Obviously (well, to me anyway), figuring out the plot isn't going to reveal anything absolute without the WoG (Word of God, i.e. stuff straight from the developers). Recently, just by coincidence, I've been reading through a bunch of books on stuff like Atlantic, Ys, and similar "sunken land" myths (GURPS Atlantis has been my go-to resource), so here's my personal analysis: -There once was a great land, ruled by the deerheads. -The land of the deerheads delved into magic as well as machinery. Or perhaps science that might as well be magic, ala psionics. -As they were rising in greatness, the waters rose, and engulfed the deerheads. This process was gradual but inevitable, giving them plenty of time to develop statues indicating their adoption of diving equipment. As the seas rose, their powers faded, likely engulfed and absorbed by terrible creatures from the depths, the Goliaths, which stole the fundamental energies needed by their life-giving city engines. -At some point, the deerheads decided to put the majority of their people into a state of suspended animation, to await an awakening when the Goliaths could be defeated, and the power they stole restored. -A very few members of the deerheads, likely those mystics with the strongest psionic powers, chained themselves to the bottom in a state of deep meditation, in hopes of attaining the final leap to power that would allow them to finally challenge the Goliaths. -Our protagonist was the first to achieve this final leap in power, and sought out the bodies of his fellow sleepers, who had likely died instead of obtaining the power they sought, to absorb the power they had attained, turning their energies toward the salvation of the deerheads. This is, of course, all strictly my personal speculation, awaiting the WoG to confirm or deny.
I don't think its so positive. Most of the bosses aren't trying to fight you except for maybe the first one . You're going into these places and murdering random animals. The final boss doesn't even fight back until you have killed both of its lamps, and the spider one dies in an especially brutal way, looking at you as you swim down to suck its life out. The way you use the fauna without care for the things is also reflected. At 3:55, you can see the crab you use to break the fan literally has children.
@@sonwig5186 The issue is that crabs aren’t known to be nurturing or caring my guy. The baby crabs have the instinct hard wired into their brains to care for themselves on their own. Try to not mistake animals to be similar to humans. Not all creatures are nurturing or caring.
I wonder, how many times does ABG get scared in horror games? I know there's one video that has his mouse flicking a lot due to being scared but that's the only video I know that he visibly showed fear.
I’m sure he does get scared when playing horror games but doesn’t really want anyone to see, and that’s probably because he wants everyone to watch his videos with no commentary so they can enjoy the video peacefully.
Am not remembering what it was exactly, but am sure it's older than Disney's Atlantis. It was an artificial intelligence in a pyramid like shaped body, it chained an human to itself because was suffering from loneliness. Just related to the 'abyssal mecha-monster'. Am not really getting why the Kraken has a tree over itself or what the final Goliath should be. While the giant gulper eel is based on Sea Dragons(would have liked to see it swim freely btw). The glowing worms are very much like the brain eating ones in Limbo, and the little slalom to free one of them is basically Badland(Flappy Birds styled like Limbo).
Gonna be honest, this game feels like a massive disappointment. The "demo" showed up to the defeat of the first Goliath, and it gave the feeling that you were going to face other gargantuan things that want to devour you, but the other Goliaths are laughably easy with the way to defeat them being painfully obvious and putting your diver in virtually zero danger. The "story" also gives off too much of the whole cryptic "too deep for you" aspect and honestly, the game just goes down hill after you beat the Moray Goliath.
This setting is honestly wasted in a puzzle game, or at least a puzzle game like this. The game wants you to feel like you're facing ancient creatures of unforetold power... ! Which of course you beat by making them munch on rocks or eat gone-bad fishies. The design is fine but the lore (the observable lore that is) has zero cohesion: Titanic beasts, laughable weaknesses, anthro land-animal statues, possesion mechanics. What was this even meant to be about?? A question both for gameplay and in-game lore. Disappointing, to say the least.
The layout, game style, artwork, basically everything in this game is exactly like the game GRIS. Except this one is black and white and horror. At first I thought it was the same developers and artist because the creatures in this game are exactly like one deep water level from GRIS. The developers from SILT must have gotten the majority of their inspo from GRIS lol. But still, I love the play style, but it’s basically a horror black and white version of GRIS. Here’s a link th-cam.com/video/Cs3Hc9JD8a8/w-d-xo.html
This is a *slow* game. I get that we're going for massive things long sitting idle... but I'm watching at 2x speed and still finding opportunity to skip ahead with no loss of comprehension.
there will come a god with an image like ours but a soul different. he will waken the ancient beast and the goliaths will have reign over us no more. he will lead us back to our homes and save us from the deep.
$20 for an indie game isn't that bad. I spent double that on Flower and Abzu and finished both in an evening. You're essentially paying for a piece of interactive art.
@@DemstarAus Nah....plenty of indie games $20 and under that have way more content. This is an unoriginal limbo clone with a runtime of 2-3 hrs. And i don't want interactive art...i want a game.
This is more a puzzle game than a horror game. And more of a... I don't know... relaxing puzzle game. Never really seems like there's any terrible danger. Similar to GRIS, but not nearly as pretty or interesting.
Note: I covered an in-development demo of this back in February, but the full game has just been released on Steam and it's pretty awesome! :)
Was looking forward to your full playthrough since then!
I just watched your playthrough of the demo yesterday! Was pretty confused until I saw this was the full game.
What are those chained diver "bodies"? Save checkpoints?
@@shadyone6620 I think they're collectibles, I heard ir somewhere
I looked at the title and image and immediately remember!
This game is grossly underrated, it's absolutely stunning
Underwater horror games are so good, wish we had more of them
SOMA
The designs and visuals are undeniably phenomenal. The music and sounds is pretty good too. I wish I could say the same to its story.
I like all of these LIMBO inspired silhouette-esque games! They look simple but deliver a strong message!
What message did you get?

Four horsemen to free all

Thats a pretty good theory
About the Goliaths - it's interesting that the "possession tentacle" moves from the player to the fish
But always from the Goliath to the player

If you're under the ocean, and you see a light fleeing from you, then that's most likely something bad.
Love the design of those creatures.

I'm getting serious limbo vibes from this
I *was* fully planning on buying this, but to see that it only takes an hour to complete makes it not worth the price at the moment. That's a shame.
This game reminds me of both Limbo, because of the art style, and Ghost Trick, because of the mechanism.
Just imagine you're on that situation and feel the creapiest thing you've ever felt in your whole life.

this game surely inspired by Limbo, monochromatic game with bright white "worms" which controlling you in some way
I also thought about it, by the way to get rid of those glowing white worms you have to use it as food for other creatures, like in limbo
the full game is only an hour long?
Wow I thought the thumb nail was his soul being devoured but it was actually him control the beast
