Older jeep grand Cherokee are beasts when it comes to durability and work.
I had a '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had almost 300k miles on it, when I broke my back and neck, was paralyzed for a while I sold it to a friend.
It ran great because I kept the maintenance up, still runs great, my friend allows his son to drive it

We were transferred from WI to AL near Auburn and later to the Greenville SC area for a few years (rather than to lose a very good job). I get a little teary eyed going on road trips in the south. It's like my 2nd home now. Now we are back with family freezing away in NW WI. Call us crazy. But family means much.

You've saved your wallets a lot of money on the Tposts. And since you were already making the trip, that makes saving on the garden soil too.
Time , plus gas, determines if you really saved money. But I'm like you, I move everything I can when I move.

with what you were doing unloading the truck. Here's a suggestion with multiple parts that might help you with similar sorts of tasks in the future (unloading heavy objects especially those that you want to preserver like that dire). I grew up with many uncles in the construction industry. And while they tried to teach me various trades (most of what stuck was electrical as I work in IT now), I was a gofor for many of them or an aide in demolition. Now the other thing that you need to know is that two of my uncles bought a dilapidated rich dudes land to turn into their I guess it would have been a homestead but we didn't call it such back then. On this land was a wrecked artificial big pond/small lake that the rich dude had made into an artificial beach. My uncles broke it open to make it not a pond but then they realized that they had a resource that almost all the family could use...like hundreds of tons of sand. For free, so no more paying premium or all all when doing concrete work for sand. I would often be sent with a realtive or worked to load up a bunch of containers with sand and drop them at various sites. So being like 10, even though I was as strong as most 20 years olds by then, I was also really smart and lazy. So at first I would make a bridge/ramp from 2 by 10s or 2 by 12s to just slide the garbage barrels full of sand off the pickup trucks....then I found gold when I discovered Uncle Gs barn or whartever full of scaffolding equipment. I started using those I think they are the platforms you put between the ends of the scaffolding to stand on? as ramps.
The long and short of this is that you might want to keep a look our for either a retiring contractor looking to sell off his scaffolding or something you can find it in salvage yards or on ebay cheap. I even saw a video for a homesteading channel where he would tear down people old barns for free if he could keep the salvagage material (he was after the inner beams which were often in decent shapes, huge old pieces of things like oak) but on one he found what seemed to be the gear for some sort of roofing or siding contractor. He found enough scaffolding, ladders and other stuff that if he had to purchase it new it would have cost over 100,000 dollars. Suffice it to say he sold some but now had lots of scaffolding to use on his homestead when he needed it.
Not saying that you will luck out that way but you and your wife remind me a lot of my family back then. Always using your hard work and craftiness to save money and turn waste into resources, working together etc. I think sharing some of the things my family did might possibly give you guys some tips.
    Keep up the good work

Oh yes, that one is beautiful!! The other one -- the white one -- is said to be 100% haunted. It's been on the market for sale for 20 years. It will get sold, then be back up for sale very soon. In the 10 years we've been traveling back and forth to visit family in TN we've NEVER seen anyone living in there. As the story goes, there was a bad massacre in there way back and a robbery of some big valuables. I'm not one to get into ghost stories, but it's hard to know why no one has ever lived there...

Growing up on the border of Virginia and North Carolina, we always called the mountains in Va the Blue Ridge Mountains and the mountains in Carolina the Smoky Mountains.
That's not far off. The entire range is the Appalachian Mountains. The Blue Ridge Mountains run from southern Pa to northern Ga and the Smokys run between the Carolinas and Tennessee.
So, like you said, you can call the ones by you any of the three and you would be correct.
Bonus Comment: Looking at how many cars I saw on that back roads route, I would choose that one probably most of the time.

I'm in the UK, and I totally agree with your decision to move as much as possible.
So far I've noticed an increase of around 10% on certain items I purchased for my garden last October/November. I know that because I just purchased the same fruit trees and seeds for a relatives birthday. Given the state of the world, I can only see things getting worse price-wise. Heck, good soil could be worth its weight in gold before long! A couple of years ago I had some good quality soil trucked in for a rockery bed in my garden, but I'm thinking of reusing it for some raised vegetable beds instead.
Good luck with the rest of the move.

I'm so glad that you have moved to Tennessee! I live in Chattanooga and am looking for five acres (or hopefully more) close by. Welcome to our state!

Thank you! We're looking forward to being in better state very soon! Taxes, laws, freedoms, layout, people, and on and on and on. :)
