    Clever use of material. Looks pretty smooth too. I prefer to use junk mail for mine, but can see myself mixing this for when I need a cleaner finish.

      Thanks.
      I like the time saved of shredding the paper. And that $10 package will last a very long time.

      @@HerooftheTable No kidding, that $10 saves a LOT of time :)

    A bag of paper pulp at a hobby store is $9 for a small bag. Two bucks more and you get enough to make all the terrain you'll ever need. Thank you for this.

      If you have limited storage space that could be a good way to get the supply you need without having to keep the extras around or throwing it away. Good tip.

    My first time seeing you. Thank you for this video I am glad that you made this with a massive shortage of Sculptamold on Amazon, Walmart, and other hobby stores in my neck of the woods I now know I can go hit up good old Home Depot. :)

    Love this idea, I had heard there was a use for this insulation. I have a bag of it myself just laying around! And I am making 4 dioramas for some Christmas Presents. This is great!! Thanks!! I Subbed!!

      @@HerooftheTable So far it has worked out great. I don't think i have the mix down 100% yet but that will come with trial and error.

    Unrelated but what is and where do you get that MDF board? I'm having a hell of a time finding it thinner then 1/2 inch.

    • @HerooftheTable
      @HerooftheTable  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I don’t have good news. I got a big stack of sheets of this MDF from my work when we were cleaning out some space. It was all going to get tossed in the trash but I grabbed a bunch for craft projects.

    I'm worried about the possibility of toxic additives into the blown-in insulation. Like fire retardant. Is it possible to use rabbit paper bedding from a pet supply store? or is that not fluffy enough?

    • @HerooftheTable
      @HerooftheTable  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've not tried to use rabbit paper bedding. If it is just shredded paper, I'd think it would work.

    Can you use joint compound inside of plaster?

    • @HerooftheTable
      @HerooftheTable  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I have not tried it myself, but I suppose you could. It would likely just take a bit longer to set than plaster.

    Roughly what proportions of plaster to insulation do you use?

    • @HerooftheTable
      @HerooftheTable  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      rstrahan It is kind of hard to measure. I’d say that when the insulation is broken up and nice and fluffy, I put about 1/4 to 1/3 cup of plaster to 1 cup of insulation.
      I’d suggest playing around with it a bit so see what works for you.
