Music can, and often is, used to increase immersion by emulating sensations that cannot be experienced through a screen. This track is a great example of this effect. The drumbeat in the background is at the same pace as a racing heart that you would get after that suspect just shot at you and your boys, the slightly discordant violin, a sense of dread and tension, your head spinning slightly.
This song is what an adrenaline dump sounds like.

When I was playing the game I never noticed the drum because I was trying to tune out my heartbeat so I thought only the droning violin noise was noticeable to me.

@@WindowsDoor Don't get me wrong. This is not a bad track overall BUT totally overused for what it is. At least with me? It got stale real fast. Just my opinion, I believe they should have never used this track as a main theme in most missions. It just did not do it for me. In certain specific few missions then yeah A okay. But overused at this point.
