    The "Nintendo reboot special" got me. Fantastic work as always, and I'm looking forward to your video on stitching. Looks like I'll be working with leather for an upcoming cosplay, and I think your videos will be very helpful!

    Love the video man, super informative. I love how you explain things nice and simple to me like the dummy I am, but don't make me feel stupid.

    Yes! Squares and triangles and you can make/approximate anything.
    ...Waiting IS the hardest part.
    And you are making us wait for the next one! You cruel wise crafter....dare I say, crafty crafter...

      Lol it is cruel of me to point out how awful waiting is and then make you wait a whole week for the next one

    For the Germans out there: If you need a very durable and strong bond get Kövulfix, but only used it in a well ventilated room

    I truly enjoy watching your videos. You explain things so well, and I appreciate the the fun way you in which you do that. Thank you. Also, how can I get a couple of those coasters?

    • @Cxizent
      @Cxizent  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the extremely kind words! Those coasters were made as a birthday present for my brother, I hadn't actually considered selling them until now. If there's demand I'll make an Etsy store at some stage, I'm sure

      I figured as long as I'm going to go into way too much detail about these things, I might as well spend some time talking about it lol. Glad you enjoyed it!

    very helpfull but what glue is best for leather

  • @kevinhenschel375

    Hi this video is great! The glue you used is it flexible after it dries? I am using some leather finger cots to fix the finger lining on a baseball glove and the glue needs to be flexable.

    • @Cxizent
      @Cxizent  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for the kind words! The glue is flexible, yes - leather as a flexible material needs flexible glue

    I didn’t realize that Fiebings leathercraft cement is a contact cement

    Hey I have a question regarding glueing leather to aluminum. I have a small aluminum cylinder that I would like to wrap but want to avoid stitching for production reasons. Any tips for making a clean looking seam where the wrap meets around the cylinder? Thanks!

    • @Cxizent
      @Cxizent  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ShreddinSleds for glueing leather to another rigid material like aluminium, I'd recommend a two-part epoxy resin (here in Australia we have a brand called Araldite that I recommend strongly)
      If you don't stitch it, the seam will always be visible, but you can put some contact cement into the seam to attempt to bond both sides of leather together.
      Wrap the whole thing in something like a towel or shrink wrap and bind it with string to keep it snug while the glue dries, and good luck!

      @ShreddinSleds หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Cxizent I’ll see if I can get that epoxy here in the States. I typically use E6000 which seems to adhere to anything, then I was thinking of using a piston ring compressor tool for clamping. I guess I’m also wondering if there’s anything decorative I could put over the seem? Like a small diameter rope or something other than just the seem? I dunno I’m open to ideas. Thanks for the response! Not everyone checks their TH-cam comments to reply

    Hello :) Loving the videos.

    • @Cxizent
      @Cxizent  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the kind words! I started by buying a "starter pack" from eBay that definitely had a lot of crap tools in it, but I don't think that was a waste because it showed me which tools in the kit I actually used, and I replaced those with higher quality versions.
      That being said, I sure don't want to purposefully steer you towards a crap starter pack, and I buy most of my leather and tools direct from local suppliers so I can't recommend any Amazon kits, sorry! If you're in Australia, Birdsall Leathercraft have some quality gear and a few starter kits like these:

    What type of glue would you use if you're just binding the outer edges so you can sew easier? Would gorilla glue work?

    • @Cxizent
      @Cxizent  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Realistically, that's what the glue is doing here: it doesn't come into contact with the water at all. Any contact cement will work

  • @GermiesCoasterYard
    @GermiesCoasterYard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So hypothetically speaking, let’s say I found this tutorial after my first round of gluing and didn’t score it or wait for it to be tacky… how should I correct this after an hour of letting it set?

    • @Cxizent
      @Cxizent  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, in that very hypothetical situation, if you can pull lightly on the two pieces you've glued and they stay stuck, I'd generally leave it.
      If you pull on the pieces and they come apart, pull them completely apart, wash the glue off with water or metho, and wait for it to dry completely before attempting again.
      Also worth bearing in mind is that many slow drying glues become stronger over 24 hours, some even increase in boobs strength up to 48 hours after application. So if it's a bit "meh" after an hour, it can sometimes be worth it to wait a day or two and see if it comes good.
      Hope all this helped!

    • @GermiesCoasterYard
      @GermiesCoasterYard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cxizent thank you! I pulled the piece off just fine and there was no residue on the box. Was able to restart from scratch and the current version seemed to be bonded much better after 30 minutes! Won’t do any “stress testing” until tomorrow. Thanks for the video! Definitely saved my project 😊

    Pack it up, folks. There will never be a better video explanation of leather glue basics than what youve seen here.
    Thank you for your time and attention if you were planning on making your own video explanation, but your services will no longer be required. I suggest trying to explain something else, like "12 Home uses for man-o-war jellyfish venom," or "Advanced Toilet plunging techniques for Yeti urine."
