I think the difference is that korean corndog actually is like a pancake batter but with some yeast instead of baking soda so it taste more like a doughnut and it doesn't have corn meal and the panko adds to the crispyness but the typical american corndog is made the way toast makes it and the korean corndog you gotta add sugar sprinkled after it's fried then typically you have it with ketchup or cili sause and depends if you wanna add mayo or mustard or natcho cheese sauce to it

Hmm I think you guys missed the basic ingredients for seasoning or they would've been perfect. Next time try with some salt, sugar, black pepper, & maybe cayenne in the batter. I don't remember if you guys used buttermilk or not but it definitely changes the flavor as well, you need to do taste tests to see if it's turning out okay & ALWAYS mix dry ingredients together & wet ingredients together before adding them together, its why it was so lumpy I think cause it wasn't mixed properly. Plus I'd try maybe Colby Jack cheese ones mixed with the Mozzarella cheese on one next time & try to do it like a skewers, one then the other ( & try it with the hotdogs & cheese so it's a better mix of flavors!!)
and u have to salt n flavour the outside. i would surgest to use panko on it to make it better. also mix the batter with beer instead of water. A pinch of salt n some other spice u like. oh.. and mix vete n corn flour. makes the batter more smooth n tastier.
