Man, I hope Jon Bailey becomes the new main voice of Soundwave. I don't think its likely, but he carries Frank Welker's torch in that way better than anyone.
TF Prime Soundwave voice inferior and the reason for this is because I don’t like how gruff it sounds and it should’ve been Keith David voicing him using his Mongul voice from Young Justice which sounded way more sinister and menacing without sounding gruff.
It just baffles me how Michael bay got Frank Welker to voice soundwave in his movies but he sounds nothing like his original voice, but travis knight got jon bailey to voice him in the bumblebee movie and he sounds more like soundwave than he did in dark of the moon. How do you screw something like that up?
Probably because nobody working on Bay's movies was experienced with vocoders (Those were part of making Soundwave's voice, according to those tutorials) or Bay just wanted Soundwave to sound like that. I don't know what was going on over there, so those was just my best assumptions.
Frank Walker's TFP soundwave and John Bailey's Bumblebee Soundwave are by far the best, although I did think that Jeff Bennet's soundwave sounded rather fitting too.
Tutorials on TH-cam explain that a vocoder is part of how to capture the G1 Soundwave voice. All of those voice actors would work, but a vocoder plays a big part of his voice as well. If we were to go by those tutorials, Frank Welker used the same voice he provided for Revenge of the Fallen but it wasn't vocoded. (3-7-2021)

Isaac Singleton Jr (His voice is also like an improved G1 and is also badass and cool) 3. Frank Welker (You can't go wrong with the originals) I also have a soft spot for Peter Jessop who voiced Soundwave in Revenge of the Fallen: The Game. He was pretty cool.

I personally love such touch, but is it be bad?
Nah man, Animated Soundwave all the way, looooove the slightly musical tone they gave to his vocoding, very pleasant to listen to. Smooths out all the wrinkles in my brain.
Bumblebee finally got the missing part... the vocoder for Soundwave's voice... Michael Bay may have gotten Frank Welker back but they didn't do his usual vocoded voice effect so ends up just sounding like live action Dr Claw
Prime-version has most weight as that is his only spoken line. Robots In Disguise is nice evolution of that voice having cold, matter-of-fact tone. Frank Welker of course performed them all.

I wish most decepticons had a vocoded voice. It sounds so evil compared to the normal voices of the autobots. Imagine starscream or megatron with a voice like that. Badass
Frank was a god for the voice of soundwave and how they decided to make the voice go higher then lower in pitch has always been an amazing trait of the voice of soundwave
I was watching a French-language translation of one of the Michael Bay movies, and I heard (or thought I did) the unmodulated, Dr. Claw voice say, "Soundwave--reçu!" And I thought it would have been cool if Frank Welker had been the official French voice of Soundwave. But I think that was his only line.
Soundwave's voice just isn't right without the vocoder shifting the pitch up and down to provide the monotone Dr. Claw voice with a robotic tone emphasis. Otherwise it's just flat.
I like the one from Bumblebee and the G1 cartoon the best. Idk which is better, they're both just perfect to me. He needs to have extremely heavy vocoding and some of the others just missed the mark on the audio effects
I won't lie, as good as G1, TFP, WFC/FoC, and Bumblebee Soundwave's voices are.... I've been reminded that I have a soft spot for Welker's performance in RID
Transformer prime rid is the best in my opinion because the vocoder makes the voice sound inconsistent in the tone making sound wave seem more unpredictable

The original actor’s voice is still the same as in G1, just no vocoder on top.
