Lookit that little Kit-Kat kitty! Isn't she Beautiful!! Great song for getting our strumming and singing coordinated on. Good also for practicing our fingerstyle picking skills. Thank you Ms. Bernadette for another great lesson. Cheers!
I really liked that you threw a couple of C7 's in this song !!! & a fingerstyle pattern 2 change it up !!!!!! I loved ur live stream yesterday & have absolutely loved every Christmas Song Challenge. Thank you for sharing your love of music! Luv ya always, Latonya Renee Williamson Ps. It made me so happy that you said my name yesterday on ur live stream! YOU ROCK ☆♡☆♡☆!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful uke! I'd seen it before but never knew the details. How special that it was handpainted by a friend. Love that so much! Another cute cardigan sweater, by the way!
Thank you! Glad you like the art on my ukulele! I love being able to show my friend's talents. The cardigan is from the Goodwill in Japan! Over there they are called Manga Souko!
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic Oh boy!! I looked it up and spent 20 mins going down a Manga Souko wormhole here on TH-cam...!! My husband was stationed in Okinawa (USMC) a very long time ago, before we were married. He still talks about it every now and again. Must be tough to be away sometimes.
Ahahaha! I had a feeling you might look it up. That place was amazing to shop at! LOTS of marines go through Oki. I hope you guys visit. You would LOVE it! ❤️❤️
Nails trimmed ✓ Uke's in tune ✓ Happy finger's waving Ms.B ✓ Love this song, because you are right, I can sing along. The finger picking is YES, sounds rich and intricate, yet simple to play, awesome addition. Thanks Ms.B. When you're calling out the next chord in the first run through it nicely plants the flow in my mind. The last play along becomes relaxed and fun. Like the pretty thumbnail at the end, plus hearing Cole's beautiful music it's like a goodbye hug until tomorrow.
Hey! I have started calling out the next chords because of you! Ever since you told me that it helped hearing the chord being called out, I remind myself to say the chord name out loud (except in the final play along).
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic Really? Well I must say thank you, for seeing my hand waving in the study room that's packed with 77+ thousand students, for adding my thought to your teachings. I like that you don't call it out in the last play through. The first couple time is like a dress rehearsal and the last one is like opening night. We are ready for a flawless performance as the notes are memorized. Hope others find it helpful as well.
How cool is that, I remember "Little Drummer Boy" as the first Christmas song catching my attention a couple years ago when I was in Kindergarten (LOL..., yeah, I crack myself up sometimes) and it still thrills me today. Thanks for including this gem.
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic I haven't done it yet. It's do-able. The finger picking is lovely, but my index finger is permanently weaker due to a past fracture. I will take a chance though.
I got it! I have to admit I was a title behind with work and the holidays. But I have had some time off so I re-addressed this one and came up with a different strumming pattern. I do a 1-2-&-3-4 for all the measures that doesn’t have the rumpumpum pum in them. For those I do a 1&2-3-4. It’s a bit back and forth with it but it sounds good. Thanks Ms B
Bernadette Teaches Music haha yeah right! I’m not sure, am I playing it different or is this the way you are teaching it? And I didn’t have it right the first time I had a go at it. Haha! All I know is, I now got the count, I can sing and I can play along with your tutorial.
I've always liked this song. I played snare drum from 6th thru 12th grade and also in University marching band and orchestra and played Little Drummer Boy and a lot of the other songs in many Christmas concerts. My past experience makes reading the charts and learning strumming patterns come a lot easier. Glad something does LOL. At least I have the rhythm part down.
As a kid growing back in the 80's , I always want a toy drum, we always passed by this store( I was probably 3 at that time, year 1987) and all I see was that toy drum in the box on top of the display shelf. I never had one as a kid, but, when i was in High School I became a part of our school Marching band, & guess what, my Instrument was a Snare Drum 😃☺️😁. Sometimes we don't always get the things that we want right away, but if we are patient enough, through the course of time ,we might just get it. The same as playing the Ukulele, it's not easy, but, if we take our time and practice again & again nothing is impossible. Happy Holidays to all! Peace & love!!! ✌️& ❤️
I have my eye on the beautiful arrangement of ornaments and stuff at the end of the videos in this challenge and this one is different from the ones before and all are satisfying to the eye, it feels classy and of course, Christmas-y, and yes this is a long sentence. 😂

Shrestha Basak It’s Carol of the Bells, and Ms. B said that will be our final song for this challenge! Never in my dreams did I think I’d be able to play that song on anything but my flute, and even then it is boring, because there’s no ability to play solo and have depth and harmony. Kudos to Cole Brandt for arranging the song and allowing Ms. B to use it. I love that this channel is a place to collaborate! ♥️
Music might be my forte, but unfortunately not maths! I did Day 12 before this one. Oops. Loved the tutorial, and please I hope there will be many more to come. Thank you again, Bernadette.
That printable is the most helpful boost to my progress since the 30 day challenge! It's made get back into sight reading sheet music which I haven't done since high school band class. I do have to try to cover the tab so my eyes don't drift down and cheat, but I understand that the tab needs to be there since learning to read music is a big learning curve. Are there any recommended websites to find more sheet music like this for melodies to songs, especially easier ones. Thanks and Happy Holidays🎅🎄
Hi Stephen. Thank you so much for taking the time to write a comment! I'm so glad you like this printable~! Glad this is helping you with your sight reading and keeping your music-reading abilities up to date. I used to be in band too and I really believe in the importance of reading music notation. So far I haven't seen any other websites that write for ukulele in music notation but I also haven't looked for them. Thank you for being here. Happy Holidays ❤️🤗🎄
Stephen Lee~ I just took a look on Amazon and "The Daily Ukulele: 365 Songs for Better Living (Jumpin' Jim's Ukulele Songbooks)", looked pretty good for what you might want. Old time classics, (might be too dated for your taste, don't know), has the melody line shown, chords are above the staff, easily covered if need be. There are others too I'm sure. Hope this helps. Cheers!
@@SeanVplayer Thanks Sean, I will consider getting a song book. A problem I had back when I was a kid trying to learn guitar was how none of the songs interested me at all. Everything was Yankee Doodle, Happy Birthday or other early 20th century stuff. How hard can it be to make simplified versions of more popular songs, even if they're also older like Queen or Pink Floyd? That might have kept me motivated to keep at it.
@@StephenLee1 In that case a better choice might be "Classic Rock Ukulele Songbook". I'm sure if you look around you can find one even better suited to your needs by artists you like the best. Best of luck, and Merry Christmas! Cheers!

Me. B, I have a question (actually a few) about this Ukulele: when your friend painted it, did she have to prep the surface at all? Or just paint on the uke as is? Did she use acrylic paint or some sort of special paint? I think the artwork on this uke is fantastic. Thanks for all you do.
Hi Stephen! She didn’t have to prep the surface because it was a satin finish. She tested her acrylic paints on a similar ukulele and they worked! In the end she added a glossy finish only to the parts she had painted to make them pop even more :)
i struggle with singing and struming :( but its ok i cant sing very well anyways. and im tired today my mind its all like lets play but my body is all like take a break dude. idk what to do the strggle is real
