Huh? He’s an African who immigrated to America and was probably treated like a second-class citizen until he started winning medals. What hypocrisy to spout off about this being ‘the American dream.’ What’s that, exactly? What country wants to have its athletes blown up at a sporting event? You could call it ‘the German dream’ re Munich in ‘72. This was Meb’s triumph and good for him! One of the most likeable guys in the sport no matter where you’re from.

Pure inspiration. What running form. What a great person. At almost age 39. Skill, hard work, and dedication.

I cant wait to meet this guy some day. I read in his autobiography that he ate dirt because he didn't have food. That has stayed with me for years.
Meb is truly a class act.

Just like Bernard Lagat, born in Kenya, to Kenyan parents.........yet moves here and becomes an American Citizen. I LOVE Bernard. Class act in every sense of the word (as is Meb). But if he were to run the Boston Marathon and win it next month, all the announcers would yell "Another AMERICAN wins Boston!!" . Please stop with that Bullshit. Meb's a US citizen. So is Bernard. But their talent doesn't come from America. Anyone who can't see that knows nothing about distance running. The East Africans are so incredibly dominant in the marathon and half-marathon it's a joke.

He started running as a high schooler in America. His career started at the same time as any other American runner

+Michael Whaley He ran a 5:10 early in high school which is common for freshman.

+Michael Whaley Thanks for the fiction. Now back to reality: Lagat graduated from the Kaptel High School in 1994 in Kenya which is where he started running. He moved to the US in 1996, when he was 22 years old. You think he didn't do any serious running until he was 22? Gimme a break. Lagat is a Kenyan with American citizenship. He's an awesome guy and a great talent. But him breaking "American" records is a joke.

Great moment. Only slightly ruined by that one female reporter who acted like SHE won the marathon herself...

We all love Meb. But PLEASE. He was born in Eritrea to Eritrean parents. He won Boston b/c he's got AFRICAN talent. Show me an American born runner to win Boston..

+Jamie Vidd its not genetics u dumb fucks. They are more energy efficient due to the fact that the are forced to run barefoot when they're young, which gives them a techniqal adventage.

Really Joel B Dumbfuck? Except Meb never ran at all before he came to states. Not barefoot in Eritrea either. Read his biography, dumbfuck.
