    Does clear PETG turn white when over heated?

    • @TeamMayku
      @TeamMayku  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it can do. If you're vacuum forming it's best not to overheat your sheets as it can cause problems with the finish and accuracy of your shape. You can start forming as soon as you see the sheet start to bend.

      Hi Javier, all the sheets are recyclable with your normal recycling when you have finished with them, although you can get many uses out of one sheet. The sheets are also made of a percentage of recycled plastics. We are developing full compostable options as we work towards a sustainable future.

    • @TeamMayku
      @TeamMayku  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We're working on creating more eco-friendly sheets, but makers are more than welcome to source their own if they can, we just can't guarantee you'll get perfect results on materials we've not tested. Our sheets are recyclable and reusable, so you could get hundreds of uses out of each mold before it's no longer working optimally. 😊

    If i need to make a mold of a tall template .. what is the max height of the template that can be used

    • @TeamMayku
      @TeamMayku  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We recommend not making something taller than it is wide, although you can experiment with two part molds to achieve different shapes and sizes. We have some articles on our site that explain more: www.mayku.me/blogs/news/how-to-design-for-vacuum-forming-and-mold-making-with-agustin-arroyo

    • @Seemsayin
      @Seemsayin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might have to build that template in sections. I think what might happen is that, the longer the stretch, the more susceptible the heated material will be to breaking at, or near the top of the design, since most of the pressure will be at that point. Sort of like trying to stretch a balloon over a sharp, narrow object. So yeah... there's a good reason for that rule of thumb.

    So, you want $820 for something that can be constructed from materials that would barely cost 10$ overall? Just some wood box for decoration, a couple of screws and a couple of sheets of plywood Drill holes in it, glue it together, and you are done. That's all you'll need. All that _can_ be costly in this is just the heating element. And you don't need it, since your oven can heat to greater temperatures that's necessary for any formable plastic.
