Lori, I am a certified picture framer with PPFA (Professional Picture Framer Association). I just thought I would toss in some more tips for framing your stitched pieces. The lacing method you demonstrated is the best way to mount your piece. One tip...when first placing your piece as you are centering it on the foam board, you can use straight pins in the edge of the board to tack in place before starting your lace. Once it looks good, you can remove the pins as you start your lacing. Tip two... the little metal tab things that hold the board in the frame are called "push pins" which Hobby Lobby does sell them if you should need more. Tip three...when putting on the paper backing, frame shops us a double sided tape called HTG tape. This is an acid free tap that will allow you to get the paper backing nice and taught and don't have to wait for glue to dry. The most important thing to keep in mind when framing stitched items is to use all acid free materials and you should be able to remove your stitching and get it back to original form. If any glue or adhesive on your piece, it will damage your lovely work. I hope this helps people to enjoy their work for many years.

Thanks, I always put pins in the edge of the mount board to position the fabric before lacing. Really helps.

I run a line of red sewing thread along the grain between the threads that should be on the very edge. Then I use sequin pins (very short) to pin the linen to the edge of the foam core and then lace.

My professional artist mother-in-law taught me this about framing: if you use craft paper on the back, after you have glued it down, and the glue is dry, spray a VERY LIGHT mist of water over it and it will tighten up as it dries. It gives a very professional finish to your framing. Any water that may hit the frame, just dab it up with an absorbent cloth.
That was a great tutorial, Lori! I'm sending it to a friend.

Thank you so much, Lori! I had watched a video on framing using the lacing method and they used such a LONG piece of string. When I tried it myself, I was so frustrated with the length of the string and the tangles that ensued! I’m going to try your method. Thank you for taking the time to do this!!

I know I can always count on you for my go to whatever I'm looking for to finish ANYTHING!! Or learn anything!! You're truly amazing!! And!! I just love this BEAUTIFUL cross-stitch The Lord's Prayer. Your frame is stunning! ABSOLUTELY perfect I say! When I lived in Canada we recited The Lord's Prayer every single morning before school started! Maybe the world would be a better place if we still all recited this BEAUTIFUL Prayer every single day!! 👍 After watching you I'm going to get mine kitted up! Thank you very much Lori!!
