Nigerian Supreme Court is for the highest bidder. The governors in Nigeria were able to secure judgment from Supreme Court in three days but they couldn't sue the federal government for lake of petroleum products. The Supreme Court declared a judgment for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, but the government said no. This same Supreme Court declared Lawan the candidate for senate when he didn't participate in the primary election. Nigeria is governed by a criminal syndicate and the result is what you are seeing.
Mr. Falana should understand that there is nothing supreme about the Supreme court because the court has reduced itself to a mere tool in the hands of APC government. They are using the court "any how" The Supreme court was used by APC government to remove a democratically elected governor of Imo state and imposed a fourth positioned candidate in the election on the state. It is not surprising to note that the same APC government can back the CBN governor to disregard Supreme court. So whatever Supreme court sees today is a self inflicted harm
I disagree with the SAN. Does the Supreme Court has jurisdiction or not?, not does it assume jurisdiction. Does it have jurisdiction or not? The answer is NO. The Supreme Court was clearly bought. Falana is correct on his first position-that CBN should have respected the Supreme Court's interim order. However, he ignored the fact that Nigeria's Supreme Court is corrupt, politically partisan, and has incompetent justices. A Supreme Court that brazenly installed Hope Uzọdimma as governor of Imo state and crowned Lawan the winner of a senatorial primary of which he was not a candidate should not be surprised if it is reviled by Nigerians or that its rulings are ignored. Falana is wrong in minimizing the importance of jurisdiction on any matter, jurisdiction is the ground upon which all court decisions stand. @Joe plus ①②①⑨②⑦①②①⓪⑧ I am learning fast from you Sir. I really appreciate. However globally Cashless Policy is a mirage, only Cashless economy is valid. More importantly Cashless economy is not absolutely compulsory. Cash and Cards are being accepted in the so called developed countries. Therefore either it is monetary policy or not, it is illegal to force it absolutely. This development has set negative precedent in the country with respect to: 1. Supremacy of Supreme Court in all matters according to the constitution 2. Banks decline customers withdrawals on funded accounts 3. Banks rejecting legal tender currencies while matter is in court and status quo supposed to be maintained.
Supreme court already caused this whole problem when they didn't involve the CBN in the suit. Without CBN being in attendance to defend themselves, you can't get to the route of this matter. You can't indict me with an offence without me being present to defend myself. Who knows maybe the so called politicians have gone ahead to buy the notes from the banks and come back to complain?. The problems Nigeria are facing now is not charge of money
The law, as stipulated by the Supreme court, shall eventually have sway and apprehend the reprehensible in this instance.
21:48 But that's the limitation of the judiciary. It has no enforcement power. It can only interprete the law. It relies on the executive to enforce the law. And if a judicial ruling is against the executive, how can it enforce a ruling against itself?
Like Mr. Falana said we are running a secretive Government - how much did CBN gave the banks we should know. You can only get 2 new notes from 20k dispensed directly from the ATMs to even get the chance to withdraw is like a war, long and unending queues is the other of the day. Confusion
They are making us a victim of their own mistakes..Rubbish
CBN has for once set a landmark precedent
Falana did not answer the question of who is going to enforce the supreme court order which is not obeyed by government. I was waiting for answer but he evaded it intelligently like dubious politicians would do.
@Joe plus ①②①⑨②⑦①②①⓪⑧ Interest rate is a monetary instrument while Money is a Legal Tender and Payment Instrument
This development has set negative precedent in the country with respect to:
1. Supremacy of Supreme Court in all matters according to the constitution
2. Banks decline customers withdrawals on funded accounts
3. Banks rejecting legal tender currencies while matter is in court and status quo supposed to be maintained.
dat y Peter obi is saying rule of laws ,
Nigeria is a shame!
And with all due respect Mr Falana, on election day, the so called security agencies are a "toy" for politicians as they can easily be bribed as well as the people voting which is what this policy is bent on stopping. You lawyers should stop acting like you don't know what's going on in the country.
To move to cashless society will only happen if its more convenience and easy for people to have anothe mean for transaction betetr than use cas as the cxash is more risky with carry costs. That could not be forced people to do it!
This one na awon alagbara fight now o..let's c how it ends.
"Where the role is reversed, confusion raves", CBN is become the presidency, what an incompetency!
Let the CBN tell us how much it has released out!
CBN has for once disobeyed the Council of State pronouncement as well as the supremacy of the Supreme Court
Central Bank of Nigeria officials were in the North now swapping new currency with the people, what happens to we in the South .
Truly one Nigeria sister Maope !!!
Some people are frustrated and even depressed because of the current problem of Naria
Sorry sir, Supreme court is not an executive arm of government. They should face their job and allow CBN do theirs!
Is CBN created himself?
@@atibaadewale8341 Is supreme court that created CBN? Is it Supreme court that created itself?
I can bet u that, will are going continue with the old money, CBN are expecting tomorrow judgment.
@@atibaadewale8341 I can tell you that CBN will give a new deadline that will be final and it will be before election. That I can assure you. That old note will not be used beyond 23rd of February
This is called Judicial Review. If the Executive Arm do something against the public intetrests of the citizens, thay have the right to get remedy from the Suprem Court! It is because the Executoive Arm is mended to protect the interests of the citizens!
Don't blame the CBN governor, the courts have completely lost its honours, case in point akpabio lawal and Osun.
Confusions everywhere, Nigeria needs intellectuals to lead us not just ambitious politicians who refused to follow the rule and order of the law.
Suprem Court is for the highest bidder. They are bag of shame
The government must not comply to order.
Did you forget same government did not comply to order to release Nnamdi kanu or is kanu not a Nigerian.
Why did you not comment when the government refused to comply to law of the court to release Mazi Nnamdi kanu?
You are fools.
Cannot even say the truth for once
imagine some schools de are paying schools fees in dollars omo wahala full this country
BOOM & DOOM.
Why is it too tedious for Buhari to sack Emefiele? Who is Emefiele? Is Emefiele above the law of the land? does Emefiele single man ambition greater than our collective survival as a Nigerian? can Emefiel individual interest override the interest of the masses? what is really going on in Nigeria for God's sake!
What if it is Buhari that is behind it all?
Why is this so different from other supreme Court judgement that was disobeyed by this same administration ?
Why is MNK still in detention till date ?
After he was discharged and acquitted by same supreme Court ?
