A bunch of friends having fun, peak youtube, this video has such an old vibe to it, like one of those videos that youtube recommends to everyone 13 years after it's been uploaded, it's actually nicer that some new ones
i think i remember mozart trying to invent something like this, but he wasnt talented enough to realize it thank god the team behind the xylofraud was able to come together to make this
I always use this rule of thumb when talking about famous historical figures: "If they were any good at what they did, they'd still be alive today." Case in point, every member of the xylofraud team is (as far as I know) still alive. That is true talent.
Was watching this and thinking “oh this feels like the video my sister made for that one project she did for some mechanical engineering class” and then it cuts to you on campus at mines lmao. Good shit orediggers
This video has deeply changed the trajectory of my life forever. I wrote a poem just so that the weary travelers who find this video in the future may share in the joy I feel at this moment. A silent screen, a fleeting glance, A world unknown, a mystic trance. A wooden frame, a hollow core, A rhythmic beat, forevermore. A gentle tap, a sudden spark, Igniting passion, dark to dark. A primal urge, a soulful cry, A rhythm born, soaring high. A life transformed, a spirit free, A newfound voice, eternally. A beat of hope, a drum of dreams, A symphony of love, it seems. Exuberate. Xylo. Fraud.
why did i read the final three lines like the "Geek. Stink. Breath." from the end of Geek Stink Breath by Green Day i heard the guitar riff in my head and everythign
It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that he was playing Silent Night, especially considering that I was literally singing it in choir only a few hours ago... Of course, part of it was just that some of the notes didn't quite play correctly, but still. Also, "stinky."
Loved the sound when you picked up the tube array module 😊. The mechanical action does have a vibe of an old time cash register lol, but a lovely, well thought out project, as is the video!
I bet you've already made revisions, for clarity of tone. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the making of the Xylofraud. Subscribed and liked. All The BEST, to ALL of you there!!! Merry Christmas!!!
You guys are little scoundrels! Glad to see the youth are still capable of a little fun, with a healthy dose of creativity!! I loved the silly little monkey costume in the beginning. So cute!!
Nicely done ! It reminds me to the " Dactilofono o Maquina de tocar " - " Dactilophone or Playing machine " built in 1968 from a typewritter machine and aluminum tubes made by Gerardo Massana from the argentinian musical comedy group " Les Luthiers " they've made a lot of " informal instruments " as they called them I recomend " El polen ya se esparce por el aire " in which song the Dactilofono plays a lead role or " Loas al cuarto de baño " where all the instruments are based on bathroom equipments
Actually I’m surprised this wasn’t already done… I’ve thought about this instrument many times, specifically what the xylofraud is, a piano with tubes instead of strings. Nice that you guys were the first to make it :)
Lloyd Loar (music instrument inventor/pioneer) made a piano using chines that would never need tuning about 100 years ago. It was lost but found about 30 years ago and is still in tune. By the way the man also has various patents including the first electric piano and electric guitar going back about 90 years ago.
Felt dampers under the connection points of keys and actions. Isolate the hammers in an enclosure so the sound is not hampered by the mechanical noise. Good work.
This is like a xylophone mended with a piano. It's kinda cool, but firstly, mass production will be a real loss of aluminium, so wouldn't be possible. Secondly, high and low notes will sound terrible. Thirdly, you have to invent the reverb pedal in inverse. And finally fourthly, don't try to invent new instruments when there are enough of them.

i wonder why it would have sounded bad 🧏♂👂
This is exactly what I would expect from a bunch of Colorado School of Mines students
Was watching this and thinking “oh this feels like the video my sister made for that one project she did for some mechanical engineering class” and then it cuts to you on campus at mines lmao. Good shit orediggers
2:13 "cardboard" made me laugh so hard. This video is hilariously well done, great job guys.
Also, stinky.
basically just a reinvention of the celesta.
Oh I love that game!
Xylofraud now!
Celesta has bells, Xylofraud has tubes.
I love the name xylofraud though, so I'm pretending that tubular bells are not bells and therefore it's not a celesta
I just got jumpscared by oogashaka😭😭😭
Same I turned my phone's sound up cos there was nothing and I got jump scared so loud

This is in fact peak youtube. These guys joined TH-cam, dropped this banger 1 day after, and everyone who sees it loves it.
It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that he was playing Silent Night, especially considering that I was literally singing it in choir only a few hours ago... Of course, part of it was just that some of the notes didn't quite play correctly, but still. Also, "stinky."
It's like a celesta, but much much worse.
Shoulda called it a typewronger.
Cool project.
0:49 that’s amazing it can do this
4:56 "yegch"
And of course, stinky

Luke, you dingus!!

5:35 👁👄👁lookin ahh
7:11 i did NOT expect the next few pictures lmao
i LOOOVE stuff like this!!! brilliant.
instrument sounds incredible as well! Lots of possibilities
Yes youtube give me more of this. Oh also if you want to dampen then wooden clanking sounds you could try adding pads between where wood strikes wood.
I really need the full length video
Also, stinky
(Mobile web doesn’t allow me to edit comments but I forgot to add that)
This video's got student film type energy lol its so funny. you guys are great! keep it up!
I know the point of it is to be a more portable instrument, but I feel like a full 88 key xylofraud would be really cool
Really liked the bit where the one guy kept getting further away during the assembly
7:31 Would be great for parts in movies for kind of an angelic feel, very "It's a Wonderful Life" kind of presence.
I liked the part where Luke the dingus played the hit xylofraud Christmas song, Inaudible Evening
this is what i needed, thank you so much
you made someone's day slightly better :)

Just looking at the thumbnail, I could immediately tell this would be just like old TH-cam.
I do not know why youtube recommended me this, but I was not disappointed. Cool stuff!
(Also "stinky")

I'm loving the creator energy here 😇💙
Neat instrument :3
Shouldn't all TH-cam be like this?
Yes

It was supposed to be, and maybe it still can be
It used to be 😊 let's bring it back
Yes
Oh wow this was a super enjoyable video to watch! Amazing work!
Xylofraud is a great name, but Xylofaux is right there 😭

Stinky 🗣️🔥🔥🔥
When he said “we”
I felt that
This comment makes more sense than I intended it to
I feel like I’m saying something wholesome now
…
Which is fine
This has mad school project vibes
Sounds like it's part glockenspiel and part mechanical cash register.
I love the video. It fills me with glee.
Congratulations, you made a keyboard-controlled wind chime!
Felt dampers under the connection points of keys and actions. Isolate the hammers in an enclosure so the sound is not hampered by the mechanical noise. Good work.
this is peak content. I can't wait for the next instrument to drop🔥🔥🔥
guys you invented a celesta 😭
I’m so happy this was on my home page
This is why instruments are so damn expensive lol
I want my own xylofraud now but my wallet is to empty and my craftmanship is too "stinky"
Sounds like school project tbh...
looks awesome! Great video
8:14 There for a moment I was afraid he would not be able to resolve to the root, and I was actually a bit on edge. Stinky.
It's like a music box did the nasty with a typewriter
Your production style is super fun
I like this, it sounds like a playable music box!
Stinky
(Great video)
I’m still surprised why this channel isn’t bigger
Man this is sick! It's always been my dream to build something like this myself
Beautiful, what a work of art!
Neat, this project was not STINKY at all!
Lol I love this, Pretty Stinky if you ask me

When is the contrabass xylofraud releasing? Im sure that it could play some "stinky" tracks
So much music in the video wasnt played by the xylofraud
Xylofraud will end "the war."
Stinky Cartoon rising stink marks, may I add. Spongebob Foghorn effect, if I may.
dude reinvented the toy pianos from kindergarten

Thanks Frod! Very Cool!

Please make more videos like this😂
Also, stinky
Where is Martin from Wintergatan?
you gotta get some accoustic foam bro
This is like a xylophone mended with a piano.

5:35 Epic transition.
excellent
sarah as sarah killed me xd
Donkey Knog
"Xylo" means "wood," so this really should have been called the Metallofraud. Still, very innovative, despite the misnomer.
awesome video
I was here, stinky
Banger video, the random ass faces and clips add to it greatly
also stinky
Good work team. Stay stinky.
liked the video just for the sound at 3:05
Piano but it’s not a string instrument basically.
also, stinky
This is so cool! And it's kinda sorta close to my username!
Also, stinky
