I suspect that, like the rumors say, the next Nintendo device will be backwards compatible and will make some games 60fps. This is probs that. I hope. I'm coping.
This is the third video of yours I've watched today where you bring up the 30 fps argument. Now, I can't speak to the reasoning on this game (though I do agree with you that it might have to be due to model and lighting complexity) but in defense of the Pikmin 1+2 and SMT Nocturne HD versions, the games are most likely locked due to the fact a lot of games from the PS1 and PS2 era of consoles tied their 3D animation timing to the overall frame rate and simply increasing that number doesn't always work and can actually create additional problems both in the animation itself and elsewhere in the game. My go to example of this problem is Resident Evil 4 HD on PS4 and Xbox One where they increased the frame rate of the which didn't affect any 3D model animations but it did introduce new timing related bugs due to there being an additional 30 frames per second that didn't exist alongside the original code that it now has to guess and interpret as well as it also creates problems with particle and sprite related animations in the game. The easiest one of these issues that you can find mentioned or shown off on the internet is the fact that this breaks the water splashing particle animation in the updated release as it was only ever animated in 30 fps and because of this frame rate increase and nobody at Capcom having the foresight to go back and look at these types of things, the 30 fps animation does run at 60 fps but the code doesn't understand how to properly interpret it so the animation now runs at half speed and runs in slow motion. This is why some games don't mess with the frame rate as you run a great risk of breaking something elsewhere within the title unless you're willing to go over everything with a fine tooth comb, and most developers push out these HD ports in 6-9 months and don't even bother trying to fix them later either, so cut these developers some slack. Also, in the case of the SMT Nocturne having original content stripped and sold as DLC, it was Sega's decision as well as it was confirmed that they did this to Dante due to the fact they paid a licensing fee to bring him back in the updated release so fans got to offset the cost. I say it was Sega's decision as they have been tacking on DLC for games that never had it recently with Sonic Colors Ultimate, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania made you pay for the GameCube character skins as well as other skins including the now delisted Hello Kitty and Monster Rancher ones, and now Sonic X Shadow Generations, among others.
Yup, basically man that's the very reason why. Most likely some titles are CPU locked and just increasing the FPS without modification makes the internal speed clock faster. For the case of Paper Mario, it's just unacceptable.
My only real problems with this remake are that I wish you could disable the dialogue chatter and I really, REALLY wish the classic soundtrack was available from the main menu before starting a new game (I wanna watch the intro with the nostalgic tunes, dang it!). I haven't had any issue with the 30fps making things feel sluggish or unresponsive, I think those complaints are way overblown. I still feel like I prefer this new version of the game over the old one despite my issues with the sound, though. The positive changes outweigh the negative to me.
And I think that's more than valid. I agree, I do wish the beginning had the old soundtrack to listen to them instead of the new, but keep playing and you will see how sluggish the 30fps is. It's kind of a shane
I love both versions of this game! It's a shame the Switch version took a step back in terms of framerate, but hopefully the next system brings 60fps to this and many other otherwise great games.
TTYD deserve is remake, it is a GameCube classic who's expensive to buy today so it's cool to have the remake as a alternative to the og. But more I watch your video and more I thinking that if TTYD deserve his remake, it's the OG Paper Mario from the Nintendo 64 that need one. Not really for the technical aspect, even today Paper Mario 64 is still looking good, but more about the pacing of the game who's kind slow for our standard !
I 100% agree where I feel the original 64 heavily needs it since it doesn't meet today's visual quality standard and I think that will work very nicely
Ready for the real gut punch? Lady Decade did a breakdown video a bit back regarding this game's price worldwide, and it was surprising. In the UK, they pay equivalent to $42 for the game, Australia breaks down to $38, Asia is getting the game for $34, and *drum roll* the game is $27 in Japan. Everybody gets the game cheaper, America is getting it for $60 plus tax (where applicable) so I won't be buying the game until I can find it cheaper (and PlayAsia is charging $65-70 for import copies of those other regions netting them a huge profit).
@@Kelphelp eh I don’t think so but I have heard people complain that super guards are too easy now which is one reason I understand. I think they mighta lowered it because they had so many details on the screen, I don’t know why they actually changed it but they probably had a reason.
@@Kelphelp you mean below 30? yeah, i cant take when developers prioritize visuals over performance. performance is tightly connected to a gameplay and expreience while visuals is not. Visuals are gotten used to after 5-10 minutes and you dont even care that much about it, while gameplay and technical limitations follow you all the time you play a game. I was so dissapointed. this doesnt feel like nintendo quality. I never played this game but ill be playing game cube version, ill skip this one.

I'm trying to cope as well 😭 this is asinine
@@Kelphelp absolutely lol
you are coping.
they could easily make toggle switches to make game run smooth on switch, or patch on switch 2 to make it look better.
not if its capped at 30.
game is so bright that hurts the eyes, gamecube was a little dark cuz everyone was playing in a CRt anyways

As always, bringing us high quality videos.
Always trying my hardest man. Appreciate the love

If it does bring up the fidelity then it's a huge quality of life. Otherwise, I would consider this unstock man. It sucks tbh

...real question is though... this at the price they want?.. OR trying to find a OG copy and a game cube for Far more.

Look the much scene vertically we miss with the widescreen... I'll stick with game cube.
Agreed, I low-key do love how it looks on GameCube aspect ratio wise
I never notice a difference in fps ever, I dont understand why people hate 30 so much.
30fps is never bad, the problem is the game was Initially at 60 and then went to 30. Its a huge downgrade

😢
You know the fps may get pushed up with the switch 2
We have no info on the next switch not if it's backwards compatible or if it's gonna boost performance on older titles. Don't jump the gun man.
maybe, maybe not.
So there's no new content on the remake? I guess I can happily stick with the GC version
Very little to none. Quality of life features but definitely not new content
or tou can hack the switch and use 60fps mod...
Hey you look cleaner. 4 years ago you were like che Guevara
And now I'm like...clean Che Guevara. Hell of a compliment tbh since I am Argentinian
30 feels cheap. 45 and above is way better.
45 would have been much better, but there are moments I've seen it dips at 30. Not often but Justin's couple.
