I had a Slash 4x4 VXL as my first “good” RC. I got an Arrma Granite 4x4 BXL and it handles and drives so much better. I think it’s the wide tires and track width these have. They’re fun for sure.
Yea I feel like SCTs as a whole feel like boats. Gotta dial them in a ton for them to feel nice. Just got my 2wd slash down to a decent lap time recently

Great truck… after a few mods. Must do upgrades are arrma CVD driveshafts for the rear, metal spur gear and metal diff gears front and rear. Stock plastics will all blow eventually, just upgrade as you go and its a beast once the drivetrain is upgraded!
Pick up the M2c chassis braces, a lot nicer than anything else out there throw in the cvd upgraded axles once the stock universals break, and they will once you start running 4s on the big rock and it’s in destructible
This is the toughest rc I own box stock. I learned how to jump and flip with it. Ugly and long pocess...😅. After I broke the body, 2 years later, I did a refresh and added AVC and the 4S esc from my Lasernut. The stock motor has dealt with 4S with stock gearing with no problems yet. Stinkin fast on 4S. Looking forward to more vids on this one!
The big rock (except the original version that still had the shorter a-arms) is closer to the Typhon than the senton as far as parts go but really they are all close and just a few parts off from one another. Love the 3s line. Great video as usual!
I bought all the 550 mega lineups completely awesome lineup. Gorgon is ridiculously good and I just ordered my big rock 3S love the videos the information you provide all around great channel for the hobby. Thanks for the time and effort you put into it.
Man!!! Any Arrma 3s line is killer!!! You need to find a good used vendetta or the infraction 3s, gear them down a bit and there’s your touring cars for the pad! And of course the big rocks nice…..it’s an ARRMA

It’s hard because the maxx is more than twice the price or twice the price and still without the ummmf and handling of brcc but the maxx is much more truck still
Best cheap Basher on the planet. Mods: Granite Tyres and Bumper, Typhon 3s Wingmount with Outcast 4s Wing, Arrma Slipper Sleeve, Set Punch to 5. Other mods if you want the best: Arrma Boost Diff Kit for metall diffs, Typhon 6s shocks and so on.
@@spenn2007 Ah yes👍I had Typhon on my mind when I replied because the 3s Big Rock is similar. So I mistakenly read that as saying the 6s Typhon was 1/7 scale. Not sure how that happened.
@@truerc yep and the senton I think the arms are wider on black version v2 but still different from the typhon , I wanted to use the typhon parts to convert brcc to 17mm instead of using adapters but everyone does this so parts always sold out my brcc and granite have a lot usage sometimes not worth rebuilding till you can pick up one on clearance
GREAT REVIEW! I'm new to RC trucks (I fly RC planes) and I'm considering a few 3S trucks. I want to get the best bang for my buck but I don't mind spending a little more if the value is there. I've really been looking at the RIAARIO Omni Terminator but I also like ARRMA Granite, Rival MT10. What is your sugestion in the 3S truck class?
Yep so many people do this upgrade it drives the prices higher for typhon shocks than all others , and never is stock , I had to use the 4s shocks from v1
Vendetta has DX3 with AVC. And thats fine! Offroad Arrma 3s has Slt3 without avc, which is not bad. But of course a Noble nb4, gt5 and co is better. (Oh quit...yeah one dx3 left the game too soon. But when it works it works fine).
It's a great truck had one now for couple years I think still awesome for it's type and league, and i gota say I can't think of any failures other than a spectrum steering servo but it can take the beat, most hard landings/trees/mid air tree hits bad roots ditches...my wife saw me with it and she wanted one too so I ment kraton 6s and she runs big rock it's pretty babied now but still she's hits things and keeps going 💪
Cant wait to see what you do for upgrades, i have one thats slowly falling apart lol. Shafts keep coming un done, and wheels falling off. Soon to address the issues.
Issues I had with mine... Rear plastic axles popping at Universal... Motor mount bends easily, creates gap at spur and strips. Replace with arrma metal shafts and m2c motor plate.
I can't say I love mine. When it works it is fun but mine constantly has problems. The axles are weak, I believe the input gear is made out of soap (I have gone through 3 of them which tears up the diff gear), the ESC randomly quite on me, and the spur gear went not long ago (it got decent life but I was expecting more). Also, the tires are absolute garbage and suck above 40 mph which is inexcusable to me when the truck is capable of over 50 mph on 3s. I think they should have these common issues figured out by now (it is V3 and it has been out for a long time). That being said, I get it is a lot of fun when it works and some people seem to really love them.... I just get annoyed with the constant breakdowns. Sure there are parts that you can get to upgrade the truck but they are expensive and Arrma could do so much better with the truck in stock form for little extra cost.

Arrma 3s are problematic and i hope Arrma give them the same upgrades they gave the 4s v2.5 that way they might last without having to replacing the shocks, the drive train, the axles, the crappy ESC. This is for starters. Any serious basher knows without serious upgrades these fall apart.

Probably more like a Typhon 3s. I think the arms are the same. Unfortunately, there's plastic where there shouldn't be in the 3s line.

I did a diff tune and Arrma 6s shocks to mine and it’s just a great little ripper setup like that

Always thought of it as an extended wheelbase granite. Bought one for my son years ago... been though hell and still rips.
Thats what it is for sure, I've never had a Granite so All I have to go by is the Senton
I always used the brcc for parts for the granite , both underrated RCs , pick one up on sale and it’s free money .
I had Mojave 4s out slapped 6s in it with extra fan , arrma builds to please , others take alot mods to perform well
It has the same chassis as a Typhon. I think it also has the same arms. It just doesn't have a wing or 17mm hexes.

Switch out that spectrum radio and receiver immediately. My brand new vendetta gave me 1 run before it quit. Flysky gt5 baby all the way!

That's the only rc I wish i didn't buy lmao. The jello diffs drove me nuts it sits in a box and waits for maxx to come home for story time now.
All the Arrma 3s line are the same. I've had them all and none are currently running. The 4s v2.5 platform is so much better.
Oh ya i love my big rock. Just plan to get the metals diffs cause the plastic ones will die after a bit. But once you do that might as well run it 4s.
Oh once I do that it will get a whole new power system.
