    I followed the same path. Had a 50cc and then moved up to a 150cc. I still wanted more and ended up buying a used 2009 Honda Silver Wing 600. Absolutely love it

    I have had several maxi scooters over the past 20 years and I wouldn't have anything else. All the fun of a motorcycle (as long as you don't want to ride at anything over the legal speed limit) with inbuilt storage and weather protection.

    Kymco is a good choice ✌🏼 for the price
    I just to have the xciting 500cc 2005 and the People S 250cc for my wife but she never ride the 250 years ago and now I’m riding the C400 GT from BMW 🙌🏼🙏🏼
    Love it
    Yamaha Xmax got a lot of aftermarket racing part
    I want one of those ✌🏼

    I just picked up a 2021 XMax last month to replace my 2004 Honda Silver Wing. It’s a good bit lighter and easier handling, the power is impressive for it’s size.
    The market is crazy right now, dealers don’t deal, if you find what you want you have to grab it.

      Yep your right! Dealers are not getting my maxi scooters to sell and they charge every penny possible when they have one to sell.

    Also a maxi scooter cost of ownership is lower than a car, fuel price savings, only two tyres to replace, only two break pads, etc😅

    Great video, & informative, now to your point about step through Scooters I'm kind of in the middle with agreeing with you on why Maxi Scooter are more capable. I get that's your opinion
    based in some facts. However I own a 2016 Kymco People GT 300i & it is compairitivly capable as your Xmax 300. To be completely honest the one limiting factor with my People 300 is fuel range 2.4gal I have done some Touring with it traveling over a state or two just cause its capable, but the 2.4gal
    tank holds it back, oh & the under seat tray/storage, comes
    with a color matched top box .
    Still i enjoy my scooter. It's was my #1 choice when I upgraded from my 150cc. Again great video bro.

    • @nemanjatosovic
      @nemanjatosovic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The people 300 is great, like you said a rival to the Xmax, also much bigger than internet photos would suggest. It has the same power plant as a downtown 300i which I have so it’s probably quicker off the line than my Xmax. I do however prefer the look of a maxi styled scooter it has more of a motorcycle look but the people 300 is awesome.

    I've rode motorcycles since 1964 and curently have a HD Tri-Glide, which I hate. It rides like a dump truck and is hard to steer. I am thinking about going a maxi-scooter because my wife alway rides with me and we travel some highways where the speed limits are 70mph. I usually stay at 65 mph.
    I like the XMax but they are hard to find. I found a 2022 Kymco X-Town 300 i with only 1600 miles for $3500 and a 2008 SYM for $1200. I don't know much about a SYM. What do you think? Should I gamble on the SYM just to see is we like maxi-scooters? Should I buy thr Kymco? Or should I wait until the 2024 Yamaha X-MAx is available? You know a lot more about scooters than I do, so I value your opinion.

    • @nemanjatosovic
      @nemanjatosovic  ปีที่แล้ว

      The SYM is very comparable to Kymco. Both are reputable Taiwanese brands.
      The only problem with both brands is the lack of proper dealer support in the US. I’ve owned multiple Kymcos and getting even the most basic replacements parts takes months.
      Also, dealer mark ups on parts are very expensive. Comparable parts for a Japanese scooter will run you half.
      I don’t know what SYM model you’re referring to however as far as the XTown is concerned, they are good bikes. Simple, reliable, good looking.
      I owned a downtown 300i by Kymco, that model was replaced by the XTown, it was pretty great. My only gripe was that the seating position was too cramped. XTown is similar. The back rest is too forward so one can’t really move back to stretch their legs.
      Not sure what your budget is. But I’ll write down a list of what I think are the best options for those of us in the US.
      1: Piaggio BV400 - similar in size to the Xmax, has more power, great dealer support, made by the company that owns Vespa, in my opinion, a great looking Italian scooter. The downside is the price which is over $7,000 new, probably close to $8,500 with fees.
      A 1-2 year old models with very low milage can be found for around $5,000 or less, which I think is the way to go.
      A good deal on a 2021 or 2022 would be around 4200-4500 a fair deal around 5,000.
      2. Xmax - If you can’t source a new model, try finding the last gen one, that’s the one I have. They are absolutely identical to the new model underneath the skin. The only difference between the two are plastic fairings and the addition of a fully digital display on the new model.
      New, they run a bit over $6,000 plus fees etc. you’re probably looking at around $7200-$7500 all in. Used, you should be able to find ones with very low miles as in just broken in, 1-2 years old, for around $5,000 maybe even a bit less.
      A good deal on a 2022,21,20,19,18 models with low milage is around 4250-4500 a fair deal right around 5000 for the 22s and 4500ish for the older models like a 2018.
      3. Suzuki Burgman 400 - new, they’re quite pricy, over $8,000 and don’t offer anything the Xmax and BV don’t. The only cool trick is with the rear suspension which features a more sophisticated single shock which is a bit more comfortable on bumpy roads.
      I’d definitely look for used models, a 1-2 year old new gen model will be around $5500. A good deal on a used 2023,22,21 is around $5,000, fair deal around 5,500-6,000.
      Older models, as in last gen, from 2012,13,14 are just as good and can be had for 2750-3500.
      4. Kymco AK550, the best maxi scooter for sale in the US. It features a twin 550cc engine that will leave all others on this list in the dust. However, although they’re reliable, I’ve read from some owners that the engine is prone to leaking oil and the dealer support is very poor so although they have a great warranty, it’ll take them months to get parts and do any work on the bike if it needs to be at the shop. They’re also pricey at over $10,000 new.
      Used models, as in 21,22s can be found for 6500-7500.
      If we were in Asia or Europe I’d get the Kymco AK but in the US, I’d pass only because of the lackluster dealer support.
      5. BMW 400gt - similar size to the burgman, the 400gt has cool tech like heated grips, full tft digital display, easily adjustable windscreen… it’s a nice scooter but the price runs a bit too rich at over 8000 for new models, close to or even over 9000 with fees reg. They’re kind of hard to find used, but, a good deal would be at around 6500 for a 1 year old model.
      6. Kymco XTown - simple and reliable, top speed is around 80 mph so doing 65 shouldn’t be an issue even with a pillion. As Kymco isn’t very well known by the American buyers, you can often get dealers to wave most fees so a new one will run you about $5500.
      3500 is a fair deal for a 2022. I’m sure you can even get the seller to drop it to 3000 if not 2750 simply because they are a hard sell.
      I’ve seen 21-22 models sell for as low as 2500 which is a steal. If you’re set on the Xtwon see to get it for around 3000 so in case you don’t like it you don’t end up loosing a lot of money. That’s the only thing with Kymcos, they are hard to sell.
      An Xmax on the other hand for example is probably the easiest sell of all.
      7. SYM Citycom - a smallish maxi similar in performance to the XTown. Great bikes however the lackluster dealer support would deter me from getting one. However, I’ve not seen one owner complain about reliability.
      8. Kymcos new CV3 - this is a three wheeler comparable to Piaggios MP3 only better looking. They were just brought over. The price tag is way too much but I thought I’d mention it also. It’s engine comes from the AK550 but it has a very sophisticated from suspension setup. It’s over $11,000 which is just not worth it. Less money will get you a Honda nc750x with their dual clutch auto transmission which is a much better bike.
      A few options on the used market, Yamaha Majesty, a good example with low miles and regular maintenance should run about 3000. Honda Reflexes are a little less expensive. Kymco has a few models like the exciting and downtown which can be found for under 2000. Older piaggios are also available but they hold their value well. Hard to find them under 3000.
      Lastly If you want something super classy, that can easily cruise 65-70. You can look at Vespas GTS line up.
      They’re pricy when bought new, all in the price is probably around $800-8500, but they’re so good looking, capable, have huge followings…
      Used models however can be found for around 5000-6000. And when I say used I mean 1-2 year old models with very low miles.
      So there’s some options for you.
      If my top priority was reliability this is my list:
      1. Xmax
      2. Burgman
      3. Piaggio BV
      4. Vespa GTS, BMW and Xtwon
      If my priority was a combination of looks, reliability, dealer support, and general fun this would be my list:
      1. Vespa GTS and Piaggio BV
      2. Xmax
      3. BMW 400gt
      4. Kymco AK550
      To only answer your question, I think 3500 is a fair deal but you can try to get it for a bit less. Just so in case you don’t like it you don’t loose much on it later. I’d voice that to the seller too.
      If you want the Xmax, but don’t want to wait, look on the used market.
      You can also let me know where you’re from and I can see if something near you pops up.

    What do you recommend for a budget scooter? I’m looking for something newer that can go at least 65 mph. I live in Florida.

    • @nemanjatosovic
      @nemanjatosovic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You don’t have a ton of options, the Yamaha SMax is probably your best bet. In terms of value, quality and speed. They top out around 70 mph and you should find a good used model for maybe $2500. Another option is a Kymco XTown 300, Kymco people 300 or Kymco Downtown 300. Depending on year and model, I see them up for sale for between 1750-3500 for very low miles examples. Honda pcx is a good choice but they won’t do 65 mph. 60 is realistically all they can do. Everything else will be more expensive.
      What’s your budget? If you can get out of Florida s and go a bit north you can get a good price. Scooters down south keep their value.
      Piaggio BV is good but a bit more pricy to maintain, maybe Burgman 200, but they too are over $4000.
      It depends on your budget and needs

    • @mikeh7220
      @mikeh7220 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nemanjatosovic I would say my budget is between $2500-$4000 range. When you say farther north, whereabouts? I was looking at the PCX and SMax. A New SMax tends to be pricer.

    • @nemanjatosovic
      @nemanjatosovic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mikeh7220 Florida is tough, in the Midwest you can get a 6 month old smax that someone bought to go camping and now never does with under 100 miles for 2500-3000 and that is for a 2020/21 model. Same with the pcx. Florida is rough, but I think if you keep looking you’ll find something. Pcx, smax, adv 150, Kymco xtown, they all can do 60+ and are fairly easy to maintain. If I had the choice I’d probably look for a nice Honda Adv or a Yamaha Smax. If you don’t mind a model that’s maybe 2,3 years old, I’m sure you could find a Kymco for around 2500 and they last just as long as Hondas.
      There’s a few Smaxs for sale in the Midwest for 2500 ish with basically no miles but unless you have a truck abs a day to spare it’s difficult to get them down south.

    • @nemanjatosovic

      @@mikeh7220 there’s a Kymco xtown 300 in Jacksonville for $3350, looks brand new, 170 miles 2020 model. You could talk them down to 3000, that’s a great deal as a new one will run close to 5000 now. They are very reliable too. There’s also a Suzuki Burgman 200 for $4800 in grand Island FL, also 2020.. I’d offer around 3800 for it abs would go as high as maybe 4200.
      You could probably get the xtown under 3000 too.
      New, there’s a few 150 cc you could go for that are around $2000-2700 but they will struggle to do 65 mph. If you can live with 50 mph there’s many more options.
      But again, the smax 155, burgman 200, maybe a pcx 150 are your best options. Oh yeah the xtown too. It’s probably the only newish 300 cc that can be found for under $3500. Also being a 300 it’ll do 70 mph all day without any issues.
      PS all of these I found on facebooks marketplace

    • @nemanjatosovic
      @nemanjatosovic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikeh7220 well, you might even find bargains in Georgia but the Midwest is where you can find the best deals. People here buy scooters to go camping and early do and 3 months later they sell them but as not many people buy scooters here, they go for very cheap. I just saw a guy sell a 2021 smax with 100 miles for under $2500. And newish 2020,2021 pcxs go for 2000-2500 too.
      Not sure how far you can travel, but I got my Xmax from a lady in Kansas, literally new she had it out a few times and didn’t really like it and sold it for $3000. That was literally a few months after she paid over $7000.
