    I love using fountain pens. I had heard before I filled my first one that India Ink is a major no-no in fountain pens. If you want water-proof ink, I use and recommend Platinum Carbon black ink but there are others around like Noodlers.
    It does sound like the capillary Chanel’s in your nib might still be slightly blocked by the dried India Ink. You could try standing the pen nib-down in an inch or so of a high-alcohol spirit like vodka or straight ethanol if you have it in a heat-proof glass or cup. It might help to stand the glass/cup in a bowl of hot water to warm the alcohol. Also a drop of dish washing liquid in the alcohol might help too. Once you get your pen working properly and find the right ink, you won’t look back. Good luck

      Oh that is some great advice, if notice that it has still issues I will do that, I hav some medicinal alcohol so I can use that. Thanks a lot!

      @@robertlkiss you are welcome. I’ve heard it works well especially with the detergent and warming for very stubborn blockages

      Make sure it’s not rubbing alcohol which is isopropanol. This probably won’t work as well.

    Hi Robert, which fountain you bought? Regardless if you're planning to using it on a regular basis, I recommend you to acquiere a fude nib for it: the nib allows a lot of line variation according to the angle you use to the point to actually "paint" relatevely big areas!

    • @robertlkiss
      @robertlkiss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a Faber Castell pen. Thanks for the recommendation, I will look into it!

      @@robertlkiss Also always double check the type of ink. There are a lot of brands but for personal experience Parker quink and Waterman's are fairly cheap and do not bleed as much in regular paper and many color options. I heard Noodler's is also great 👍

    I started following you last year, am too artists since childhood and still love To draw, but last year when I started to follow I thought I would be learning something new, your channel is great, but sorry to say that I lost motivation to learn this is due to upcoming era of Ai, as I can see all people are just making random stuff using Ai, but talentd artist like you are losing identity, I feel bad for me and other artists, my interest was rising in art before Ai, but as soon Ai came, my interest just went off 😔
    But you keep going on , i will be your subscriber till last, will try to learn something new from you!!!
    Thanks and all the best

      Aw man sorry to hear that but don’t let yourself be demotivated. AI is fun and all but art is about creativity and self expression. AI is not self expression but generation images based on prompts you give it. I think the value and beauty in creativity hides in the word “create” no matter if your creation is amazing or not the feeling of having created something by yourself, having come up with the idea and worked for it is something that you will not get with an ai generated image. If I need a solution in the house I could buy a doohickey off the internet but instead I go out get some wood and Frankenstein together a solution, it looks worse, might not function as well as a ready bought solution but I created it. It’s mine. That is something AI will never take from me no matter how good it will be. If you look at art and AI from that point of view, I don’t see why AI development should have any effect on your pursuit of art.

    For fountain pen inks, you need to be very careful about the ink you're using in the converter.
    Dye based inks are low maintenance, but the ink can be re-activated with water when on the paper. So if you do an under drawing with a dye based ink, you might have a surprise when you use a liquid medium over it.
    Pigment based inks for fountain pen, depending on how often you use your pen, will probably need more maintenance, but pigmented inks are generally more water resistant/proof and resist light.
    This video is a relatively complete guide on fountain pens.

      yeah I made the exact mistake of using the wrong in for this pen. I guess I learned from my own mistakes. The blue ink I ordered is definitely not water resistant at all. But for now since I am learning with it it will be fine like this as well.
