"Some people might say we're behind, some people might say we're ahead of the game, I'm just where I'm supposed to be with my personal goals and seasons of life." YES!!!! Love these words you shared ❤ I've been feeling like I'm not doing enough or measuring up, but I am fine for exactly the reasons you said. Thank you! 🤗🥺💕🙏
Thank you for the last part of your video. Homeschooling two kiddos w/ a newborn here so I’m in the season you were in & it was confirmation for how I’ve been feeling. 💗
We are actually ahead and I am glad we are. We got sick in January and on Tuesday we put down our senior dog. We still did school the day of and after but it is like a slower fog. Next week and the week after we have appointments. We are ahead only because we are year round but we are able to slow down for these moments. I have been doing mini units which make me feel like at least we are doing something during our fog.
First of all I am so sorry about your dog. We put down our senior dog when Nicholas was about 3 years old. It was hard. I'm glad you all are ahead and thankful gmfor year round Homeschooling and the flexibility of homeschooling. And I love mini unit studies when I am in a fog here too. I forgot to mention that we did some of those too during those 4 months. Really helped. Thanks for sharing friend and sending hugs your way!
@@lifewithginabyeah it’s hard especially since the dog grew up with my oldest. Then we got other bad news today. I think sometimes that homeschooling (even with mini units) help us to try to stay in a rhythm. I hate being behind but to be honest I just see it as a lifelong journey. Right now we are reading about ancient royal families and I am learning for the first time. It isn’t our core curriculum but it keeps my mind preoccupied and it sorts feels gossipy reading something they happened in the 14th century. 😂 I decided for the summer we do our daily oral language, math, and a fun science curriculum from TGATB. Any ancient history gossip is a bonus.
@sarahe7515 now I want to hear the gossip! Please share the book you are reading lol sorry that today you got bad news. And yes to it being a journey... you are so right!
@@lifewithginabI am reading The Wives of King Henry VIII. It is single spaced and huge. My daughter just studied Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth Bloody Mary( Queen of Scotts,) Maria Antoinette, as well as their personal hired explorers. That sure was gossipy back in the day. We are going into Spain shortly as it is linking to that.
Thank you for the encouragement. My son is technically in Pre-K, he will finish TGTB Math K tomorrow, but we are going much slower with LA K. Love that I can tailor to his strengths and weaknesses!
Good work Gina! Flexibility is key for sure. We are year round homeschoolers here too! My oldest has special needs and I love that we can take our time on the hard days and pull back when he needs. My youngest is still a big imaginative play girl, and I found if I push her to do more schoolwork than the core basics, we butt heads. It’s so much better to be light and take our time. Summer is definitely lighter, mostly just math and language arts. Looking forward to next weeks videos!!🎉❤
Love that Sara! I think my youngest girl will definitely be more like your youngest too. I'm actually creating a mini unit study for her all surrounding books and play. Which I'm going to share on my prek curriculum picks. Excited to share! And thank you for watching and sharing your experience! ❤
@@lifewithginab that’s an awesome idea! I know she’s learning through osmosis too with the things her brother and I talk about/read. And play IS learning for kids too. 😃 can’t wait to see what you do!
I love videos like this. Ive had some healthy issues this year and I still persevered with homeschooling. Im finishing this month up as the end of the school year. May we're taking a break. June we'll be starting summer school at least 2-3 times a week for a few .
Oh man, do I ever relate to your state of mind this school year! Court and struggling are all things I've been dealing with, too. It's been a hard year!
I was just going to check if you had uploaded , and this video was the first to pop up! I always get excited when I see a new video of yours. You keep me so engaged and motivated! I am also a year round homeschooling mom to 3 😁 Keep the videos coming❤ God Bless you!🇨🇦
My kids love The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls! I’m so sorry you were robbed. That’s happened to us before when I was traveling with the kids by myself and it was awful.
Totally get it... I feel like because we go with the flow here (literally) and just doing year round Homeschooling it helps. The curriculum also helps a lot! Take it day by day... you guys are going through a lot of life changes, and I'm sure the kids are learning a lot with life itself... we slowed down when we moved so Nicholas could build the well with Thierry and do things on our land. Finding that balance between living and doing the other things 😅❤️
I bought the Secret Scrolls series for read aloud. I read the first one myself before reading it aloud and LOVED it. I can't wait to read it to my kids.
Homeschool is great because it isn’t traditional schooling like public and you can take your time in any area your child needs work and that’s the problem with public school is not all kids learn the same way or the same pace too and unfortunately they get told they are too slow and that’s not true! My daughter would get frustrated this past school year and I thought it was the good and beautiful curriculum and we quit but guess what it wasn’t ! We needed to stop and go over it until she got it. And now we started over with level one and I’m amazed at how well my daughter is doing. I was very hard on myself as well and got rid of a classroom we had because it was like a public school setting and just repainted a thrifted desk a big bulletin board where she pins stuff and she loves it! I just want women or fathers to know we don’t have to do it the way public does it!
I've also been thinking hard about year round schooling. I've been working with my son since he was 2, but this fall he starts kindergarten. I've sort of loosely followed a 2 or 3 month on, 1 month off pace until now, year round. And I keep thinking even though traditional kindergarten seems like the right step to take with him for now, I want to be doing things with him still. Definitely over the summer, but maybe some on Saturdays during the school year. Not all day, or hours on the weekend, something around 45 minutes or an hour? But I'm not ready to just give up the connection we've built with our home learning together.
Yeah we are totally all over the place. My kindergartner is on her last lesson in math and 3 more for LA, my oldest I took a lot of time focusing on doubles addition with regrouping in the apologia level2 and then added addition facts that stick and it put us a little more behind but let me tell you, her addition is on another level!!! I'm so proud of her and that's the beauty of homeschool. Sure she's bummed she has a lot left but I am soo so proud of her! ❤ You are right! It's perfect flexibility! So glad everything is going well for you now.
Love that! Thank you so much for watching and the encouragement... loved hearing about your daughter... congrats to her and to you for taking the time to notice that we can stop and focus on a concept! ❤️
I am on lesson 28 of level k language arts and I was feeling really guilty about it, thinking we should be further along, until I saw this video. Your video made me feel a lot better about not being further along with his school. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us.
