Fantastic to watch. I'm just about to maiden my XLe with kopilot. I'm nowhere near your level of experience so the kopilot will do for now. Maybe when I grow up hey? Just turned 50😆. Cheers mate, Mick in the 🇬🇧
Love it as always my friend! Also just got one of the AR Wing Pro's, and about to put a 405 board on it with CrossFire receiver. Goes good with the big SkyHunter.
Great job. PT + Auto is just a great combination. I like sending the plane out on a "mission" then using remaining battery to do some cruising. Great video. Next up? Safety lights for night flying.
lol I do like a good pan/tilt. Flying without one is what I'd imagine it would be like sitting next to the window on a plane and now being allowed to look out of it... haha
Many eucalyptus trees out there? They can breath out a mist that looks like that, it's the oil they make, suspended in warm air. It's the reason the "Blue Mountains" in New South Wales are 'blue'... IIRC, pines can do similar, which is why bushfires can be very destructive, as the oil vapour burns off.
There's none that I know of, I don't think they even grow here, at least not natively. No native pines either until you get a bit farther north. Down here it's all hardwood.
Thanks for the smooth flight around the neighborhood.....I have been using Arduplane and Mission Planer for a number of years now.....really worth the effort. I've been hanging off on getting the Dart XLH...something new on the horizon....keen to see what it is going to be.....any hints.???

Yeah this has worked out to be a pretty nice setup in my opinion. It was an easy build, and works well. Enjoyable to fly, nothing to complain about. What more can we ask for? kik
I hadn't thought of that... It's possible I guess! It was odd since it seemed to be one line running almost north and south, not very wide either. Most of the time something that come in from far away like that just sort of leaves a haze in the whole sky.
Just a theory, though I agree that it did look rather isolated to that one area over the trees. Flying here LOS last night, I could see some haze between me and the airplane at about 150'. Looked a lot like fog.
Wow, That camera is just perfect for these flights. How well did you see that smoke on your screen? Fun and educational flight. " It's pretty dark" "Ah it is later than I thought" " were going to turn around and head home" A Pilot's decision making process.
I could see it pretty good on the feed, still don't know what that was. It got dark pretty fast! lol I guess those long summer evenings are coming to an end. :( I'll have to start squeezing my flights in sooner to beat the night if I want to stay in the air longer.
Great great flight sir. I am using your long sliders on the Jumper T16 with a rubber o-ring. A bit snug now to the point where I can't feel the already weak detent so I have a center beep for all S1-4. I need to see how to backup the Ardupilot config, then I'd be happy to share it. I should probably back it up to be safe anyway... lol I saw there's a new stable f/w out now, I think 4.0.6? I didn't update yet because I haven't backed up. lol

@@bonafidepirate Yes the link works. I'm trying to compare with my F405 wing config. OSD is different. Your Mode selection is strange to me or I'm looking at it wrong. Will get back when I understand what I am seeing.
For modes I'm using them on the 6-pos switch in the TX16S. I have them as follows: 1-Manual 2-FBWA 3-Cruise 4-Takeoff 5-Auto 6-RTL In the radio itself I have the endpoints set down so each position of the switch falls into the proper range expected. I found that setting the endpoints for -79.5 - +79.5 worked for me. The actual outputs from 1-6 on that channel in uS using those endpoints are 1093, 1256, 1419, 1581, 1744, 1906. That was much easier than setting up a custom curve like I've seen in some videos.

What's your settings on the Caddx Turtle V2 I have the same camera and I can't get my Analog to look that good. I have it setup in my Nano Talon recording HD footage only.
"We all know that never happens..." Truth! LOL! I worked 30 years at IBM repairing main frame computers and peripherals and if we fixed an issue, and weren't sure what actually was the fix because we tried several things at once, we would write in the machine logs "FWT, FWT" which is "F*** With This, F*** With That". That's pretty much what we do for fun. LOL!
Is that the more technically advanced version of turning it off and back on again? :p I like those problems that sort them selves out, until they pop up again and you have to start over knowing it's going to be hard to track it down... lol
Dang son.... sitting here in the airport for an early flight, only to see you uploaded a video! Someone doesn't sleep well You should be up high enough I would think to not disturb the hunters. And at 350' up not sure bird shot would really do much to the plane. It may pepper it a little, but probably not much
Do you get any jello in your HD recording on the Caddx Turtle? I printed your caddx pan tilt and I'm getting a little bit. Do you have any tips on how to get rid of it?
The most important thing is having a good smooth running motor/prop. Not only balancing the prop, but after mounting it on the motor, run the motor and feel for any vibration. If there's any, try turning the prop on the motor shaft and bit until you find where it runs the smoothest, and if you can't get it perfect try adding little bits of tape to one prop blade or the other until it is. These light weight CMOS HD cameras are the hardest to get good video from free of jello! lol
I have not tried auto land yet. I probably will at some point, but I'll be ready to take over if it doesn't look good... lol I'm curious to see how well it will hit the center line without getting in a fence or a tree. We'll see at some point! lol
I haven't paid much attention to that one honestly. The wings looks dis-proportionally small and the nose long, that's about as far as I got... lol That's just my quick first impression from seeing pictures though. ;)
Hello, I flew this wing with an arduplane F4 controller. I noticed that when you pitch the plane down, it climbs back up again, this happens in acro or manual mode. i changed the thrust angle and made sure the CG is right, but i still see this effect. Have you seen while testing this wing ?
The only problem I had was in cruise mode, while descending, when I released the stick to level off it would ramp the throttle up quickly and result in a bit of a climb before leveling off. I changed the 'THR_SLEWRATE" parameter to slow that throttle change a bit and it seemed to calm it down some. I haven't seen an issue in manual mode though. Manual should just be a pass-through without manipulating the control surfaces.
So far it seems to shrug off a 10mph wind pretty good, I don't hesitate to fly in it. I haven't flown it in much higher than that yet though, that's pretty much all we've had here since I got it in the air.
I like them both, and both are capable models. For a first FPV platform, I'd probably lean more towards the Dart XL. It's easier to set up with less motors and control surfaces, and easier to launch and land since it's wing loading is lighter than the Binary. It's a bit more floaty. Other have issues with the Binary when flying it too slow and heavy on the sticks, it can stall without much warning. I personally haven't had the issues, but some have. lol The Dart XL Enhanced fixed a few little issues with the original to make it even better, I think it's a well rounded model that works.
I don't think so, at least I don't see any mention of it here: github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module/blob/master/Protocols_Details.md That's the list of protocols supported by the multi-protocol modules like the one in the TX16S.
I'm liking it quite a bit so far, and looking forward to using it more in the future. I think it offers plenty more "advanced" functionality and it will be a while before I run out of things to do with it and get bored... lol
