Hey mate an excellent alternative to termites are maggots, sounds terrible I know but once you start producing maggots you'll never go back to termites. Some of your pairs might be a bit stubborn to start but they'll eventually relent and go for the maggots. Happy to send you a video on how i brred the maggots for my birds if you want it.
Been a fan of yours for a little while. Very informative and you explain things in detail so it's easy to understand. I commented before that I have a feeder for all my wild avian friends here in Hawaii. I plan on building a small aviary to house finches and canaries. Any suggestion as to which species to start with?
Thanks man I appreciate that, sorry didnt see the previous comment. I guess it all depends on your goals with the species. If you just want an aviary so you can keep a collection of finches that are beautiful and are not focused or worried about breeding than go for all an any you find attractive, but if your main focus will be breeding then start with species that are easier so you can learn prior to jumping into the harder ones. Good begginer species are society finches, zebra finches, stars, owl finches and gouldians. These are all usually easy to find and will breed
Love your videos.thank you.i have a pair of zebra finches.black throated finches.parakeets.button quail.and one shafttail finch. All in my bedroom in windows so i can hear them soon as i wake up.
This sounds nosey but I'm not. I'm a 73 yr old who had finches before. I love them all. I'm in Florida Dental just slow Tampa. I'm wondering if you're in a cold area and/ or, if you have trouble keeping them warm in winters? I want to get back into having them. THEY made me so happy.
How can I feed my RCCB live termites w/out infesting my house? I have given my Orange Breasted live meal worms and they weren’t interested. Where do you get clean pine straw?
love your channel man. question, are you not worried they could escape from where the water/food bowls are inserted and the door to them being left unsecured/locked down?
Thankyou bro 🙏 and yes I made sure to secure that door on the food enclosure and latch it shut in case they try to escape through there. Im more afraid of predators than anything else, but i think they will do just fine out there. Nothing better than fresh air and sunlight for birds 😁
I have, for 3 years, two painted finches in huge aviary .3x3x12m. They keep building nests in the boxes but never lay eggs. I do not know what to do or what I do wrong. I keep thrm wth perrot finches together.
@paradiseaviary you already know my brother!🙌 If you have a spare red billed fire finch hen & red cheek Cordon bleu hen please let me!! You have my info. Bless you always 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thankyou good luck to you aswell with your season. I was thinking about doing the same this year and starting later since it seems like the birds perform the best around Dec, Jan and Feb but I could resist the urge to pair up lol
Years of trial and error, ive made so many mistakes over the years and ive learned from them. Also reading books on the species I keep and breed so I can learn about their behavior, habits, housing requirements, diet, breeding and so on.
hey just curious what do you do with the birds you breed? DO you sell them? I am a huge fan of the finch and waxbill. I owned some years ago and had a massive cage for them. I wont own them again until I own my own home and can build an aviary
Yes I have a website paradiseaviaryexotics.com/ I sell them there. Hope you can own your home soon so you can start keeping these beautiful birds again
Hi, my name is Alfredo Santos and I have a black & white silver beak and it's very hard for me to find a female for him. What type of female can I cross them with? Please let me know
One wing only? Somewhere i have seen that it is retally somehow dangerous for the bird. Throws him in flight and landing. Both wings were recommended. just to slow the bird down. Not to screw his flight. I always did both but have no experience to do just one wing. It makes sense though. Maybe for large heavy parrots it might make the difference.
He leaves the outer most 4-5 primary flight feathers. I believe that makes a very large difference. In clipping barnyard fowl (chickens, guineas, ducks, etc) I take all the primaries from one wing. I don't remove secondary flights the way he does. When I clipped parakeet wings, I'd take all primaries from both wings. I believe what he does is safe and effective for the type of birds he is handling.

Breaks my heart that only a small amount of twinspots remain in Australia. Due to biosecurity laws. We've had no new finches imported since 1945.
GREEN Lunatics are in power in Australia. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH EVERYTHING HERE NEARLY EVERYTHING IS ILLEGAL.
Nice video
wow

Hi, are you not concerned that the males take out their frustration on the females, as the males can not get to each other?
