Thank you for showing how to use the fish hook sharpener. I don't fish, but curiosity was killing me. I'm still learning this particular sharpening stone. At first I equated it with a steel but learned, after I downloaded the manual, that it actually sharpens.
This stone helped me out today with my sharpening process. It took me longer to set up everything inside the house than it took to sharpen 8 very dull kitchen knives. I used two larger stones and this multi-stone in this video.
The package says it's fine enough to give a knife a razor edge. And on Amazon the company says to rinse with water or a wet paper towel. And to add oil or water to it. So these are all very different things. Which is right?
Recieve8one for Christmas last year. Put it to work right away. Does an excellent job of sharpening blades in the field. Coarse side even manages to put an edge on damaged axe heads!
I've had this sharpener for a couple of years and I generally really like the results... but it has now developed several cut mark / grooves on the very edge of the course side that catch the blade and wreck my sharpening progress... and suggestions for fixing this, and avoiding it? I'm ready to buy a new one, but I'm not sure if i will buy this one again unless I know how to avoid this from happening a second time.
This is nice. But it doesn't last as long as my chefic whetstone. Overtime it will be less efficient. But it works great for a few time. Until it becomes useless.
@@manuelrojas9749 I still have and use mine (I do outdoor stuff, but not frequently so results may vary if you're very active). I bought mine so long ago like 2017 ish? Still works
If you're familiar with many other of Smith's brand products. You'd notice that they've been pretty damn serious about main things no.1 . They want you to be able to use the product immediately upon opening the box when you buy it. No b.s. wasting time setting shit up that should already have been done by a dedicated employee. no.2. Functionality is a must. No point in having a bunch of grooves, and random edges and whatnot all over just because someone got too "inspired" after working with the industrial super glue too long before giving design ideas. no.3. Smith's been doing this shit since 1886. Says so right there on their products. So they are proud of their legacy and the fact the Smith name has been around for so many years, its like a piece of the original founder Mr. Smith himself is a part of everything they make. Well this product literally does have a part of the old man. They stuck pieces of bone, tooth and other hardened body parts of Mr. Smith's skeleton in each one made. And that would be the unexplainable rattling around noise you may be hearing. I defy you to find any incorrect part of what I've stated in this comment. You can look it all up for yourself. Oh, that noise could also be looseness where the two pieces attach causing some movement and rattling about.

This is the best sharpener I have and I love the results it gives me!

Thank you for making this video and including fishing hooks.
I own one of these, they work great...i havent yet figured out what grits they are...is it 400 600?
Thanks for the video. , now I can sharpen all my knives.
Do I use it without water entirely?
Yup. Water will rust it. Dry it after using water. Probably best not to use water
Very helpful thank you

I can’t get my blade sharp
you and me both rick
Buyers should watch this product. I could not get it to work right and it ruined my patina finish on my knife.
is the 750 supposed to be enough to cut paper? bc mine doesn't...i mean it does but it's way way too toothy
you have a ceramic hone on the side and a ferro rod why did you show and demonstrate those features? you are selling your product short.
I baught 1 today. Hope it works good. I'm putting it in my survival pack. And there not doing it right
Mind sharing how you liked it? Do you recommend buying one?

I have one, but what is the rattle inside?
I'd like to know this answer myself. About to bust it open to find out.

okay so the dude said to not put water on it so I'm for sure not putting water on it....but why not put water on it?
It’ll rust
This sharpener doesn't work at all..... Feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading all these good reviews 👀
Thanks this was helpful
Don't waste your money on this. Great way to make a dull knife worse and drive yourself insane trying to figure out what you're doing wrong.
😊
