I love this new but cheaper format! The price breakdown is phenomenal please keep doing it
Yesss same!! I don’t plan on ever putting this much effort into my food but I like to watch other people do so 😭

The two price breakdowns were great. I always hated pricing portions of videos like this because they don’t break both down. Great job. Inspiring. I love you.

He did correct himself when serving the chicken thighs , though. At least concerning the chicken
Does the whole diet thing mean you are going to do a "but healthier" series? That would be dope af!!!
Yes!!
Oh yeah I'm here for that
You might not wanna take his advice on any health tips after watching this
@@kurtisbrowne8194 I know he's not a dietitian... but healthy meal alternatives are nice. And I enjoy his recipes. But I appreciate your input.
@@kurtisbrowne8194 why?
This is very well done. The focus on price and macros makes this one of my favorite series so far
I really love this video
The pace, the rythm, the humor, it's nice mix between the original videos (calmer, more focused on the food) and the new way (faster, more humor, a lot of camera moves)
Love the equilibrium found here
Also, the timing and recipe breakdown in "price breakdown". LOVE IT
I like the addition of the Nutritional info. I count my cals... and this is a much more friendly a process to follow without me constantly pausing and dissecting the recipe items trying to figure out what this is going to cost me carb, fat or Sodium wise... Keep up the great work!
Same!! It’s really insightful
Be aware, though, that there are some major errors. That bowl is definately not below 500 calories, probably closer to 800-1000.
@@Lycian17 Thats what i was thinkings, aint no way that this portion of a rice is only 105 kcal...
@@dominikvystyd560 He's mentioned in previous videos that when he plates food up, he usually overfills it because it looks better for filming
@@levibarksdale2730 chicken thighs are not 53 calories per thigh lmao
Please keep doing more of these healthy diet meals. I've been looking everywhere for good meals that are also macro friendly, but I can't find anything near as good as this online. Keep doing what you do, you're easily the best cooking channel on TH-cam.
Very well made video Josh and team. I liked the price breakdown part not because it's helpful. But because you listen to your audience and don't work like a corporate company on TH-cam unlike many.
That's the first time I've seen that honest price breakdown for buying all the ingredients! It's great! This is usually a thing that keeps me from trying new recipes, because it's much more pricey than advertised. This way I can prepare! Keep it up please! 😍
I’ve always found the burrito bowl to be superior to the burrito. It’s the trifecta: flavorful, versatile and (potentially) healthy.
All three of those apply to burritos as well not just bowls
Its not just that. A typical burrito bowl at least with places near me has 2-2 1/2 times the amount of food as your standard burrito for less cost. I think 3-4 dollars cheaper, and that's if you get it at a fast food location.
@@nicstoohigh eh when the tortilla is about 300 plus calories depending on the size and damn near 80-100 grams of carbs, the bowl is definitely the potentially healthier option, at least if you are watching what you’re eating.
Its the same shit but diff format tho
I'm just commenting here, so it most of you can hopefully see it. Swap the mayo with low fat yoghurt. (obvsly, keep all the seasonings) Saves calories, adds protein, adds volume. You are welcome. 😘
I LOVE the price breakdown. I’m a chef in Australia, so I often have a lot of the ingredients and the prices don’t really convert, but I’ve always thought for people who aren’t avid cooks, that a full price breakdown would be beneficial. This, plus the macro counting is gonna win you a bunch more subscribers for sure.
Love your work ❤
Divide prices quoted by .65 to get AUD prices.
I really like the breakdown of your prices of having some items vs not having any of the items and of the price per how many servings. I see y'all put a lot of work into it, but it really helps me prepare for what it would realistically cost me to do everything. Thanks for the great videos!
Joshua healthy arc is his best arc yet 😅💪🏾, definitely gonna use this in meal prep
I’m glad he finally adds the total costs to the recipes at the end ❤
Incredibly helpful honestly, great addition
I personally really love this. One thing that discourages me from joking any sort of program or ‘diet’ is I feel like I lose my joy of cooking and I end up not paying attention anymore. Not that I cook everything in oil but you know what I mean. The joy of it!
Please never stop this series.
I really like and respect how, even though I'm fairly sure Josh does not by any means struggle with money, he still puts a lot of thoughtfulness and care into this series and isn't just about the most extravagant, luxurious ingredients like he could be. His other series also showcase that dynamic, which is good for entertainment but less practical, obviously. Keep up the awesome work man. Love to see the passion for cooking!
Loooove a healthier focused series! So much cooking content focused on low calorie or whole foods with good macros sacrifices any enjoyment of the cooking or is extremely bland. Keep it up, I’m starting an intensive cut that ends in the summer as well and it’ll be helpful to compile recipes or ideas to keep my food flavorful and exciting without worrying excessively about the calories (also without worrying about the bank account lol).
I made this! It’s so so good! I don’t have a gas stove, so I just roasted the corn cobs and jalapeños in my oven, and the corn relish was still delicious. Thank you so much for this video!
This might be the un-official first video of "But Healthier". Still, glad you made this, I was kind of suffering for the past 4 months with alternating two meals every other week. Now I have THREE Meals to choose from lol
Don’t respond to that person^^^ that is not our papa 😾
I have been watching and following your videos for some years. I wanted to send a respectful thank you for making these fun videos and upgrading my cooking game for the past years. A genuine thank you for waking up every day and giving us your best!☺️
The multiple price breakdowns are incredible, i really appreciate the extra effort put into it. Would it also be possible to show a regular serving size? It gives a better idea of things, I know the big plates and stacked food looks good for the camera, and thats great too, but the additional example of the proper serving is just a nice extra touch.
For the spicy mayo substitute plain greek yogurt and the macros per serving are protein-4, carbs-3, fat-0, calories-28
I cooked this last night and it was fantastic! I had to adjust the spice because a family member had colon cancer and spicy stuff basically makes them instantly shit themselves now, but the individual components were delicious. I love the idea of "grilling" the corn cobs on stove top.
Anyone else wanting a non-spicy version:
Marinate the chicken in half a can of tomato paste, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and lime juice instead of adobe. I just eyeballed the spices, but probably a tsp of each + a whole lime.
Omit the serrano from the corn relish and it's still delicious on it's own.
Burrito bowls have been THE staple of my diet so far. Love the versatility of turning it into a salad or a wrap if I wanted to, and also PICKLED ONIONS! they have changed the game for me. even the healthiest thing tastes decadent if there are pickled onions involved looool
It’s always a good feeling when Josh makes Mexican food with ingredients I have in my fridge
The price break down really does solidify this series as one of the best on TH-cam. It is really nice to see everything broken down at the end.
Honestly rating this health/gourmet series SOOOOOOO highly!! Thank you! :)
Don't you dare try to pretend that you only put 105 calories of rice in that bowl.
Yeah it’s at least 300 calories 😂
@@itohhanno, as someone who’s been tracking my macros for years, it looks like 120-150 calories, much closer to his estimate
@@Veran42yeah, he boiled 3 cups of white rice and served half of that. A cup of uncooked white rice is 200 calories so it’s definitely more than 150 calories in that plate.
Finally the good questions !!! 400 calories on rice only for sure !!
This video's greatest achievement is the ability to make teaspoons and tablespoons of product cost the same (cilantro - 2.5tsp and 2.5tbsp are both $0.13) - otherwise some inaccuracies as noted in calories and whatnot but overall much improved format and a great quality production as always from JW and crew - thanks!
Awesome breakdown at the end for the pricepoint comparing to buying it all from scratch. Keep it up!
I made this last night. It was really delicious and not hard to do. It was cheaper than Chipotle but better!
Honestly at home I tend to skip the rice, Just a bunch of good meat and veggies. That’s helped me out a lot lately
I love the new format and the new gymrat papa :D And as a gymrat myself I really enjoy watching these healthy recipes you have put out! Keep up the fantastic work brother!
I love that you put the nutritional facts in these videos too. I usually don’t make the recipes but I kinda want to try this one 😅
Price breakdown is phenomenal! If anyone on your team has the time I think more people than just me would appreciate the full price breakdown added to the descriptions of other but cheaper's! ❤
I would love to see a series of "But Simplier" where you make cheap, easy, simple meals with minimal ingredients that still taste great.
When he sang “Charred Corn Relish”, I felt that in my heart!!
For the sauce, you could use non fat Greek yogurt instead of Mayo. I add garlic, cilantro, and chipotles in adobo sauce (peppers and sauce) and blend until smooth.
I really like that idea! Thanks for thinking of it.. 🙂 I'll do this instead of mayo and with my cauliflower rice sub for white rice that should be excellent.
PRICE SLIDES ARE A GAME CHANGER!!! Keep them please, Papa
The macros and price breakdown in this video were fantastic Josh, keep it up! My only suggestion would be to maybe show the macros of the individual parts alongside the total. That way, we can easily see what the recipe comes to if we didn't use the mayo for example, or swapped the thighs for breast.
When i move out i will most definitely come back to this one.
I made this burrito bowl!!! It was incredibly delicious!!!
i love the new price breakdown. it used to make me so mad on older but cheapers but i love how you include the "bought everything" price now.
Josh, I have to say as a type 1 diabetic who records every single thing I eat for macros - yours are always incredibly off. I recorded everything off your recipe card and with all the "optional" items removed, your macros are 610cal/7f/108c/34p. But as pictured, your bowl is 1113cal/58f/112c/40p. Chicken thighs do not have 53 calories each, they're closer to 150-200. You have 12 servings of rice at "3 cups" which is 2 cups cooked per serving but your 105 cal of rice is only 0.67 cooked. You need someone to double check these numbers before they're posted.
As soon as I saw the 53/cal per thigh my bullshit alarm went off lol
@@danejackiss Same here. Just eyeballing you know that the whole bowl can't be only 488 calories.
I was thinking 'how tf he gettin that whole giant bowl of rice for under 500 calories??' Didn't realize the math was sketchy elsewhere too! Thanks for pointing it out.
I don't know how a professional chef can be so wrong when it comes to these calorie figures. Common sense should be enough to tell you that a single chicken thigh would NOT be just 53 calories.
Maybe its 53 calories more than chicken breast? That would make sense.
Honestly can't wait for Joshs transformation
Love that so many youtubers have focused more on their physical (and hence also mental) health.
The Streamer that Knut helps with for eksempel is another great example
For me to stick to my macros I like to replace Mayo with non fat Greek yogurt, it gives a similar consistency, but the only caveat is that it’s a bit more tangy 4:22
this is just a great bowl! I made them today for my weekly lunch. before this I've never been able to cook chicken perfectly. all the components in that bowl taste amazing! would love to see more such ideas; very student friendly!
Looks delicious, trying to eat healthier, will try this when I have more time 😋
Check out Brian Lagerstrom too..he’s got great recipes..
Josh finally presenting the price breakdown in a format that approaches something informative and useful.
I mean its still utterly useless if you live anywhere in the world that isnt where Josh lives, but its a hell of a lot better than what he was doing before.
I literally can’t watch one of your videos without wanting to go cook something 😂🙏🏽
I like your videos bc they offer a variety of info such a cost, calorie ect. , the depth of knowledge you obviously possess by the quality of the food you produce, and your videos are funny and that makes it very entertaining. Great job! I especially like that you keep the language clean. I personally hate listening to someone cuss their way through a video.
Josh those chicken thighs are not 53 calories each. Might have forgot a 1 at the start
They were BIG thighs, 253 would be closer tbh. His rice calories are way too low as well for the portion size.
I love the macro friendly meals that still have a focus on good food. Please do more of them for those of us who don't want to sacrifice taste for health!
*Don't dream of it, rather work for it!.*
@James Harrison I heard a lot about Mr Morris Delgado and how good he is, please how safe are the profits?
Love the healthy versions it’s always a hustle to manage macros and bill make more like these videos please 😍!!!
“Vegatable” oil 😂😂😂😂
Alternative for the rice, I do mine in a pan, I use 1 cup of rice to 1.5 cups of water if I rince my rice, 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water if i don't (though I recommend rinsing
I use chicken stock instead of water (in the UK we use stock cubes so I use how ever many stock cubes are equivalent to the water im using)
I rinse the rice and add it into a sauce pan, I add in 1-2 grated cloves of garlic add the chicken stock then simmer, usually until there's no liquid left which I test by holding the lib on the pan and tipping to see if it slides about, when it's done I turn the heat off, I fluff it gently then leave the lid on till I'm ready to serve, usually I think it's got a nicer texture when you let it sit anyways. Then I add in a couple dashes of lime juice (bottled the horror!) And as much corriander as I have in my fridge :) tastes super good and the only special thing I need in is the corriander, the stock adds alot imo
5:35 that’s kinda riceist
The overall breakdown is always key. I recommend finding some sort of cheap recipe to go for buying pantry items first and spending like $20 of your grocery budget to ingredients to help your budget better and help you get a kickstart
53 cals per chicken thigh? In my dreams
Seriously, idk where he’s getting that from
I got a rice cooker 3 or 4 years ago. They are great! Not a necessity, but makes cooking soo much easier. Frees up a pot, clears a burner on stove, and removes the worry of ruining the rice.
P.S. Always rinse your rice.
I frikken love the new format. The breakdown at the end is great!
Thank you for adding the all in price of all materials, many videos don’t take into account this and it’s nice to see that final price.
Josh is the GOAT of youtube chefs. Thank you for all the delicious recipes and entertaining videos!
Been watching and cooking for a while. The new price breakdown is sooooooo nice. I love the total without anything on hand. Thank you so much
loved this format of the video!
10/10 video josh. That price breakdown at the end literally made your video style perfect!
Gotta come back and say thanks for this recipe. I have been consistently making this for my family all summer and it is just AMAZING. We know how to make this dish by heart now.
I loved this video!! I know it's not your main series but you understand flavour and can teach us how to have tasty recipes with more macrofriendly stuff. All about technique similar replacements
I gave it a shot and holy crap tasted just as, if not better, then if I got take out. Thanks for the vids man, cooking has become tastier (and easier!)
I really like the way you did the two price breakdowns and showed them with nice, easy-to-read visuals.
Absolutely loving this new format!!!
I never comment on videos but just had to say, I made this tonight for my in-laws and everyone went nuts. Stay golden pony boy ❤
The price breakdown segment is something I’ve been wanting for a long time ❤️❤️❤️
My husband loves burritos, but he keeps saying he wants to lose weight. As soon as I saw this video I had to make it. I’m not usually a fan of burrito bowls (probably cuz I’ve only ever had chipotle’s version) but this, my God, it is so good. SO much better than ‘diet food’. I usually hate raw onions, but the flavors were so well balanced I didn’t even mind them! The rice is light and citrusy, it feels like eating a savory salad with a bit of crunch. It literally makes you wanna go back for seconds. I even subbed out stuff and it still turned out awesome. I used bbq sauce instead of adobo. I used lemon juice instead of lime. I switched out white rice for brown basmati rice, a yellow onion, dried black beans, and beyond burger instead of chicken to make it vegetarian. I didn’t even miss the cheese! (And I love cheese to an unhealthy degree) the pickled onion is a game changer. 5 stars from both me and my husband. 10/10 would make again.
So like the seeds and veins of the jalapeno that you used for the corn relish you could totally add to your pickled onions for added spice
The ending price breakdown is so needed. Thanks for listening!
100% recommend you guys to make this it’s so good and tbh it’s not that hard loved it even my family were amazed !
The info cards near the end are exactly what I wanted from these videos. Good stuff, Josh
I really wish there wasn't the diet talk within this video. It was under the veil of "I'm getting shredded" but it was unnecessary and silly. I love Josh's videos and they are so inspiring to cook and make delicious food that goes beyond! I love the art and knowledge and passion behind the videos, I personally feel that the commentary within the video was fustrating. Much love
Love the other comments suggesting a but healthier series. I encourage a solution that doesnt focus around diet heavy language.
What's wrong with mentioning the nutritional value behind the food?
I've made this like 5 times so far. It's great. Love how dang easy and delicious those pickled onions are.
i made this last night.... it was GLORIOUS and yes, the charred corn relish is the entire show
I really like these healthy meals. Everything I’ve tried so far is delicious. Thank you 🙏
@hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
this is so clutch dude. i’m a broke college student trying to get peeled for a trip to vegas here soon lmao. thank you man
Really loving the two sets of price breakdowns and the calorie breakdowns as well. One of the most helpful videos you've made! Thank you!
What are the odds I got ingredients today to prep my own chipotle fr the week, ate chipotle for dinner, and before going to bed seeing this. I recently started up fitness again and adjusting my diet with it. Exactly what I needed.
I very much appreciate the buying everything price, it felt super honest and nice
Your video editor is an absolute magician!
A healthy series!!! Yes!!!
Tip for being healthy, let the rice cool over night in the refrigerator and use it the next day instead
need more of these
okay so i made this.. and im typically not the person to comment on videos but i have to say... everything from the price breakdowns to the taste was amazing! it will say it took me a while to make everything, it took about 3-4 hours for me to meal prep and clean up afterwards but i also dont cook in that fashion to often so it was a new change of pace. the taste it truly amazing i mean it tastes like bibipop and chipotle had a baby its *chefs kiss*. the only thing i would recommend is using chicken breast instead (unless you like the amount of fat on chicken thighs), after cooking and marinating your chicken, stick the peppers on your chicken while the cook in the oven and then slice them in with the chicken to add extra flavor... also when making the beans.. i would take out the seeds of the serono pepper.. it was super spicy for mine. last thing i would recommend is using store bought minced garlic or way less galric cloves in the sause, just cause its a lot of garlic in my opinion... this Recipe was literally PERFECT and i will 100% be making it again... good job Joshua we love you!
Breaking down the cost of everything if you're buying from scratch is exactly what we all wanted thank you papi ❤️
More money saving moves - Prior to scorching the jalapeno peppers, scoop out some of both jalapeno and serrano seeds for that victory garden we're all going to need soon and yes, leftover veg scraps get incorporated into the compost pile. Save the raw pepper stems as they supposedly can be used as yogurt starter (that's on my list to verify). Save some tomato seeds. Plant one of the cloves of garlic from the bulb. If not going with the canned black beans but cooking some dried ones, save a few of the precooked dried beads so now you have 5 different veg seeds you didn't have to purchase.
Use 2 onions, slicing them both into rings saving the larger rings for onion rings later and using the smaller rings for the recipe. Run the paper dry skins in the blender and store in old spice jars to use as flavoring. Perhaps there is enough root ends to plant (#6 veg variety for the garden) but if not, cut every bit of eatable onion from around the ends. Reuse the vinegar water to pickle another batch of vegetables.
Purchase bone and skin on thighs to give you homemade stock along with an extra treat of cracklings. Baked crackings will cook out some of the fat calories.
The four corn cobs will make 1 jar of corn cob jelly which tastes similar to honey. Realistically, wait until you have frozen 12 corn cobs to make a batch of jelly.
Zest the lime before juicing. Let it naturally dry, store and flavor future dishes.
Perfect for a meal prep.
Made this tonight. This is freaking delicious!
A sound effect on every word in that intro MAN that’s a lot of effort big ups to Kendrick (or whoever edited)
Price breakdown is fantastic. Cheers to you and the team
