out of the Niceine Council is the actual creed and discussions of the religious calendar celebrations. Some were upset over the feasts being excluded and this created a schism and Messianics broke fellowship with traditional orthodoxy in 325 AD. Some say Gentile Christians were never asked to keep the Feast days and Festivals or even the Sabbath, see Acts 15 and the Book of Galatians.
Most people don't understand this but during the Great Persecution 303-313 AD, the destroyed Christian meeting houses and Christian texts they found because of co-Ceasor edicts; Christianity was illegal due to its nature of serving one Sovereign God only. Some Cesar's were actually deified after their death or actually considered themselves a god worthy of worship .

During the time of the Council of Nicaea, the Church referred to itself as the Catholic Church which means universal. Hence, the Nicene Creed professing belief in the “One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.”
It’s strange how Protestants try to remove the “Catholic” identity from the early church in order to justify their continued protest of the authority of the Papacy.

Speaking of St. Justin Martyr: “We call this food Eucharist, and no one else is permitted to partake of it, except one who believes our teaching to be true and who has been washed in the washing which is for the remission of sins and for regeneration, and is thereby living as Christ has enjoined. For not as common bread nor common drink do we receive these; but since Jesus Christ our Savior was made incarnate by the word of God and had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so too, as we have been taught, the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer set down by Him, and by the change of which our blood and flesh is nourished, is both the flesh and blood of that incarnated Jesus.”

I'm very much convinced of the biblical account and it's historical, geographical and, theological voracity. I believe that a person's view on the Bible is the single most important thing in our lives. If Jesus is the Word as John 1:1 says then the Word (and Jesus by definition) is our literal Bread of life. Where things can easily fall off the rails is one believers understanding or interpretation of the very bread we are consuming at the soul level. The NT is very careful to point out that sound doctrine is a key ingredient to living properly and walking out what you've accepted as true. Topics such as what does it mean to under the law? What is the Law from a Jewish and Christian mindset because the two are NOT the same concepts. Judaism follows the Oral Law written in Talmudic writings as well as Tanach (OT) but it seems to place a more impactful significance on the Talmud. Christians have a fundamentally different oral tradition than Jews do and the New Testament as well but we seem to equate our own oral tradition as being NT without letting the NT differentiate itself and realign back with the OT as one single full written narrative guide. The NT does not stand alone and it cannot be fully understood or appreciate without understanding the Law, Writings, Prophets, and Psalms. This is exactly why Matthew 1:1 begins with. "The genealogy of Jesus Christ son of David, Son of Abraham." If we don't appreciate the Jewish backdrop of the NT then we have all this new "little Jesus" new age theology. Keep up the good work Wes! Bless you brother!

Completely agree! When I became a believer 9 years ago, I started to read the Bible and saw the continuation of keeping the commandments in the NT. I heeded the warning given by the Messiah in Matthew 5 for believers through the New Covenant in His blood. The Holy Spirit causes us to keep the commandments. I love them and they make me feel so close to my Savior and the early church which consisted of believing Jews and Gentile Christians. Not keeping the Sabbath on different days not celebrating different holidays but One just like Ephesians 2 says.
That being said where I may differentiate a little bit, I really appreciate Wes on his stance of the validity and preservation of the scriptures being something we can absolutely trust. Which my own research and trust that The Father is capable of preserving His Word has led me to.
