Journey on Indian Railways: Relaxing Train Sounds Ep.4

7 January 2017, Goa, India.
Volume 4 of my train sounds compilation is here, and this volume is a sequel to Volume 1, an extended version of which many of you asked for. I have tried to record as much as possible, but as the Railways upgrade the infrastructure here, the short welded rails that contribute to much of my sound compilations are fast disappearing - they are being replaced by the newer and safer long welded rail sections. This means the constant track sounds are all but gone, and a constant humming sound has taken their place. I am sure the next time I go here, all of the tracks will have been upgraded so I am happy that I was able to document this.
Some wind noise and the banter of a few noisy co-passengers made its way into the video, but I have kept it that way without messing about with the audio.

What is short welded and long welded rails bro

SWRs are short length track segments (usually in tens of metres) that are used in ghats or places with too many sharp curves because it is easier to work with short lengths. These used to be present in other places as well. LWRs are improved segments which are much longer in length (usually 100+ metres at least) and expansion joints are provided every now and then. These are newer tech, much more reliable and safer, and require lower maintenance. They're also easier to lay out.
