Had the honour of meeting Jon Hiseman at a Tempest gig. Lovely fella, spoke to me for a good half hour, lovely humble man. Greatest drummer ever in my view, used to see Colosseum at Mother’s Club in Birmingham too, unbelievable times.
Amazing to see Jon playing traditional grip and sounding so much like Elvin!. I knew he loved Elvin's playing, just didn't realise he had actually absorbed so much of it.
JH (RIP), one of my schoolboy icons. Fortunate to see him with Colosseum on many occasions. Does anybody know if he ever played with Georgie Fame at GF’s hometown venue, The Garrick, in Leigh, nr Bolton?
Hey guys - you should hear the following albums: Jack Bruce: Things we like, Pete 'Pepi' Lemer: Local Colour and the trio Surman/Bruce/Hiseman recordings on the Jack Bruce 3-cd-set - and you will hear JH in full (best) flight !!! So go on...
I had Things We Like. I loved it and will reacquire it. I will check out the others. Everything I ever heard from Hiseman I love. I recommend the lp he made with Wolfgang Dauner and Larry Coryell. Really interesting blend!
@pykkervots Of course Jon directly replaced Ginger in Graham Bond. I guess Ginger would have liked whoever replaced him to be inadequate. Well, he was wrong.
Bonzo one of the most overrated drummers ever. Baker could play though, before the smack got him. Jon was absolutely clean, at least in later life; vegetarian, didn't smoke, didn't drink much. Most of all, he worked his ass off - great drummer, great engineer and great promoter. I really miss him.
Jons Hi-Hat motions reminds me of butterfly arrows...His drumming looks elegant and effortless.. Plays with so much taste . What a drummer. R.I.P.

I saw Colosseum in 1970 at the Plumpton Festival.
Love hearing this, he has been a hero for me forever. R.I.P. Jon Hiseman.
RIP Jon. Such a great drummer in so many genres over 6 decades.
Absolutely right !!!
Blew Ginger & Bonzo Away.
@@Mynamesalexa Sicuramente Bonham era zero, Baker era bravo, ma Jon Hiseman era il migliore!
Young jon Hiseman--- phantastic! What a talent! And what a great performance!
One of my favorite drummers! Especially I love his Collosseum II days' playing. 0:28 Jon was very handsome too!
Great drummer; great guy. He is missed.
one of my absolute favourites, and very underrated
he was "too good" to be rated !
Astounding.
Wow - thank you for uploading this - brilliant!
ALWAYS A GREAT FAV OF MINE!! R.I.P JON!
Bravo, Jon! And you were a great man to boot.
R. I. P. Genius
Jon Hiseman is astonishing
What a change they underwent from the time of this video from 1967 to 1970 when I saw the Colosseum in Plumpton !!
Fantastic ! as it was played yesterday
Jon was my favorite drummer from late 60s England. I would have loved to see the proposed group with Fripp manifest.
Amazing to see Jon playing traditional grip and sounding so much like Elvin!. I knew he loved Elvin's playing, just didn't realise he had actually absorbed so much of it.
Lyn Dobson on flute and tenor -
great underrated musician ...
Who is the bassist on this date?
@@edwardtracey6143 Rick Brown
Perhaps not heard by as many people as some drummers but by the ones that have listened to him he was definitely not underrated.
@@martyn26.2Rick Brown credo abbia suonato anche con gli Steampacket, verso il '65/66.
The man at 22 just amazing playing. Good old Georgie Fame for encouraging Jon.
Thanks for posting. Interesting to see him with one bass drum.
And only a four-piece kit.
And playing traditional grip!
Blows Ginger & Bonzo away!
Wow super

I've had them for a long time
@@Mynamesalexa Well done my friend ! 👍
Il giovane Jon Hiseman lo si può apprezzare con Graham Bond, 1966. Esempio: Solid Bond.
Pepi Lemer and Pete Lemer are husband and wife, not the same person. Pepi is a singer, Pete plays piano.

very special thx.
horn riff reminds me of Nate Adderly's Work Song.
A Ludwig 400 snare
Under rated as fuck!!
The Georgie Fame Quartet in those days seemed a lot like The Graham Bond Organization, without the psychopaths!
Quel drummer!
Blows Ginger & Bonzo Away!

Different styles, not worth comparing

You can hear a lot of Elvin influence in this...
Jon Hiseman dies in London, UK.
🥁.. .🙄then they say that the drummer is just "the boy who accompanies the musicians"🥁
Ginger you‘re next
