Included cable is approx 50’, not 15’. You can easily power the Mini with DC direct, and it uses approx 25W , just order the 5 meter StarLink DC USB-C cable.
Is the operating DC voltage 12v? I'm assuming the unit could be powered directly from a DC source i.e., battery(s) instead of using the supplied AC/DC walwart.
@@GYMusicYou will struggle to work it off 12v. It works much better on 24v, so just buy a cheap eBay voltage doubler (12 to 24v) if you want to run it from a 12v system rather than AC inverter.
It runs from 12 to 48 VDC. I've played around with it a lot and it really doesn't do well on 12v so I bought a 12 to 24v step up transformer so therefore I can use it off 12 volts.
So wait, do you NEED to pay the monthly fee to get Internet at all? Seems unwarranted to pay a monthly fee to pay for gigs if I'm only going to use it when there's no access to Internet. Or am I incorrect on my assumption?
Yes you need to pay for a monthly fee for internet. There’s a plan for $50/mo then you can just pause the subscription ad hoc so maybe you’ll travel this month then pause for next month. There’s no long term commitment.
I don’t typically buy extended warranties specifically. However that being said I did drop mine from the top of my truck bed down to the asphalt which ended up being perfectly fine just a few scratches on surface so… it’s probably worth the extra protection if you’re nervous about it.
Haha good point maybe irrational fear but at campgrounds stuff gets stolen like generators and that type of thing and being a $600 device made sense to me
We use the lithium battery in the trailer for everything in the trailer. I also have an inverter that I used the normal shore power plug in order to run the entire trailer off the lithium battery. here's a link to the battery: amzn.to/3zlRkPi here's a link to the inverter: amzn.to/3zo8Br0
In Europe when you have a phone subscription in your country you usually get 50gb of free data all over Europe. I don’t see why I would need to buy this thing. It’s expensive and the subscription is expensive
Oh that’s interesting in Europe. For me I needed it because I wanted to be able to work in an area that doesn’t get phone service or internet of any kind. So if you want internet where you aren’t normally able to get high speed 100mbs+ internet then you may benefit from it

This really is one of the most important devices in history. Every country on earth can instantly access Internet if they have one of these

I thought it would not work at all under trees like your camp site. I’m seriously impressed!
great review and video brotha. glad to know the video streaming worked decently
Thank you 🙏

If they could make a 12 volt connection option, that would be great!
They make a usb c cable you can buy and plug it into a portable power backup which could be beneficial.

How does the built in router not just burn up sitting in the sun all day? Pretty amazing...
The developers must have considered that during design and production.
Nice video. Can you activate/suspend/resume the service with the starlink connection or do you need another internet connection for that?
Yes you can suspend service at any time directly on the Starlink app it’s 1 month at a time you can pause and activate at any time.
get the ethernet cable they sell and it has the seal that retains the IP67 rating
Was $100... now it costs 2 mortgage payments. Thanks TH-cam 😂🤣
I just seen it for 60?

They’re throwing maintaining a network in orbit. You’re paying for that with the subscription.
Most sat link devices require subscription
Wow $600+ US. I just paid the equivalent of $200 and $35 a month (Australia)

You can get a usb c cable accessory and use a smaller portable battery you can use if you wanted to use it on a backpack

In the US, there are huge undeveloped areas that don't have good cell service or any service at all.
Why don't they make a laptop that has starlink built-in ??????????????????????¿?????¿¿??????¿¿???
Hmm this is a great idea I know they are working on building in Starlink to cell phones somehow I believe but that would be nice.
