This is a great tip to get rid of those nasty stains. I always add some baking soda to the wash when I clean my gi's and no gi gear, I also add downy unstoppables to the wash and my gear always smells good (even when soaked in sweat lol). Peroxide is also great to get blood out of your gi.

does it shrink cause you soaked it with hot water??

I think it’s more the dryer on high that shrinks. There’s is ultra minimal shrinks age in just hot water. From my experience

Can I do this after washing it ? Or does it need to be dry ? Thank you

Are these stains inevitable? Or is there a way to completely avoid them?

Yes but kinda no. If you wash them after use with vinegar and do a good job of keeping white gis off of the ground. I’ve found they don’t stain much BUT. After a lot of use it is more than likely to happen.

If I soak a gi for a couple of days every week with diluted vinegar (while I wait to wash it at the end of the week), will it end up smelling like vinegar, or be weakened by the acid?

Truthfully I don’t know. I haven’t done longer than a day. I’ve never heard from someone saying that it makes their Gi smell like vinegar. The weakening is an interesting point. At a day or 2 I’d say no but a week? I feel like no but 🤷‍♂️ i want to only speak on what i KNOW

@@TreyCarterJJ I was going to do this to save on how many times a week I have to do washing, but after doing the numbers, the cost per load is negligible (~30c per wash for water) so I've abandoned the idea. I did soak a gi in disinfectant, water, and oxyclean and after a day it was so deep in I had to wash it twice to get it out.

@@VladimirGluten47 did any of it actually help though?

@@TreyCarterJJ I didn't take before and after photos so I'm not certain, but it wasn't like it went in yellowing and came out sparkling clean.

Please try the experiment with borax and make a video. Lol. My wife will use it to strip baby clothes and towels of germs and stuff. I know that it works to turn dingy white back to their original glory.
    Let us know!!!

So borax is great for the dark dirt spots I’ve found too. But there something about the yellow stains that slowly build up. I’ve only seen the sun actually knock them out.
