If ever anyone deserved to have their number retired league wide it's Johnny Bower. To his family I would say thank you for sharing such a wonderful man with us. He gave so much of his time to us that I'm sure we stole a lot of that life from his loved ones and we love him too. So thank you for letting us have a bigger piece of him than I am sure we deserve. We love you Johnny and all you did for the game we love. May you rest in peace.

Him and Howe are the definition of Saskatchewan. When you hear them talk you hear generations of us. Great man he was.

and if his passing happens the year they win a cup again it will be even more bitter sweet. People will forget by then but it would be a nice send off.

I’m here because I’m Reading Johnny Bowers book , The China Wall. A great read. That’s coming from a life long Boston Bruins Fan. 62 years of age.

Just learned of Johnny Bower's death.
Had tears in my eyes watching the vid.
Watched Bower help win the last four
    Stanley Cups ['62, '63, '64, '67] for the
Toronto Maple Leafs. Thanx for this.

I don't watch or particularly enjoy hockey. To be blunt I've never watched it,besides a good deep dive into guys getting seriously injured .
brought me here..what a badass sport, with such strong men to love it. Rest peacefully

Johnny and Gordie lie in peaceful slumber. Two fantastic friends awaiting their resurrection. Johnny was a humble and genuinely kind man.

If he saw the goaltending in the NHL these days, he'd be appalled. He'd see technically unsound floppers in oversized pads that have ruined goaltending. I'm sure he'd ask the league to sort this mess out. These days, shoot high and it's in. I started following the Leafs in 1957 when my family moved to Toronto. Johnny sure could teach these floppers a thing or two.
