Great stuff Jay. This video series has given me the confidence to do an upgrade from my Boom 2 system with parts supplied by you guys. Sent Volunteer Audio an email Saturday to start talking about system design. Looking forward to hearing from you guys!

Thank you for watching!
The more I watch your channel the more I want the Hertz system. My HD dealer off course pushes a different set up
Yes we remove the dealer setup and upgrade to the Hertz kits
Think I’ve decided on the Hertz SP Show Brand, weather resistant, lightweight, drop in install, and 3 year warranty. Thank You for all your info help me make best decision for my upgrade.
Thank you for watching!
@@davidblagg2576 we (Volunteer Audio) warranty the hertz speakers for 3 years in our packages
@@davidblagg2576 not all dealers create plug n play packages like we do, this gives us ability to give full warranty as if installed at an authorized dealer
I think I’ll be calling my guy today, swapping out the A to the K tweeter, thanks!
@@Misty3133 your welcome
@ My guys here in Massachusetts do amazing work! I wonder if they did the smaller A series tweeters mounted next to the front speaker instead of the other one,for convenience to them and not quality for me?
@ a and k are not a size, one is meant for active DSP install without grills, k includes passive crossovers and grills
@ I just looked,I only have a small Hertz tweeter and it’s not the SPL
i think what most wants to see is a sound comparison with other speakers to see which one sounds better, to see which speaker they would like to buy, just my honest opinion
The differences do not clearly come through in TH-cam videos. Come to the shop and I can let you hear them in person or you can call our sales team for help deciding
Im gonna have to call you guys about adding the 8’s in my bags with the rest of your setup. Loving the Volunteer Audio lineup and setup. I think the 8” for the lids will conplete my setup, but i said that when i got the reserve Deck and faring speakers 🤣 definitely got bit by the “more” bug
Thank you for watching and buying!
First!! Great job Jay, keep them coming, GOD BLESS!✌️😇👍
Thank you Ken! God bless you also!
I like the info on the HERTZ and the mounting info, what about the DS1 DSP from HERTZ?
Hi I’m looking to upgrade my custom system and would love your advice. Currently I have a 07 road king with a reckless fairing and the following equipment.
-Rockford PMX-1
-Rockford PBR400x4D amp
-DB Drive 1” horn tweeters
-Punch P1692 (6x9)
I just purchased the hertz SP4.5 amp and would like to get your opinion on the best speaker option to pair with this amp.
If they will fit I recommend the precision power ht series 6x9’s

Hi jay can i run the sx 690 neo with my CVO stage 2 stock installation. Or do i need to flash it ? Thanks a lot, love your job
@@amineallalallal3054 if you have boom stage 2 you must replace the amp and all speakers together
@@volunteeraudio you mean does not work with the stock installation ?
@@amineallalallal3054 no, I made a video explaining it in detail, factory speakers are bi amped and you can not flash the radio to get full range audio includes you replace the amplifier and speakers all together
@@amineallalallal3054 Harley Davidson Boom Audio! What makes it so bad? How do you properly upgrade it? Boom 1 or Boom 2?

Great review on these speakers Jay! I am driving a pair of these Hertz SX165 Neo's with a SounDigital 400.2 EVOX amp, no other speakers. Boom Box GTS is flashed for 6 speakers, 2 amps. The amp is rated at 132W rms @ 4 ohms and the speakers are rated at 100W rms max. I'm wondering where I should set the High Pass Filter on the amp. Do you think 60Hz is too low with the Hertz frequency response only going down to 100Hz? Trying to protect the speakers but not sacrifice too much bass in the process. Thanks!
The sound digital amps over inflate the power ratings, wattage is not the biggest concern when we think about blowing a speaker, distortion is and the reason you never see us running sound digital amps in our installs is due to very high distortion from their amplifiers. The sx165neo will play much lower than the 100hz spec on the box and we set our high pass filters around 65hz depending on install but we do use very low distortion amplifiers which allows us to play them lower
That makes sense, thanks so much Jay!
@@TonyDL thank you
Another great video….going to upgrade my fairing speakers and add tour pak speakers (‘21 RoadGlide), would the SV model with the added tweeter sound better than the SX model? Also, without removing gauges, where would be a good spot to mount the separate tweeter?
I use the sv165neo without the st25kneo when we needed added midbass, I prefer the sx165neo tweeter vs the st25kneo when not using subwoofers, if using subwoofers I prefer the st25kneo pointed toward the gas tank instead of straight at your ears
Would I get better sound using the SV with added tweeters over the SX by themselves?
What would u recommend for the lids? 2010 street glide.. 6x9……
We love the hertz sx690neo and it is our most popular 6x9 for lid use
Awesome video...have them on upper and lower fairing and the tour pac as well...I was looking at website and couldn't find the grills...can you shoot me a link please...God Bless!

Great video again Jay. Just waiting for my Soundstream radio to arrive that I ordered from you last week.
I’m curious about the SX165 speakers and the SV .
Neither come with grills???
Are they optional??
How would you compare the SX to the Focal Access for sound??
Thanks
I put the hertz above the focal access line, they don’t come with grills but we build some nice options with the hertz logos on them. Thank you for watching!
@@volunteeraudio i already bought this Hertz system from you last year (6.5, 6X9, and amp). Now I need speaker grills with the Hertz logo. 6X9 saddlebag lids just like Traveling Tall’s and I need Speaker grills with the Hertz logo for my upper/inner fairing for a 2020 Road Glide. Do you have those?
How do the SX 165 sound without an amp? Better than the stock I assume?
But louder? Does radio need flashing if you run it without an amp?
Slightly louder and much cleaner than stock without an amp, the huge improvement is once you add the amplifier
What's the difference between a stage 2 and a stage 4
2 speaker vs 4
Do have any products/installation videos for a 2011 Victory Cross Country saddle bag lid?
Richard
We do not
What do you think of the Polk audio MM1 series.
We sell those also but they don’t compare to the precision power, hertz or infinity speakers. They are close to the kickers but we are doing a series on purpose built motorcycle speakers and the mm-1 are boat speakers that sometimes get used on motorcycles
@@volunteeraudio what is the disadvantage of boat speakers compared to motorcycle speakers
@@volunteeraudio my goal is to get more of a full range sound instead of adding subs to my bike
@@michaelbanowski9731 not as efficient and won’t be as clear at full volumes
@@michaelbanowski9731 for more full range sound use the precision power speaker line
Hey jay can you run the 6x9s without an amp? I have a road king with a fairing and it has a 2 db drive 6x9s now but they aren’t to loud?
We always recommend an amplifier, the stock radio is 19 watts rms, you need 100 watts rms per channel or more to hear your music clearly while riding
@ I have a aftermarket Sony DSX M80 Built-in 4x45W RMS. Is that still not enough for two 6x9s?
@ no, not even close
@ which amp do you recommend with only running two 6x9s
@@volunteeraudio please let me know what amp so I can order one.
Hello Jay Frank here
I have a question I have a 2022 Ultra Limited with fairing speakers and tour pack speakers I would like to add lower speakers and lid speakers. I also want to know if I change all my speakers to Hertz and add an amp can I use the stock radio or would I have to change it out?
I would suggest hertz sx165neo in the fairing, sv165neo in the lowers, sv165neo in the tour pack and sx690neo in the lids using cut kits, all ran off one hertz sp4.900 amplifier, yes the stock radio is fine once you properly flash it, this system would be absolutely amazing and way louder than you can possibly use without major hearing loss lol! You can call us for package pricing @ 1-844-30AUDIO
Thanks for your quick response I am in California and been following you for a couple of months now and I do like your videos and the patients God has given you and Blessings you have received along the way.
I will be calling to see what a package of what I'm looking for would total thank you again.
Great video! Question, how water proof/resistance is your hertz stage 4 install on a road glide? Mixed reviews so wanted to ask the expert!!
The amp is IPX6 , very marine rated. The speakers are designed specific for motorcycle and no water can go through the speaker to the voice coil. Install of the cut kits has gaskets but we add silicone between the adapters and the bag, we then add an addition butyl rubber gasket between the speaker and the cut kit to make it even more water tight. We have had no issues with water by taking these additional steps
@@volunteeraudio Thankyou for your quick and efficient response!! Is there a video of these steps?

Hi, I have this set up with a sound digital 800 w amp and sound stream radio. What EQ should I be running? Could you do a video on this or let me know
We don’t use sound digital amps, we will most likely not make a video related to setup with their Amps. Thank you for watching!
@@volunteeraudio But on the Soundstream headunit there is a built in EQ I was referring to that
@@cm8070 I understand but those settings will vary depending on rms power and amp clarity
@@cm8070 I understand your question but we actually use an RTA to test systems then adjust the EQ to a target curve based off the rta readings
Can those 8 fit into lower front fairing
If you have lowers designed for 8” speakers the sx200neo or sv200neo fit
I have a 2018 Street Glide with a stock sound system. If I install the SX 165 Neos do I need an amp?
For sure an amp will make them sound better than without
How good is hertz warranty?
3 yr if you buy are plug n play package
