I got to drive a 1950 Mack 75 foot Ladder Truck to a live fire when I was a 'rookie fireman'. Ir was a reserve ladder used mostly for rookie school. The truck and I were born the same year, it was a beautiful old convertible, most beautiful when not raining.

This brings back memories. My dad had a 1960 B85 pumper when I was young. Good times. Nice B&M siren, by the way.
What is a b&m siren? Not familiar with that name.

@@josephpalmer4458 B&M is a siren manufacturer, and that's what you see on the left front fender. Most modern fire engines use Federal Q sirens, so I tend to notice the B&M products.
Bruce and Barb have a nice truck there on G-W Rd, there in the "West", but not exactly in the old west, I am actually out here in the Idaho, the Pacific NorthWEST, I bet you got the _best_ insurance on that truck ... .lol l love that Fire Truck I was born and raised in Allentown,Pa and likely your Mack was built there at the former home of MACK.

Wow. Next time get it going and lock up the brakes. I want to see what happens. I watched a TH-cam of guy in Washington state that has same vintage Mack fire truck with a 1091 cubic inch Hall-Scott engine. His has a closed cab and is not an extension ladder truck. Keep them coming. I just realized this 3 yrs old.
Thx Gary. Yes this was our first video. Going to do another one on the ladder op. Don’t think I’ll be doing any drifting. But one never knows. This vid is kinda crude compared to our newer ones as it was first out of the box.

East Greenwich Rhode Island Fire District had a 1958 Mack 75-foot straight chassis. The turntable was a Maxim and was bought new by the East Greenwich Fire District from Mack! It had an open cab so that spotting for overhead obstacles was easier but the wintertime very few men were man enough to drive it in the wintertime! We also had a 1938 Mack Pumper that was in service as a third engine due into fires. This truck was sold to the East Greenwich Fireman's Association along with other Fire Apparatus that the association bought and completely refurbished and keep in a museum at the club!

Ladder on the turntable is a Maxim. They WERE located in Middleboro, MA. They were not part of Mack as stated. Maxim rigs were primarily located in New England but it wasn't uncommon to see them in states further away such as Speedway Indiana.
So noted, Truck was from Pomona CA so ladders were all over.
@@KlepsGarage Maxim was based in Middleboro MA. Palmer MA ran with "S" models. 4-door conventional cab as did Worcester. Very durable rig. Almost every New England department at one time or another owned some configuration of a Maxim. Especially the flat-nose cab. They wouldn't die.
Saw a Maxim engine in rural Utah some years ago.The old ones ran like iron.
Indianapolis had tons of Maxims, Both conventional cab and cabover.

These models were actually pretty rare the model b-21 1958 mack was a closed cab and only 9 were ever made but it was 1 of 6 and had a bigger engine than the one in this video it produced 350 horsepower there is even a sedan model the b-21 the front grill area was extended and part of the back engine area was extended to fit the engine it had the engine was a hall scott

Yes, a friend told me and he and I both sent off for info, I got a lot of stuff back, and surprising different info from each request. The pic in front of the Sidney Factory was from them.

They must have really liked it. It was sold in 1990 went to Iowa. Then to me in 2017

Real fire engines. They lasted. Not full of fragile electronincs like now. They will not see 15 years, let alone 65!
