That was the craziest scariest thing I’ve ever seen. You’ve got guts girl! Do not worry about the fatalities. It seems to me that there are plenty and having been relocated they will multiply very quickly. You did very very well. What a crazy situation.
That must have bee n (sorry - couldn't resist!) quite the hair raising experience. Glad that you've managed the situation well and hopefully that'll be the last of having additional passengers aboard. Really enjoying your videos and watching you go explore the world as well as yourself on many levels and empathize as you're going through many states of feeling and emotions. Learning a lot about the cruising by sail experience (Thank You for sharing) and am amazed and deeply impressed of your resilience and determination. You rock.
This , is something I never thought I would have to deal with....as a prospective liveaboat boat lifer..... Super glad to see others go through it to learn all I can. Blessings!
You did the best you could! And with a spatula, rolled up newspaper and duct tape. Bravo! Been keeping bees since 2009, and have seen crazier. Your only other option was to cut the boat open from the inside. As best you can, try to get all the dead, wax and honey out so it doesn't melt into the wood; otherwise, mold, mildew and other insects will find it.
I appreciate you trying to do your best however you were given some really bad advise! In the removal from your boat! Thank you for trying! You were correct in the queen is the key but I am happy you did not burn down your boat! And given the advice you received you did quite well with limited PPE and really no tools! Let me know if you would like some honey as if you watched any of my channel I likely could spare what ever you would like in the form of honey 😁
My job is working with wildlife and you can only do so much because they have minds of their own and don't do what you expect or want. You gave it your best try so don't worry about it. 😊
I just stumbled across your channel. Bees are cool! You are to be commended for removing them and keeping the honeycomb intact to set up in another hive! BCC boat is an awesome boat!
👍I guess by now the bees are Gone from your hull, but you probably have some Honey for all your Trouble !? You sure lead an Interesting life Nicole !...I wonder what will happen NEXT in your life !?...Something Good I Hope ! Keep up the good work CAPTAIN...and Love from me in Australia !⛵🦘🇦🇺🌹
Your next project should be making bug screens to keep out the insects and u no see uns midges. and plug up any holes in the boat. I have put up screens over the forward hatch and the companion entry to keep the bugs out .Well done.your knee is looking well too. I hope that's healing up as well. Gerard .
Thank you! The videos are a little delayed so actually my update coincides with a future video I think. I did get the thru-hulls in last week though (I’m still editing the video), so no more bugs haha
Probably a good idea to relocate them. I would imagine they would not be happy campers to be hundreds of miles at sea with no place to collect pollen. It would be the battle of 2 queens, the queen bee and you. I'd never seen a hive transfer before. Thanks for sharing. I would imagine they associate your scent with their home. I enjoyed the video, Nicole.
If the queen died while you were making bing them another will be born out of the eggs already laid in the comb you moved, don’t fret over it… bees are pretty resilient
You did nothing wrong. You did your best. There's a girl here in Texas that does that. The first thing is she always finds the queen. She's also got special "cages" for the queen. Once she has her, the rest follow. You did what you could.
Hahahahahahahahaa..breeeeath.... hahahahahahahaaa.. maybe next time, dont let BEEs make a colony where you live.. funniest vid I've watched in a while.. 😂😂
🤣 omg it was a wild experience. Definitely one I didn’t expect, but in hindsight, I shoulda known. Thanks for watching. I’m glad it was a funny video 😆
Sorry about the bee problem. I would like to retract my previous statements about anchors. It seems that my experience with a CQR was based on my use of a worn-out anchor. Tests of new CQRs place it on par with the Delta. Furthermore, newer anchor designs such as the Spade, Rocna, Vulcan, etc. test out as more reliable and having greater holding power. My apologies. Jeff
At this point I would get an exterminator if available. They will seal the boat and fumigate the inside to kill everything. Now that’s what they do for termites and roaches I’m not sure if they do that for bees. Also I am talking about Florida so again I’m not sure if it’s available where you are. Anyway good luck to you.
I assume you've, by now, solved this bee issue. An easy (and less nasty than vinegar) way to discourage them from taking up residence in the future is to place dryer sheets in your compartments. I just use my used sheets and rotate them out as I do laundry. Plus, I feel better since I'm getting a second use from them as opposed to use once and throw away.
"The needs of the many are greater than the needs of a few" ...Spock's last words in 'Star Trek Wrath of Khan' movie ! Its okay, you saved the majority of them and into their new home. If a few needed to be sacrificed in order to save many, then so be it. Now, how bout using a vacuum cleaner to get the rest ?
Where did you fnd that man? He sets fire to a pizza box and then lets you get on with it! You're not a bee person. He should have found the queen before doing anything. That was crazy and I hope you are ok.
You really did your best and saved a lot of bees. I couldn't have done it.
Appreciate this.
Brave heart … your courage is notice 😊
Thank you!
A possible new name for your boat the Sea Bee 🐝
HAHA!!! I love this
Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Thanks for sharing.
Yup, thanks for watching

Appreciate this! Thank you 😊
I give you credit for trying to do it right. I wouldn't have been that patient, PETA be damned. Fumigation time.
Haha! By the end of it, I definitely felt the same way.

Hi there, thank you for this beautiful comment. The encouragement is really helpful and inspiring. I laughed at the pun, too!
This , is something I never thought I would have to deal with....as a prospective liveaboat boat lifer.....

Yes! Definitely close up the holes! Bees be real. Thanks for watching

Okay, noted. I was really dreading cleaning up the carnage. thank you for the kind words and wisdom. It helps!

Bee the change you want to see in the world 🐝 🐝 😂🤘👍
Haha! love this
Great job
My job is working with wildlife and you can only do so much because they have minds of their own and don't do what you expect or want. You gave it your best try so don't worry about it. 😊
Thanks for the encouragement. That is soooo true. The bees definitely had a mine of their own. Hundreds of them 😂
That was fun. Im surprised a local bee keeper wouldn't come get them.
It is a little hard to communicate and organize things here sometimes. But yea, that would have been ideal!
I just stumbled across your channel. Bees are cool! You are to be commended for removing them and keeping the honeycomb intact to set up in another hive! BCC boat is an awesome boat!
Thank you!! 😊
... not easy for anyone, well done you :)
Appreciate this.
😂😂😂
Sounds like the bees need to make an offer on your boat.
Oh yea! At least pay a little bit of rent!
Fun episode, well done, you did your bit…..thanks, Andrew(Beaufort, NC)
Thanks, neat to know where you were at when writing this comment! I hope you made it further north safely.
You would think they would use cigars for the smoke, lol
Oh wow, how did I not think of this!??!

Hi! I unfortunately didn’t get any honey from the trouble. but maybe good karma will catch up with me. Hope you’re doing well!
@@SailingArtha 👍Thanks Nicole !….always good to get a reply from you !….At least I know you are OK !….Keep having Fun and Love from Australia ⛵️🏍🦘🇦🇺🌹

You’re such a great person
Thank you!

It woulda been so cool to keep them but yea, you are completely right. Thanks for watching.
Great job handling the bee situation!
Thank you!
If the queen died while you were making bing them another will be born out of the eggs already laid in the comb you moved, don’t fret over it… bees are pretty resilient
Ahh! This is sooooo good to know. This puts my heart at ease. Thank you for the information.

I’m so inspired by the bee people. They do great work. It woulda been cool to have somebody like that come rescue the bees for me.
Great job. Hopefully they didn't find my mast.
Hopefully not! That would be so bad!
Hahahahahahahahaa..breeeeath.... hahahahahahahaaa.. maybe next time, dont let BEEs make a colony where you live.. funniest vid I've watched in a while.. 😂😂

Hi Jeff! I actually don’t remember exactly the comment you are talking about, but I agree with the comment you left here. Thanks for your input.
At this point I would get an exterminator if available. They will seal the boat and fumigate the inside to kill everything. Now that’s what they do for termites and roaches I’m not sure if they do that for bees. Also I am talking about Florida so again I’m not sure if it’s available where you are.

Thanks for the advice. I did notice a cockroach the other day so I will be fumigating before I move back on board.
Ohhhh, that is such a good idea. I will do that. The compartments will even smell much better. Thanks for sharing this with me.
Shop vacuum?
I ended up vacuuming up the carnage, yea 😞
I suggest encourage them elsewhere with camphor oil or blocks if you are okay with the smell yourself
Oh interesting! If there is a next time (which there absolutely will not be 😆 then I will try this!
O' my
Yup haha
Vacuum cleaner. Seems cruel but unfortunately it has to be done sometimes 😢
Yep you are so right.
OMG
Yea haha!
You did nothing wrong the Bee keeper did, get a local person to help you, he will have a proper box for the Queen , so the others will follow
Thank you
Told you you should have stopped them the first day it was going to get worse!
Yea! Fortunately now I have my thru-hulls in so I can close those holes!
"The needs of the many are greater than the needs of a few" ...Spock's last words in 'Star Trek Wrath of Khan' movie ! Its okay, you saved the majority of them and into their new home. Yea, you’re right. I did use a vacuum cleaner to get the rest, mostly carnage though. Thanks for watching and commenting 😃
murderer just kidding ha ha
I know!!!! Haha
certains aspirateur sans sac permettent aussi en petite puissance d'aspirer les abeilles sans les blesser et sans les enfumer.
Yes, Or to suck the air out of a large container first, then attach 2nd hose to large container and suck them all in.
Okay, good to know. Thanks.
Okay, thanks
Shop Vac
Yeah unfortunately, thanks
