From a dancer's POV this is not an amateur production. Fran & Barry Weissler's Broadway transfer was a somewhat cheesy-looking off-broadway "reading," and this show appears to be following that route. Low-budget doesn't mean low talent; the singers and dancers here are hardly amateur. The sound is good, and the lighting is exquisite. Chicago was a bomb when it opened, but by the time Fran & Barry got their clutches on it, their property became the longest-running revival in Broadway history. Chicago made the Weisslers very rich and successful producers. (The more of this vid I watch, the more I am convinced it could be Broadway bound. Remember, Chicago was initially panned for being so preposterous, and boring. It is a boring show dramatically. It's really held together by the performances.
Well, I liked this much better than many who commented. The obvious comparison is the movie, but such a comparison is unfair - even the most pro production would come off second. My biggest complaint is deciding on a single camera, tight cutting of 3 cameras would have made this work much better - you must be prepared to throw away much of the detail, leaving it to the audio to convey the whole picture. As a show, Chicago has its weaknesses, weaknesses that can only be solved by presenting it as a movie. I think this is a bloody good attempt.
@@achitophel5852 Chicago the show IS flat and dull. The musical numbers are there to keep the audience awake. It was a Bob Fosse show which meant his trademark, dancing. If you don't like the choreography and performances, you could go see Wicked with all the other 12 year old girls.
Spoken by someone who doesn't sing dance or act di you even know how hard it is to be on stage probably not it's easier to criticise those who are spending their lives to make you happy shameful

''My Own Best Friend''..1st part final number
Like that they combined stuff from the original 1975 Broadway production (especially with the set) and the current revival.
Chicago - I loved the movie!
Wonderful. I had watched the musical at Valladolid, Spain.
Love the stage lighting!

He said a little louder and they heard a little tone deaf

From the first word the guy spoke to the terrible band this production is turkey.
I'd have thought it would be impossible to make Chicago flat and dull - but this cast have managed it.

If this was an amatuer show it was very good if it was a prefessional show it was awful

A much more believable Roxie than Renee Zelwigger who couldn't play lower class at all.

Terrible production Billy Flynn shocking acting

Why the dance is like middle school? Main cast not good at all It can’t compare with Movie that Catherine & Renee play at all 🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱
They're taking the choreography from the stage musical and Bob Fosse is a legend. He was an amazing dancer
Roxy is annoying
