The most insane easter egg ever, if you can really classify it as such, is the entirety of Inscryption's story. Daniel Mullins put clues in all of his old games, even old demos of unreleased games, and even hid stuff in the real world that was required to fully unlock and understand Inscryption. Seeing all of it unfold blew my mind, it's unbelievable.
With the Dying Light 2 hoverboard (and broomstick) easter eggs, you can keep the hoverboard and broom for the open world, you just have to, in the middle of the race, go to the nearest safe zone with a player stash, store it in there, then you will fail the race, but if you quit out of it you can just go back to your stash and retrieve it
Borderlands Pre Sequel also has a fully playable section relating to Mario. You'd never knew it was there unless you A) heard through a third party, or B) like to fully explore areas. Same enemies as the area you came from, but the layout of the area is very reminiscent of the retro Mario games
TPS remains the greatest Aussie game ever. How can you not like a game that has an enemy called the "Jolly Swagman"? Or Captain Chef? Or the Boganella?

My favourite Easter egg will always be the Monty Python and the holy grail reference in The Witcher 3. Stumbled on it by complete chance and instantly recognised it, which was really satisfying. It was a small cave entrance with severed limbs and body parts scattered around it. With one small fluffy white bunny rabbit sitting in amongst all the horror, yet looking adorable 😂
The more that I learn about Tunic, the more it makes me sad that the last boss(es) had such an absurd skill curve. If it wasn't for that one thing, I would put it up there amongst the greatest games ever.
I think it's cause they're passionate about what they do, it's a fairly small team and they have really good chemistry and have been around a bit. If you compare like IGN there's several hundred people doing random content that's disingenuous cause alot of them don't know anything about games but studied in a certain field that "qualifies" them. TL;DR small team of actual gamers making great content for gamers.
Translating, or decoding might be more accurate, the Tunic cypher/language was a lot of fun for me. The game was already blowing my mind with all the secrets within secrets within secrets. THe number of secrets was INSANE and AMAZING! That game really opens up once you start collecting the manual pages and I was totally there for it all. I think I ended up with like 4 pages of grid paper fully of notes finding all the secrets and decoding the language. Got to the point I could read the language on my own.... if a bit slowly.
to be precise, dying light 2's hoverboard WAS obtainable in some earlier versions of the game if u just moved out of the given path and reach an specific safehouse before the timer runs out, u could simply put the hoverboard inside ur safehouse stash and exit the game, after returning u could see the hvoerboard simply lying there in ur stash ready to use freely, u could use the same method for some other easter egg limited stuff including harry potters broom or the doom guy shotgun, sadly it got patched in the later releases but if u managed to get ur hands on them, they never actually removed it from the players inventories.
With the writing, Falcon's delivery and the jokes, this video is high on my list. We need a top 10 funniest gameranx videos. The one when Falcon talks about sneaking around the house to go to the bathroom when you're up late playing video games was priceless.

Pitfall on the Atari 2600 had a secret room. If you swing on one of the vines 3 times and land on the side you first grab it. It opens an underground vault with gold in it. It was a complete accident that I found it.

I found that 2001 Easter Egg on my own (I try to explore everything, specially in Open World games) and it blew my mind. You can also find BL version of R2D2 and C3PO in TPS. The whole Borderlands series is a Pop Culture references and Easter Eggs Paradise. From character (Bruce Maclane or Mad Mel) or creature names (Mothrakk or Skagzilla) to Locations (the Rakk Cave or this Monolith), they are everywhere.
Most genius easter egg imo is Bethesda hiding Saint Jubs head in Oblivion, which is only revealed in the Soul Cairn in a Skyrim DLC, 8 years after Oblivions release
My favorite easter egg from dying light is the mario easter egg, this is on the first dying light game, where on the second map you reach where there's a specific pipe chimney you can go down and cross this little small while you step on small goombas that are small tiny zombies Another one is on borderlands 2, the lord of the rings easter egg where when you finish the game, go back to where you started the game and saw claptrap, in the fireplace you'll find a ring and you gotta walk all the way from that map to eridum stone map without driving or dying...and throw the ring into the lava, then you'll see 3 rakks fly by and drop 3 chests
Love easter eggs. My first ever was way back in a PC game called F-14 Top Gun. In one mission if you flew to a certain place, you'd find... a dragon! Flying along, flapping, breathing fire. I shot it down with the M61 20mm cannon. In the post mission briefing it said "Puff the dragon was shot down by Maverick..." man, I laughed.

I found that 2001 Easter Egg on my own (I try to explore everything, specially in Open World games) and it blew my mind. You can also find BL version of R2D2 and C3PO in TPS.
The whole Borderlands series is a Pop Culture references and Easter Eggs Paradise. From character (Bruce Maclane or Mad Mel) or creature names (Mothrakk or Skagzilla) to Locations (the Rakk Cave or this Monolith), they are everywhere.

My favorite easter egg from dying light is the mario easter egg, this is on the first dying light game, where on the second map you reach where there's a specific pipe chimney you can go down and cross this little small while you step on small goombas that are small tiny zombies
Another one is on borderlands 2, the lord of the rings easter egg where when you finish the game, go back to where you started the game and saw claptrap, in the fireplace you'll find a ring and you gotta walk all the way from that map to eridum stone map without driving or dying...and throw the ring into the lava, then you'll see 3 rakks fly by and drop 3 chests

Love easter eggs. My first ever was way back in a PC game called F-14 Top Gun. In one mission if you flew to a certain place, you'd find... a dragon! Flying along, flapping, breathing fire. I shot it down with the M61 20mm cannon. In the post mission briefing it said "Puff the dragon was shot down by Maverick..." man, I laughed.
