    I had a friend lend me his old Yashica medium format that was like 75 years old. I loved the pictures it took, and you’re absolutely right about having to really think about your shots. You’re making me want to get one now!

    It's funny how in every single mamiya video I find in youtube, everyone says is pretty affordable, here in Mexico a pre-owned one in such bad condition is up to $800 USD, not to mention the fact that all the film supplies are extremely expensive, I wish I could live in some other country where film photography could be more affordable. Anyway, this was a really nice video. Greetings from Mexico.

      Rodrigo Vazquez I live in the US, and I consider an RB67 to be fairly pricey, especially a Pro SD. Seems like a lot of TH-camrs are pretty well off financially and don't really understand that what is affordable to them might be expensive for others. They're just talking from their own perspective, of course, so I don't fault them, but these kind of statements stand out to me too.

    The glass is probably the most important factor when it comes to picture quality. Scan size is more important if you’re going to make enlarged prints. Also, make sure to compensate for loss of light when using the bellows. Been using the rb67 pro for 4 years now and it still produces great negatives for me. I don’t see the need to upgrade to the RZ

    Hey bro nice vid! Just wondering what’s your studio lights setup been looking to get a new one ☝️

  • @DocBlob
    @DocBlob 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    @0:35 what are you talking about??? picture quality is like 90% the lens (and inherently the size of the negative/sensor too) and 10% film. You ever wonder why the real cost in photography is lenses? They literally make the image

    • @taigafukuyama
      @taigafukuyama  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha yea for the most part, i've just learned to shoot at lower aperture at like F8 so the general area is more in focus but yea it's still a little tricky for me lol

    • @adrianhlina401
      @adrianhlina401 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mate, if you ever find one for 300€, let me know. They are asking 600€+ for these around here 😥

    • @AlexandruMusetoiu
      @AlexandruMusetoiu 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yes, i know. i keep lookin on ebay out of curiosity and most of them are even above the 600$ price tag. i believe, for a whole set you gotta spend around 1k (including more lenses). that's a few months savings for me ngl
      the cheapest way into medium format, for me at least, is a Lomo 166, or kiev 60. Depending on where you live, you can find them even cheaper, you ain't gonna see old people selling cheap mamiya's around here though

    • @adrianhlina401
      @adrianhlina401 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, Lubitels and Lomos can be had for pennies, but I kind of hesitate to load a 15€ portra into a 10€ camera. Kiev 60 is quite nice imo. Pentacon six or kiev 88 are also affordable choices here and I really like Moskva 5 w fomapan for example. But boy oh boy, Mamiya 67 is just such a Machine. Sadly, out of reach rn.

    • @AlexandruMusetoiu
      @AlexandruMusetoiu 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@adrianhlina401 yes. we both gonna buy a mamiya, one day, just gotta have a bit of patience. today i'll test a lubitel 166b with a foma 400, wondering what the result will be.

    • @adrianhlina401
      @adrianhlina401 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, we'll work our way up to it.😎
      Lubitel has a nice swirly bokeh for portraits.
      I personally like to soak fomapan in HC110 for high contrast and shoot the 400 as a 200 iso (which it is in fact).
      Good luck with the combo. You can do some good work with it. It's all about the photographer right? Enjoy and have great day m8.

  • @joecj840
    @joecj840 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Keep it up. The way film is making a comeback, cameras like the RB 67 are ridiculously cheap. I don't think it will stay that way forever. Digital cameras just don't stir the kind of emotions with film camera. Hopefully, the repair shops can hold out until them.
