You just feel sorry for what the guy has become from his start as a promising innocent kid and how people like the 3rd and Tsunade once trusted him. His betrayal back then truly hurt. Just remember the 3rd's last moment seeing that little kid he saw so much love and potential in right before he passes away. The other sad part is figuring out if there is any saving Orochimaru. Doesn't seem like there is but there are moments when he shows his humanity like when Tsunade's brother and boyfriend died and it appeared as if Orochimaru truly felt her pain and cried with here back then.
When we finally understand all the characters on Naruto... we can be only sad for Kimimaro... In his whole life, EVERYONE wanted to use it as if it was a tool... (his clan, Orochimaru, Kabuto...) While he wasn't so cruel, in the contrary... he kept a little kindness inside him... I think that's why him and Haku met at a moment... these 2 were similar...

To think that a person that heartless and tough to start crying because of some kid and his words is really tear jerking, at least for me.
