discretion is the better part of valour. I run aground all the time - mostly deliberatly, but a swell and a hard bar is not a great combination. Sailing in scotland you expect at least 20 feet under the keel - in the solent or east anglia then two feet under the keel is plenty. It is strange how your perception of risk changes. Dylan PS - apologies for the profanity.
I am still working in the upstairs bedroom. BT have a "process". They like that word very much indeed. I have heard it many, many times over the past week. th-cam.com/video/UWtT8S3g8J0/w-d-xo.html
Dylan. The yacht you followed into Christchurch was a Southerly. With her keel swung up she draws less than a metre. Even the Southerly 57 only draws 3'6" with keel swung. They also have the luxury of a tough as old boots integral frame with a grounding plate on the bottom should they land a bit hard... The one you followed into Chichester looked like one too. Chichester is the worst place to play follow the leader as Southerlys are built at Itchenor and they are often out for a test sail or owners bringing them in for maintenance. Even the 40 foot C + C I sail in the UK only draws 4'2" with the plate swung up (8 with it down)! Be careful mate. I'd like you to finish the journey ;-) and do some programmes on the Bedfordshire Ouse system which I'm sure you would love before you retire.lol. www.southerly.com/yachts/
Absolutely loved the "F*, gonna chicken out" bit HAHA Thanks for leaving that bit in, we've all been there, and it's wonderful those human moments :)
